Mental illness is serious. A book how what happens in your childhood effects your mental health. Loved the surprise ending. I would recommend reading this book.
This book is a definite page turner. It takes you on a roller coaster ride that will have you begging to get off, but dreading the end. Beautifully written
Jadelyn Alexander, an exotic beauty and successful art gallery owner, seemed to have her life all together. Why she ended up in a mental institution is not immediately clear to her. There are a number of malicious allegations against her, but she knows that she never could have committed these heinous crimes. Dr. Deruth has been assigned to Jade's case. Unlike the line of psychiatrists before her, she genuinely cares about her patient's progress and believes that she can help Jade become a functioning member of society again. Jade and Dr. Deruth forge a relationship that proves to be mutually beneficial. Together they travel down the hopeful road to Jade's recovery.
Jaded, by Envy Red, was totally out of the box. The growth of this author from her first title is evident. Envy Red tackled the subject of mental illness, which is not popular, and did a wonderful job bringing it to the forefront. Although written as a stand- alone title, I would recommend reading the author's first novel, Touch, in order to get the entire background story. I never saw the ending coming, and neither did Jade or any of the other characters. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to those who may not be familiar with the effects of mental illness.
I can't believe it! I was speechless! This book was so awesome that all I could say for about 30 minutes was, "WOW!" Then I went to texting people about the book... Then I had to get on the phone and tell my sister about it! The author really made a great impression on me with her art! She really painted this story - so much so that my heart started racing! I wanted to know what was to come and then I would get nervous! Lol I was a mess reading this book! I admit that I got a little emotional on one part.
I won't give too much away about the book, BUT young girls and women need other women like Mrs. McCormick and Dr. Deruth in their lives. We need to remember that not every one had/has a nurturing adult in their early life.
I was supposed to have this book read and under my belt 2 weeks ago; however, I was busy on another project. My friend told me that I was going to be MAD that I wasn't able to read the book sooner. She was RIGHT! Kudos to Envy Red!
Wow,Impressive,Amazing…..Truly an exceptional read ‘Envy Red’. You demonstrated with this book you are a writer instead of a storyteller. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride, unpredictable twist of fate and the desire to read more until the book was finished. You left no questions unanswered. Please continue to write relatable/realistic novels and you will have a gained a lifetime supporter. I loved “Jaded” just as much as i loved “Touch” and i cant wait to read you next book “High Rollers” . If you are looking for a great book to read check out “Jaded” by Envy Red, i highly recommended it !!
This was a great read!! It started off in the right pace to continue follow up of touch and boy did it get juicy!! It was very sad because no one person should have to withstand such horrible things. Jade's upbringing explained why she did what she did but I just wished there could have been a better way out for her somewhere in the end. As for her mother, her uncle joohns, and the uncle I would have been glad to see them all get punished in some form or fashion. I missed my group discussion because I was out of town but I really want to let Envy Red know that she did a number on this one and I encourage her to continue with the good work.
Jaded was a breath taking book. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that Envy Red takes the time to present real life issues in her story and you can tell that she breathes life into each word that she inks on her pages. Do not sleep on this author. She certainly won't disappoint. Step into the shadows of Jaded and see what Envy Red is about.
Jaded was story that false me to stay up all night to find out what was fact and fiction. What blew me away was the twists and turns. The ending was unexpected and powerful. The characters were well develop. This story is a must read.
this was the first book I read by the author and I will honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed it. this book was a nice break from the normal urban fiction books I have read. some of the child sex abuse scenes were hard for me to read. I will be reading more by this author.
