It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
This was well-written, but I'm not a big fan of trilogies. I liked the second story better than the first, but was glad to see the firemen back in the third story. I also like longer books that delve into the characters and back story more, so shorter stories don't do it for me.
Otherwise, I enjoyed all three stories. I would recommend this to those who prefer shorter stories.
Super quick holiday novellas. Not super sexy, and I would have liked an epilogue but sweet and extremely low on the drama so they were enjoyable. Fun characters too. And how can anyone resist two sexy firemen and a hot business owner?
Three cute, quick holiday reads. They are flirty and fun and just right to read before the holidays. I look forward to reading the rest in this series.
This was a freebie from ARe, and the three stories were all very cute. I love the idea of a firefighter having to teach a "Rachel Ray"-type person how to cook, lol. And I love that when he met her, he was attracted to the woman, not the hype. He was drawn to how intent she was on getting some eggs when he had grabbed the last four dozen to feed his fellow firefighters. Cute story.
Then the photographer of the firefighter calendar accidentally meets the man running Bryant's, an upscale department store where they'll be holding a fundraiser. She doesn't know the man she met was a Bryant, and she spouts off all sorts of stuff about how a Bryant must have grown up spoiled, etc. So Jason naturally lies about who he is. :-) Then it's about how he's going to come clean while hopefully not losing her.
The last story was another firefighter falling in love. This time, it's a caterer who needs a ton of help but doesn't have the business knowledge to bring it all together. The firefighter ends up helping her sort of calm down and then opens her eyes to a few things to make things even better.
These were all VERY fade-to-black, but were sweet stories. Minor editing issues but enough of them to warrant mention.
The thread that ties this hot holiday collection together is a charity calendar which featured barely clad firemen and the follow on auction where a date with the calendar guys is up for sale to make more dough for a good cause.
Naughty & Nice was cute little trio of connected sexy shorts with more firemen and more steamy but not overly erotic - at least for Johnson - quickie romances in this follow on to Opposites Attract (the firemen leading men here are friends of a couple of the leading men from that collection.)
In Secret Recipe one of the calendar guys doesn't just put out flames and save lives, he's also hot in the kitchen and comes to the rescue when a TV 'cook' in need of cooking lessons.
In Mr December, when Mr December is too sick to do his gig as Santa, the department store owner steps in to fill his boots and becomes smitten with calendar's photographer.
In Can't Buy Me Love, it's one of the calendar hunks to the rescue when a caterer is working herself to death - but when her fortune changes and she thinks about leaving it all behind, will she leave him behind too?

This is a book of three short stories surrounding a charity Christmas event for a local hospital. Overall, the stories were good, very short, but didn't lack for a plot either.
Secret Recipe: This was actually my favorite of the three stories. Scott and Lexi were totally cute together, and I really enjoyed how he really came to her rescue a few different times!
Mr. December: Of all the stories, this one was the weakest in my opinion. Jason's deception could have really ruined things between him and Tessa. While I admire his attitude regarding changing things at his department store, he needed some work in his personal life.
Can't Buy Me Love: This story was actually pretty sweet. Both the hero and heroine were perfect for each other, each helping the other out. I liked the interaction between them both, it seemed the most realistic of all of the three stories.
This book has three short stories that connect, but each with its own ending. It takes up where Opposites Attract ends. Once again, you will read about nice people, in caring relationships with romance. The author gives you brief updates on all the couples. This has simple, feel good stories about Firemen, their loves, friends, and families- just plain, good America folks, that I enjoyed reading about! I would say the title might give you the wrong idea about the book, as it has pretty tame love scenes for this author-much more Nice than naughty. 4.25 rating.
Unlikable hero and really unlikable heroine. It sour the book for me, skip and skim through out and didn't find anything to capture my attention, hence giving up.
This is a compilation of three novellas in one book, it is really difficult to develop a story properly in such a short length, but the author's over descriptive, all tell and no show style of writing is making it hard for me to continue.
Ah nothing better than firemen half naked for a calendar. These three short stories all revolve around these hunky men and the photographer. Its a quick read and well worth reading.
