I gave the first one a 3 star review because it was a bit middle of the road and sort of didn’t feel like it had the best direction but I did enjoy the concept enough to read on. This one was great. I really enjoyed the murder mystery with those flashback elements to the origin of the cast of monsters. You could easily skip the first and go straight to this.

For such a gimmicky premise, this book is surprisingly effective. The relationship between Carl the werewolf, and Travis the ex-SF star is unexpectedly deep, and revealed gradually throughout their investigation of the death of the invisible man. What a serendipitous purchase this was.
