I received this book as a goodreads first read giveaway. This book was amazing from the start. Such an interesting take on life after death that was just as much thought provoking as it was enjoyable and exciting to read. This is a book where I truly hope a sequel is in the mix as there are so many possibilities and interesting areas that could be further developed and make for a thrilling read. This is not your typical view of life after death but what a neat concept and a enjoy to read. Thank you!
What is the nature of life, - or death? We have all wondered about it.
OTMA 82 examines the nature of both and the ramifications of our daily choices, not only on our own lives, but those of others.
Resurrection into a new reality. This thought provoking exploration of the nature of an afterlife which includes species from across the universe, will challenge you to examine your own reality and relationships. The book takes wonderful twists and turns and there is even a surprise ending!
Only the Censors themselves could possibly know whether a sequel is coming.
Unlike other reviewers I was very disappointed by this book. I did not find it thought provoking but contrived and the world building / imagining unconvincing.
This book provided me an interesting perspective on death. Why would anyone want to read a book about death? Well, many believe that one's death is also a birth -- to either another world or to insight about the current one, such as after a near-death experience (NDE) that transforms one's perspective on life! It seems that life & death are flip sides of the same "coin" of consciousness, according to the author.
Through a first-person narrative of one's experiences with life's transition, this novel explores major what-if questions upon death, e.g., "Did my life have meaning?" and "How will I be judged?" The story will capture your curiosity and spin it through several social scenarios that will have you wondering if your end will be a beginning (a rebirth) -- or not. Readers of gentle religious inclinations (without a hell) should recognize the implications, and this novel will provide them a hypothetical example.
Even some agnostics may be intrigued by proposed ideas of survival and life's purpose, especially since life's "purpose" may have different perspectives. As an agnostic myself, I enjoyed the story as a good science fiction read, but remain uncertain about its merit regarding reality. Either way, this book should open your heart, if not also your mind.
A book can introduce concepts not yet generally known. OTMA 82 does this very well regarding an afterlife.
It gives the reader a sense of living in an expanded time frame where a day on the planet OTMA equals 2+ earth days. The descriptions of the inhabitants native to the planet are vivid. The described landscape imaginative and colourful. The confusion felt by the new arrivals can be understood from the well crafted dialogue. A reader's understanding of as yet undiscovered universal laws can be expanded by this pleasant trip into the future.
Today's fantasy might just turn out to be the future's reality. Even when a reader is not a fantasy or sci-fi fan an occasional read in this genre can be enlightening.
I recommend this book by giving it 4 stars out of five.
