The Testimonies

Rate this book
What if we discovered the personal diaries of the Bible's most well-loved, women of the faith?

Each story, told in the first-person perspective, shows how one who has extraordinary beauty is faced with ordinary challenges that even modern women face:

Childlessness (Sarah), manipulation (Rebekah), being a second wife (Rachel), genocide (Esther), submission (Abigail), rape (Tamar) and family issues (Daughters of Job).

At the end of each chapter is a study guide for personal devotion or group studies.

Reev doesn't think writing his own biography in the 3rd person is cute.

I really loved this book. I just didn't think I'd love the songs more. Lol.

I'm already familiar with the stories but it was good, rereading them. Right after reading the book, I checked its blog because I was curious how the songs are like. After all, we can only read the lyrics in the book.

For those who want to listen to some of the songs, click here:

A nice and quick read. Short and brief details of the women in the Bible. Just like reading it from their chapters. This is basically a summary of the ladies.

I got this book on a deal from Amazon. I didn't know much about it and was hoping for a book like The Red Tent. I was disappointed at how short the chapters on each woman. I also wasn't a fan that every chapter started with a short quote from the bible describing each woman or women as beautiful. I felt it was strange to devote so much attention to the outward appearance of women. The only counterpoint I noticed is that one chapter described beauty as the inner fear of God. I also thought some of the end of chapter reflection questions were strange.

If you are looking for a quick, summary of these women in the bible then this may be the book for you, but I was hoping for more.
