Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky — and unending — lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left…his soul.

Your Life Has Just Begun, Again...

3.5 stars. Finn doesn't fit the "reaper" stereotype. This former WWII fighter pilot turned undead escort is just another guy stuck in the inbetween. It's too bad the love of his life has been reincarnated back into the world of the living and she seems to be unable to avoid nearly missing death over and over. I guess that's what happens when ....CRAP... I can't say anything else or it will be a massive spoiler!

You'll just have to trust me that the plot twist is actually kind of amusing. It almost had me wishing for the most bizarre love triangle (it would have involved body snatching, don't ask) that could have ever been. Don't stress. There's no actual love triangle...but in this case, it would have been hilarious to watch.

Confused yet? Sorry. Let's go back to the beginning. Inbetween starts out a little bit like it was written as the lovechild of Fallen and Existence. Believe me, I wasn't happy about this. At ALL. However, even with the similarities, I thought the story was a halfway decent read with far, far less annoying characters, so I was going to give this a basic "3 star for managing not to tick me off" rating and move on to the next book.

Somewhere around the second half of the book, things got interesting. I'm stuck again not being able to say anything because ARGH, SPOILERS. I'll just say that I was grinning with sick glee at what was going on.

Without going into too much detail, there were fights and accidents and fires and people switching bodies...and yeah. All that kind of hoopla. Fun stuff.

If I had any sort of complaint, it's that I wish the love story would have taken longer to develop. This is going to be a series. Even knowing that the two main characters had a history, it would have been interesting to see Emma have been kept in the dark longer than she was...or, at the very least, maybe she could have taken a little bit more time to figure out that she had fallen in love. I'm not a fan of point A to Z romance when a series still has several books in the making.

The Ending. Blergh. Again, I can't SAY JACK because I actually want my friends to stay my friends and I don't think they'd appreciate me spoiling something if they have any intention of reading the book. I am not happy with what happened to one of the characters (it could be one of many characters who were in the book). My preference would have been for that "person" (imagine me doing lame air quotes) to keep doing what they were doing. And that's all I will say about that.

Overall Score : I'm fairly secure in giving this a happy 3.5. After getting past a few shaky chapters which had me nervously comparing Inbetween to a couple of less-than-impressive books, I realized this was a halfway-decent first installment to a series. I can't say that the book was anything new or fresh for the genre, but I was entertained and didn't feel myself suffering any massive cringe-worthy moments. I'll definitely be continuing on with the series.

When I started this story, I really had no expectations since I haven’t read much of anything about Reapers. I was guessing it might be a depressing story considering what Reapers do, thankfully I was very wrong.

Finn is a Reaper, someone who collects the souls of the dying for the Inbetween. The Inbetween is a place for the souls of people who haven’t yet established their place in the afterlife, whether they’d go to Heaven or Hell is still to be determined. So why do we have Finn urging Emma to fight for her life, instead of reaping her soul, in the opening scene? You see as the story progresses, that Emma is everything to Finn, even if she’s forbidden. Unfortunately for Finn and Emma, she’s everything to Maeve, too; a shade with an axe to grind.

Emma is a seventeen year-old girl who lost her father in a car accident that almost took her life as well. Since then she’s been plagued by dreams of another life and a boy with haunting green eyes, and she feels like someone is watching her. As if that wasn’t enough, Emma’s had several “accidents” or near misses that have almost killed her, since the car accident. Emma doesn’t even think of a future when hers seems iffy at best.

I felt bad for both Emma and Finn, but more so for Emma. She thinks she’s crazy and having hallucinations and with all those close calls, I’d be afraid to leave the house! Emma doesn’t even feel comfortable sharing any this with her best friend, Cash. The last time she told anyone anything, she wound up in a mental institution. I felt bad for Finn too. He constantly watches over Emma, fearing for her safety, yet is forbidden from being part of her life. Of course, he can’t help himself and then I was on pins and needles, wondering what’s going to happen to him. Even though she’s alive and he’s dead and incorporeal we do get a swoony romance. Here’s a teaser for you:

I stepped into Emma, feeling her warmth draw me in. She looked up, eyes wide, her peppermint breath fanning across my face. “What are you doing?” She gasped, unable to catch her breath. I ran an iridescent finger down her arm to her wrist, watched it scatter like stars across her skin. Her breath hitched in her throat. Her heart beat so hard the sound rippled through me like a shock wave. When her eyes met mine, the amount of want in them nearly brought me to my knees.*

At first, I thought there may be a love-triangle in the works because I kept getting thoughts like this from Emma: “Cash was sarcasm and seduction wrapped up with a gooey artistic center. He didn’t need a T-shirt to get any girl he wanted. All he had to do was look at them. The bad part was he knew it.”* I was sort of drooling over Cash throughout the book, but I still didn’t want a love-triangle. Plus, I was a little annoyed with him in the beginning. The fact that Cash didn’t really believe Emma ticked me off. Thankfully, no love-triangle appeared, and I’m happy to report we will get more Cash in the next story. The story will be told in Cash and Anaya’s POVs! Exactly what I hoped for!

This story felt like it flew by, I read it in pretty much in one day. It was a story that easily held my attention, and I was quickly turning the pages eager to find out how things would turn out. I’m pleased that things wrapped up nicely and we weren’t left with a cliffhanger. With the way things were left with Cash, I’m anxious to read the next story.

Thank you to Netgalley and Entangled Teen for allowing me to read this.

They say the dead can't sleep, can't dream. But as I stood there lost with wanting, I couldn't help but wonder when I was going to wake up.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise and huge shocker considering I've never thought to pick up a book about reapers. So glad I was invited on this blog tour because I truly enjoyed Inbetween by Tara Fuller.

Never have I thought I'd fall this hard for a reaper. I mean how can you drool or squee over a guy that wields a scythe and transports souls to their next destination point? What's intriguing about that? HA! Well, leave it to Tara Fuller to create a unique cast of characters and a well paced storyline that had me hooked from the prologue all the way to the last page. I mean, I was so engrossed in the story that when I stumbled from one sentence to the "Acknowledgements"... I was like NOOOOO!! Not because there was a painful cliffy, don't get me wrong I want more, but I was really drawn into Fuller's storytelling. Well done!

So let me tell you a little bit about this book. Inbetween introduces us to four reapers - Scout, Easton, Anaya and Finn. Their job is to transport fallen souls to their next stopping ground which can be Heaven, Hell or somewhere Inbetween. For the last two years, Finn has gone against the rules of his role and risked his existence to protect a girl's soul from an evil reaper named Maeve. See these three souls all met once before where Finn made a decision that determined Emma's fate and earned her an enemy from the Inbetween. So when Maeve exacts her revenge on Finn through Emma, he and his band of reapers combine forces to set things right.

Overall, I loved how Fuller paced her novel. There were so many layers to this story that she developed and executed with precision. It never felt rushed, but when secrets were revealed and actions were set in motion, it was like being glued to a movie where I was left sitting at the edge of my seat.

Also, I have to give credit where credit is due. Tara Fuller might incorporate the concepts of Heaven, Hell and the Inbetween, but there's nothing religious or philosophical about her setting. In fact, it's merely that - a place to execute her plot. No hidden agendas or personal opinions - just straight up storytelling with her own unique element of awesome.

I can't wait to read her next book where we hopefully get to see what happens with Cash as he recovers from his own encounter with the reapers. He surely wasn't left unscathed and I'm eager to see how it all plays out.

So, if you're looking for something different coupled with a layer of splendid, give Inbetween by Tara Fuller a try. You won't regret it.

Review To Be Posted on K-Books for the Inbetween blog tour in August

"For you? For you I'd do anything."

Wow. I do not even know where to start with this book. This book just completely blew me away. I loved every single second of it. When I started Inbetween I was heavily expecting a cute love story... and it is. But Inbetween is so much more than just that. It's fast-paced action packed and had my heart racing so many times throughout the book.

Emma has always has accidents. Near-missed with death and so she always has to be cautious. But are they all really accidents? Or is there something more to it. Finn has to protect Emma at all costs. It's his fault that she is targeted by the spirits. He will give anything to protect the one he loves. But can he find a way to save Emma as well as saving himself?

I loved this book. I could not put it down. It is so amazing. Inbetween in only the second book I have read about Reapers, the first being Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series, so the whole Reaper concept is pretty new and original to me. This one blew me away. I was sucked in from the very first page and couldn't put it down. I was completely hooked to Finn and Emma's world. Tara's writing is just phenomenal and I am definitely a fan of her writing style. This book could have very much been very dark a dramatic with the reapers and the events that was happening but Tara's writing kept it very light and funny and turned it into a cute love story. I loved that. There are way too many dark and dramatic books n this genre and not nearly enough light-hearted ones. BUT do not take that to say there's no emotion. I felt so much for these characters. I was laughing and crying. I was so heart-broken at one point I was just sat crying to myself. This is definitely a book that you will be come very emotionally invested with the characters. I love that. If an author can make me feel that much emotion for their characters they definitely have bonus points from me.

Emma is such an awesome character and I love her. I love how vulnerable she is at the beginning but by the end she was strong and ready to fight. You really see her grow a lot and I really loved that. She was vulnerable but never once did I get the feeling that she was being mopey and annoying. She grew into such a strong character the more she found out about what had happened to her and what was going on.

Finn, *insert dreamy sigh here*. He is PERFECT!! I definitely fell head over heels in love with Finn. He is everything that any girl would want in a guy. He's sweet and charming and loving and I just adore him. All the way through you just see his intense love for this girl and how he will do anything to protect her, even if it means sacrificing himself. He is perfect.

Then you have Chase. I love Chase too. He's definitely more of the bad boy and I love him so much... just not for Emma. I really hope we see more of Chase in the next book in this series and maybe get to see the story from his point of view. Chase is such a fantastic character and I really wanted to get inside his head and see what he was thinking and what he was thinking. I have hopes that we will see more of him in book 2.

I really loved all of these characters and as much as I can't wait to see what happens to the main three characters I also can't wait to see what happens to the other Reapers. They may not have been 'main' characters but they were very important to the story and I'm looking forward to reading more about them.

This book is just fantastic. I loved every moment of it. I was laughing one moment and crying the next. It was definitely an emotional rollercoaster for me while maintaining to be a cute, light-hearted story. I loved that. If you want to fall head-over-heels in love with a great love story with a paranormal twist, Inbetween is definitely for you. A must read!

A sweet, totally forbidden romance between a reaper and the girl he's been sent to reap not once, but twice. Tara has written some of the best secondary characters I've ever read that--YAY!!--will each get their own book!

3.5 stars

I'm not usually into reaper boy-human girl story. I remember reading some but not many. I don’t really have problem with them but I wasn’t really that inclined to pick them up. Still, when I saw the blurb of Inbetween there something about it that had me hooked. I was intrigued and interested and very curious to find out the story of Finn and Emma. So I was really glad when I was able to join a blog tour for this book and got a review copy of it.

The plot line of this book kinda reminded me of some angel books like Fallen and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The girl being reincarnated as a human who doesn't remember anything from her past life and the guy who knows and remembers everything but torn and guilty from moving back to the girl's new life. Although it wasn't very original I think it still delivered some quite unique stuffs that I find enjoyable and amusing.

Finn was an endearing and interesting character. His guilt and sadness about the things that he did in the past and his love for Emma was so heartbreaking and touching that I wanted to comfort him and hug him. Emma although likable I did find a bit dull. I would love for her to developed more personality, something that would make her character more striking.

The story of Finn and Emma was a very sweet and heartbreaking one. I was curious and intrigued as to why Finn can't go near and reveal himself to Emma and why he feels guilty and responsible for her. I wanted to learn what had really happened in the past. And when I finally learned it I was sad and sympathetic for the two.

However, I think I wasn't completely that invested in their love story. There were moments that I get so fond of it then moments that I just don't quite care. In a story, I love seeing two characters fall in love, how it developed and grew. But in this book, having that part happened in the past, I wasn't able to see more of it. The author did provide flash backs that showed how the two met, moments between them and how the conflict came but I think it wasn't really that enough for me to completely connect and invest in their romance.

The secondary characters were my favorite! Especially Cash (!!!), Anaya, Easton and even Scout. I love that they did make an impression in me and didn't just fade into the background.

Despite all the slight issues I was still satisfied and happy with how things turned out. The ending, I think, was a bit too nice. But it was a happy ending so I guess I should be happy about it. lol! The overall I enjoyed and I do still think that this is a nice and decent read, although not mind blowing but absolutely lovely.

Three Stars: A love story that defies the odds!
Finn feels the pull indicating it is time to reap another soul. When he arrives on scene he instantly feels that something is wrong. Then he sees her. After seventeen long years he has found her again. He can't take her soul, not after all this time. A wicked laugh shrills through the air. Maeve is here to steal back the body that should have been hers. Finn begs Emma to fight to live. Emma crawls from the car and survives. Two years later, Finn has become her constant protector. He fears that Maeve will make good on her promise and destroy the soul of the only girl he has ever loved. Finn refuses to let that happen even if that means he must risk his own eternal future, even if he ends up in the pits of Hell, it would be worth it to protect his girl. Meanwhile, Emma is struggling with her sanity. She feels like someone is always watching her and she has dreams she cannot explain. Not to mention all the near death misses she has survived over the last two years. Can true love transcend time and eternity? Will a reaper risk everything for this one girl?

What I Liked:
*I enjoyed the sweet romance that is at the heart of this story. Finn and Emma rekindle their love that sparked when Emma was Allison, a soul stuck in the Inbetween. The two fall in love despite the fact that a relationship between a reaper and a soul is forbidden. *Then Finn makes a hasty move and shoves Allison into another body so he can ensure that she will have a future. Seventeen years passes before the sparks reignite. It is a romance that defies the odds and survives the passage of time and the forgetfulness of reincarnation. I loved the romantic element in this one.
*I liked the different reapers. Finn is a reaper that brings souls to the Inbetween, a place where souls go to hopefully earn another chance at life. Then there are reapers who ferry souls to Heaven while other take them to Hell. I was drawn to Easton the reaper who collects the souls of the damned. He is fun and caring and a loyal friend in spite of the fact that he spends his days picking up the deceased scum of the earth. You would think a reaper in his position would be cold and cruel, but that is not the case with Easton. Anaya his counterpart who takes the dead to Heaven is also a terrific friend to Finn.
*Cash, Emma's best friend, was my favorite secondary character. He and Emma have been best friends since they were six years old. He is handsome, sarcastic and above all a best friend to Emma through thick and thin. I love books that feature a boy and girl friendship.
I loved that this book refrains from a love triangle and a cliffhanger ending!
*I enjoyed Ms. Fullmer's lovely writing. She presents many rich descriptions and her story flows nicely.
And The Not So Much:
*My biggest complaint for this book was lack of development and details. The secondary characters were all underdeveloped. I longed for the tiny details and descriptions that would give me a better understanding of the characters. For instance, who exactly is Balthasar? Obviously he is in a commanding position, but where does he fall in the whole Heaven and Hell hierarchy? How did Easton, Finn and Anaya get their reaper positions? Emma's mother Rachel was extremely underdeveloped. She makes the typical random motherly appearances but the reader never gets a sense of how she dealt with the death of Emma's father. Finally, Maeve the villain, a better understanding of her character was needed.
*The book opens with a car crash that kills Emma's father and then it skips ahead two years without filling in the gaps. What happened to Emma after the car crash? Why did she end up in a mental hospital? How did she cope with her father's death? How many near death experiences did she have?
*As much as I liked Finn, I felt like I was missing something. Mostly I longed to know more about his life and death and what happened to him after he died and how he became a reaper for the Inbetween.
*This book presents some interesting ideas on the afterlife, but again they are not fully realized. When a soul dies it is reaped and taken to Heaven, Hell or the Inbetween. The Inbetween is a holding area for those souls who passed away at a young age and did not have chance to fully develop. It seems that they are contained in limbo until they are chosen to be reborn. Sometimes they are not picked to reincarnate and their is a brief mention of the soul residing in the shadow lands and it didn't seem to be a nice place. Again I needed details.....How long can a soul stay in the Inbetween? What is the shadowlands? What happens to a soul once it is sent to the shadowlands? I loved the ideas presented but they lacked in the execution.

Inbetween is an enjoyable read that presents you with a complicated love story that extends beyond death and shows how much someone is willing to sacrifice to protect the one he loves. Finn is a remarkable character with a genuine good heart. If you are looking for a book that features reapers and a sweet romance give this book a try.

Favorite Quotations:
"I could see the neat row of cookbooks, nestled together like a family, holding all of the secrets Emma created in the kitchen. They smelled like flour and sugar and home."
"Emma had so many words insider her. I was surprised they didn't fall out while she was sleeping."
"The sunrise, just a pale echo of summer, edged over the horizon and poured through my translucent body, refusing to acknowledge my existence with a shadow."
"The crackling hiss of a bonfire and the tawny glow that suffused the trees led the way. I glanced around at the melting shadows that dripped from the dying hemlocks and sturdy pines. Under the safe blanket of daylight, the mountains here were beautiful. But here in the dark, all I saw was a thousand ways to die."
"Something in me said to stay. Something in me said to run. And every inch of me wanted to touch him."
"Nothing always means something with girls."
"The needle gave life to the music, and Billie Holliday's butterscotch-rich voice wafted into the air around me. I swayed, unable to stop myself. I remembered the smell of flour and sugar on Mama's hands, the cadence of Henry's laughter as it mixed with mine."
"I lost myself in the moment. Lips tangling, our breaths mixing and melting on my tongue. His kisses felt so good, his lips so gloriously solid against mine, it took my breath away."
"Please don't tell me you met him on the internet. Have you even met the guy in person? They never look like their pictures. He could have a mullet. He could have a third nipple or something--."
"Snowflakes probably. Even from my bed I could see the eerie ballet of white dust against the black velvet sky outside."
"You lit up my whole world, like the sun bursting through the clouds on a stormy day. You made me remember what it was like to feel alive. You made me believe I was something more than death. You made me believe in something I didn't think existed anymore."

My full review in all of its glory (PLUS a lot of smexy Finn & Easton photos) can be found on my blog!
YUM WOW OMG!!!
HOLY FINN!!!!!
Hey Easton, give a girl a call!! *wink wink*
Anaya you ... oooo girl!!! Just yea!! I'm watching you!!
And Cash you can doodle me any time!!
Love this book...

You know how you start a book and it starts with a girl in trouble and some sexy man comes and saves her then disappears and you are all like “OH MY GOD! What the hell?!!?! Who is that! He is so sexy, I want him. And you read the book from the chicks POV and you never know what the motives are for the guy unless you are lucky enough to have the author write his POV at some point in time.

This isn’t that book!

SERIOUSLY!!!! This book mostly follows Finn the sexy guy that saves the damsel!!!! I was so hooked on just that fact alone that we get to see the flip side of the story.

I was so excited to get this book because I have wanted it FOREVER!!!! I read Tara’s first book, Perigee Moon earlier this year and LOVED IT!! And when I found out she was writing a book about reapers I died!!! And this wasn’t a let down!!! It lived up to every expectation I had and more! Tara’s craft lies in her ability develop a tantalizing world that draws you in quick, grips you tight and doesn’t let you go. You will laugh, you will cry, you will fight your impulse to throw this across the room and you will just love the ride that Tara takes you on.

This book is told in Dual POV, mostly from Finn’s, but also from Emma’s. And I have to say that this saved the book for me. I really enjoyed knowing what Finn was doing and seeing the story from him because his story is complex and surprising full of life, it’s a pleasure to be able to be a part of it. If this book was told from Emma’s POV it would have been very boring and just like every other book out there. Emma is still a wonderful girl, but this story is really about Finn and his struggles to find a way to love his girl.

And let me tell you I love the good, but broken, Finn. He was a sweetie, selfish at times but definitely one to pull on your heartstrings. But Easton is the man that stole my heart!! Dark, mysterious, and more than meets the eyes (Yea that’s right, you got an Autobots reference), he is the boy I can’t wait to get to know. Finn is like the new kid on the block, where he is still discovering how to do his job, and what it means to fulfill his duty as a reaper. Fresh, and still attached to the human world. But Easton has been around a while. He is aged, distressed looking and you know when he lets you find out his story, it’s going to be a doozy!!!

And my girl Anaya, GIIIIIIRL!!!! I really need to know what is going on with her!!! Her actions and AHHHHHHHH I cant even talk about it her story!!! I cant for coherent sentences when it comes to her!!! I need her story also!!!

Like I said, the supporting characters really stole the show! I can’t wait for more form this world that Tara set up. This is a great concept of reapers and Tara really captured the emotion behind what it means to be a reaper. I loved all the scenes about the boys (and lady) working and how they handle being reapers.

What prevented this from being 5 starts for me was Finn and Emma’s relationship felt a bit light. I would have loved a bit more chemistry between them and a bit more draw. I didn’t quite see them as being the greatest loves of each other’s lives. And I think that was because we don’t get to see their love develop from when they first met. But I still loved the journey they took me on and the lengths that Finn was willing to go to show Emma that he loved her and always would. Everything else in this story is wonderfully written. The world is great, the evil villain is evil, and it’s a wonderful paranormal read.

If you are looking for a great, quick paranormal read, this one is it! But be warned, you will get drawn in quick by the other characters and be like me, impatiently waiting for the rest of their stories!

Favorite Quotes

For you? For you I'd do anything.

"Do you like him?" Cash finally broke into a full-on grin. "Of course you do! He saved you. Chicks love that crap. Does this mean you're actually going to go on a real date now?

Before you, there was only dark. You lit up my whole world, like the sun bursting through the clouds on a stormy day.

Review:

Inbetween was a really interesting book. When I first heard about it, I thought it sounded good but I didn't quite expect the amount of detail that actually went into it. I feel like I would of enjoyed it even if it had half the detail that it actually did. So Tara went well and beyond with this book, and I feel like that is a great thing. It makes the book that much more enjoyable and engrossing. And the writing in this book was fantastic, which helped even more with making this book a lot more fun to read.

The story was pretty interesting, I haven't seen many YA books dealing with reapers in the literal soul taking sense so that was cool to see. I also loved that the story had some freaky elements to, before you get to know the complete background of everything. The scene by the creek during a party that takes place in the book is a great example of one of the scarier scenes in the book. I was really impressed with how Tara made everything work together and I loved the relationship she created between Emma and Finn. And the tension between Finn and the other reapers because of that relationship. The only thing I could feel myself being really picky about was that there were a few scenes that I felt dragged on a little to long, which is why I decided to drop down to an overall four star rating.

As I mentioned above, I loved the relationship between Emma and Finn. At first, it took a little while to get use to with Finn being a reaper and Emma being human. But once the story really gets going it becomes much easier to accept the relationship and appreciate it for what it is and the things it will eventually lead to. But I won't get into that. There are a lot of other really great characters in Inbetween, such as Cash who is Emma's best friend. He is a great character, that I really hope to learn more about in the next book especially after the events at the end of the book. Then you have the other reapers, and Balthazaar but there is a huge part of the story attached to them so I don't really want to go into a lot of detail. All of the characters were great though, and I think you will really enjoy them once you get a chance to read the book.

The ending was fantastic, I don't even really know what to say. It's one of those endings that just leaves you there thinking "Did that really just happen?" I was really impressed with where Tara decided to take the story. There were some things that happened toward the end that completely caught me off guard, and then there were others that were somewhat predictable due to previous events in the book. But when it comes down to it, I think Tara did an amazing job wrapping this book up and it really leaves you wanting to dive directly into the second book. Which sadly won't happen for awhile, but I am excited to see where things go after the final events of this book.

I would highly suggest reading Inbetween. Other than the issue I had with some scenes seeming to go on for a little to long, I really think this book is amazing and will be enjoyed by a lot of people. So if it sounds like a book you'd enjoy, I would say that it is well worth reading. I just wish we didn't have to wait for the second book, I am sure you will feel the same after you finish the book.

Good points:

At first, I wasn't going to even read this book. Reapers? I wasn't so sure. But when I got a chance to read the e-ARC, I jumped at the chance.

And I don't regret it. Inbetween was amazing.

I loved that it was from a girl's point of point, then a guy's. And Tara did an awesome job of telling both parts!! <3

Emma, even though her dad has died, and "accidents" keep happening to her, she still goes around, still trying to live life.

Finn was awesome. The best hero ever. I loved him. And I can't see why Emma wouldn't either. ;) He has green eyes!!! Green eyes are the best. (the swoony-est) And the fact that he's a soul, even better. And, he was in the army before he died. *sighs contently*

Emma and Finn's relationship was shaky at first. Emma wasn't sure if she was losing her mind, or this was all real. And the fact that Finn couldn't touch her without getting in trouble, it was a tense relationship. But they found a way through it all.

Annnnnd....Cash. Cash was awesome. I have friends who are boys, and I know how awesome they can be. And Cash was awesome. And I was glad that Cash wasn't going after Emma. Sometimes you just need a guy friend who's just...your friend, you know?

And the villain? Meave??? She was great!! She was crazy, and vengeful and all that great villain stuff. ;) (Even though I don't like her, she was a great villain.)

And I loved the whole "reaper" concept. I don't really read stuff like that, and I really enjoyed it. I liked how there was a reaper who pulled people who were "bad" to Hell. And one to put "good" people to Heaven. And then, Finn...I was a bit confused on who he reaped people for, but I was pretty sure it was the Inbetween, where souls get another shot at life if they make it that long.

Emma and her mother's relationship was tense too, Rachel just wanted to get re-married and be happy, but Emma just wanted her dad back. And her mom kept saying she wanted to be happy and Emma wasn't happy about it. But I think Emma and her mom will be ok, Parker seems like a nice guy. ;) (and he's a cop!!!)

Negative points:

The language, even though it wasn't as bad as other books I've read, I still don't enjoy it. But I didn't let it ruin the book for me. :)
And the fact that Emma keeps lying to people about the souls, I don't like lying, but I think in this case, Emma would be sent to Brookhaven again if she said she was talking to and seeing souls. So I think it's alright for now. ;P

Inbetween kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Most of the time I was either doing this:

"*Covers mouth with hand* Oh my gosh....oh my gosh!!" Or...."Just kiss her already you idiot!!"

I cannot wait for book 2! And don't forget to pick up your copy of, Inbetween when it comes out in August! :D

Rating: 5 stars!!

This review will also be posted on my blog Doctor's Notes:

Oh where do I begin with this review? There are just so many things I loved about this book from the swoon worthy characters to the amazing plot and the author's awesome writing style. I got so sucked into this book and didn't want to let go. I haven't read many reaper stories but this one to me was by far the best. I loved the telling of this story and the fact that it was basically teens dealing with this situation. I loved that this story was told through both Emma and Finn;'s points of view. It was great seeing things from both sides.

We start this book out by meeting Finn who is in the process of saving Emma's life because she reminds him of someone. We learn that Finn is a reaper and he should have let Emma die. Finn's love for Emma causes him to let her live and he spends his time from there trying to keep her safe. Finn was so swoon worthy and I am totally in love. He was just so caring and yet so powerful. He made sure that Emma was taken care of at all costs even when it put himself at risk. The love that he had for Emma was off the charts amazing.

Emma was a tough character. I loved that she was willing to fit through her issues and not just chalk up her accidents to chance. She realized something wasn't right and wasn't ok with just being pigeonholed into being crazy. I loved to see her and Cash together as he was a great friend. He really made her feel ok about herself. Cash was another character in himself and so like able. He was so witty and adorable. There were a lot of really good supporting characters in this book like Anaya and Easton. It is very rare that I love the supporting characters as much as the leading ones but the author's writing made me love them all equally.

The story progresses and Emma and Finn fall in love and learn to interact with each other even more. I loved seeing them together. Their love seemed so geniune and pure. I loved the risks they were willing to take to stand up against the challenges they had against them. The choices that they put into place leads to some pretty unexpected consequences though and I am anxious to see how they will handle them all. Overall I loved this book and am saying bravo to the author for writing such a phenomenal piece of work. I loved this book and can't wait to see what else will happen with Emma and Finn. I mean in all honesty all I really need is more Finn in my life like now. I will definitely be grabbing the next book in this series when it comes out. I highly recommend this book to readers that want a great plot with some amazing characters and a great romance mixed in. You will not be disappointed with this book.

Thanks to Entangled Teen for letting me review this one.

I received this book in return for a honest review from Netgalley. This is the story of Finn a reaper who is in love with Emma a girl he was supposed to reap two years ago. Two years ago Emma lost her father in a car crash and since that day she's been in and out of a mental hospital because of her dreams. Finn since finding Emma has been watching over here protecting her from an evil girl that he released on her.

Seventeen years ago Finn stole the second chance at a new life from Maeve another soul when Emma at the Alison was going to be send into the shadowlands. Maeve is left to wonder the earth a soul doomed to end up in the shadowlands after her soul turns to shadow. Alison starts her life over as Emma unknown about the past, Finn or Maeve. Finn doesn’t know where Alison is until he is sent to reap Emma when she dies in a car crash. Instead of reaping her, and taking her to the inbetween, where he brings the souls he’s collected. He leaves her soul, instead helping save her life, because he loves her, and doesn’t want to lose her for good. As fate would have it he unintentionally leading Maeve right to her.

Over the next two years Finn watches over Emma protecting her from a vengeful Maeve who wants to claim the life she should have had all along. Finn can't let anything happen to Emma even though reapers are to have no contact with the human except when they reap them. Finn goes against all the rules for love, ending up in deeper trouble them he can imagine. But who wouldn't give it all up for the one they love.

This book has a inviting cover and the synopsis sounds great I just had to give it a shot. I love the idea of soulmates and loves that transcend time, so of course this story had me at the start. I love the characters Emma is so sweet, and fits the whole girl next door, plus she's had a hard couple of years but keeps going strong.I felt connected with her the loss of a parent to a car crash, dealing with the dreams of her past that she doesn't remember. Plus who doesn't love Finn, he's a former fight pilot who's a good guy just stuck in the wrong job, and reminds me a lot of my hubby. The characters are well developed that you feel like you know them, and can relate to the challenges in the story. I even liked the supporting characters like Cash, Anaya and Easton. I really enjoyed reading this book, it gave me everything I needed to be a great loves story. I love the reaper and soul aspect of the story because sometimes loves isn't simple and sometimes you have to do something you don't want to for love. I look forward to reading more about the characters and what hinted at to come in the next book.

I haven't read many reaper books, so when INBETWEEN was announced, I was all over it. I'm pleased to say my instincts were correct. I loved this story.

In the beginning, you really feel for Emma. She's got all these crazy things happening to her and she has no idea why. Worse, everyone thinks she's insane, and she's even spent a stint in the psych ward. Lucky for her, she's got a best friend named Cash who supports her even when everyone else thinks she's nuts. But, the story really gets interesting when Finn pops into her life - literally. Soon, she figures out she's not crazy at all, which is a relief until she discovers there's a spirit trying to kill her.

Honestly, I don't even know how to begin.

Lately, every paranormal novel I've read seems to be a cliche but Tara Fuller completely surprised me. Scratch that, she blew me away. Inbetween is a love story; epic, timeless love story which has been pulled off perfectly only a handful of times in YA novels. With all the fluff that I've come across in the paranormal genre lately, while I expected Inbetween to be an engrossing novel, I didn't expect to be sucked in as much as I did.

The story begins with Finn, a reaper of the Inbetween - a place between Heaven and Hell where some souls wander until they get sorted into one of the two places or be born again - going to collect a soul at a car crash. What he didn't see coming was the girl in the accident to be the love of his life afterlife, Allison, re-incarnated.

First off, I've read a few reaper stories and I loved Tara's take on them. Although the story focused more on the characters, the world-building's unique and so different from the other reaper stories that I've read. The concept of an 'Inbetween' area between Heaven and Hell made this book stand out from all the rest. Throw in the forbidden and intense love story, I'm hooked.

The characters, God, where do I begin? I'm attached to all of them. Easton is like Jughead from the Archie comics - he watches from the sidelines, he's friends with all the main characters and he has his significant role to play but it's subtle and he adds to the entertainment. I'm not sure if I'm making any sense right now.
As for Cash, I spent the first 150 pages not knowing who to root for, Cash or Finn, because I'm completely crushing on Cash right now. Finn might be the Romeo of this book but Cash is like..Adrian from VA - the guy you're going to swoon over even though you know that she's not going to end up with him. I noticed that this is a series and I'm crossing my fingers, hoping that the next one is about Cash and Anaya because while I loved Finn, I have a soft spot for a bad boy who's messed up and trying to figure himself out. Besides, he's adorable. You'd love him too.

Cash rolled his eyes "I always knew there was something wrong with you. Now turn around so I don't ruin you for other men."

Tara's added humour made this book complete. The Justin Beiber and Judy Blume references, along with the witty dialogues had me snorting quite a few times.

"Screw you. You're the one haunting a high school student."
"I'm not haunting her. I'm protecting her."

Inbetween has found itself a place on my favourites shelf and like I said, I can't wait to read the next book. It's an intense, emotional love story with an engaging plot, interesting world-building, wonderful writing and excellent supporting characters. This is one of those extremely rare books where the author has done everything right. Frankly, Tara Fuller just restored my faith in the genre; Inbetween gives me hope that there're still some good young adult paranormal romance stories out there (emphasis on the romance. Really, it's that good).
Fans of paranormal romance novels like Twilight (but with much better writing and smarter characters) and Fallen will enjoy this (I think)!

I was a bit reluctant to read this at first. I mean, reapers?! Even the name sounds freaking scary. And I'm a little scaredy cat. The only YA reaper book I've read was Croak (Gina Damico) and I didn't like that one at all. Didn't even finish it. So before starting this I was like 'WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE THIS TOO?' Well. I can tell you I've never been so wrong in my life. Tara's debut INBETWEEN is definitely one of my most favourite reads of 2012. It has everything I want in a book. Don't believe me? Well carry on reading.

I completely fell in love with all of the characters. Especially the side characters. They all had different personalities and added unique things to the story. Which made the story more unforgettable, more complex and just all around full of awesome. Anaya and Cash = LOVE THEM! I can't wait for their story coming out next year (I think!). But that's not to say I didn't adore our main characters Emma and Finn. They were both very lovable characters that you couldn't help but root for them. The chemistry between them was WHOA. This is what romance should be like.

The plot is definitely the best part of this book for me. It was layered, complex and very intriguing. Along the way, we get information and flashbacks about what really happened and I couldn't put my kindle down. I read this in one sitting. The ending was very sweet and felt complete. Anyway, I just completely fell in love with the world Tara created in INBETWEEN. The whole inbetween, heaven and hell is one of my favourites to read about EVER. There's not enough words to describe how much I love the setting and the world. BRILLIANT.

The antagonist is one of the best that I've read. She's still a bitch, but you can't help but feel sorry for her. I love it when writers can make me feel something else rather than hatred to the villain. It makes it more realistic and believable, aswell.

Overall an unforgettable plot, lovely writing, a great cast of characters and a very swoon-worthy romance. INBETWEEN is a must read for everyone. Paranormal at its best. Definitely going to pre-order this right now!

Oh and I just had to mention this real fast. I think Entangled is my favourite publisher. Seriously. There's so many awesome books! Obsidian, Inbetween, My Super Sweet Sixteenth (just to name the latest I've read from them), and not to mention their very sexy adult titles! Thank you for allowing me to review this! :D

(Source: I won a digital copy of this book. Thanks to YA Buddy Readers' Corner)
17-year-old Emma nearly died when she was 15 and she was involved in an RTA with her father. What she doesn’t know is that she was supposed to die though, and that Finn – a reaper, saved her.

Finn has been in love with Emma for 27 years, ever since she died in a previous life and he had to reap her soul. He did something very bad to get Emma to where she is now though, and he’s been protecting her constantly for the last two years, from a shadow (evil spirit) called Maeve who wants to kill her, even though it’s against the rules.
When Maeve steps up her attacks, Finn steps up his own protection duties, and starts getting in even more trouble with his bosses, he can’t let Emma die though, he loves her too much.
Can Finn keep Emma safe? Why does Maeve want to kill her so badly? And is there any hope for Emma and Finns love?

I loved this book! The suspense and romance were just riveting and I really couldn’t put this down!

The characters in this book were great. I loved how Finn loved Emma so much that he risked everything for her, and I loved how he watched over her and kept her safe even when it got him in trouble.
I also liked Emma, I loved how she baked for therapy, and how she was always there for her best friend Cash when things were difficult for him at home. I liked how she took her tablets, even when she thought she didn’t need them, and tried her best to fight against the things that haunted her.
(I also really want a t-shirt like Cash’s that says "I'm only here because my Flux Capacitor is broken")

I really liked the storyline in this book. I know an angel/reaper in love with a human has been done before, but I really liked how the author told the story, and I loved the suspense in this one. I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen next and I really didn’t want to put this down at all!
The romance between Finn and Emma was really sweet, and I really wanted things to work out for them even when it seemed like the odds were stacked against them. I also really liked the little twists in the story, and the ending was really good too! I really want to read about Cash’s story in the sequel now!
Overall; Great YA paranormal romance about a reaper in love with a human.
9 out of 10.

NOTE: I received the arc of this book from Netgalley.

I was very very excited about Inbetween because I'd heard some awesome things about it. And when I actually got it from Netgalley, I was super joyful!

The beginning was a bit slow to my taste, but once the story picked up pace, it became enthralling to the point where I couldn't put the book down until I was done with it. Unfortunately the end came way too fast. I breezed through Inbetween as if it were a 200 page book!!! Yes, it was really good! And boy, what a cliffhanger!

The story was well thought out, the world was well built with rules and regulations and restrictions that had unforgivable consequences if breached. It was pretty unique as a story, though the concept of impossible love was the same as most other YA books. The descriptions of Heaven, Hell and the Inbetween sounded quite realistic to me.

The characters:
*Emma was your average girl, who had no idea who she really was. Nor did she have any idea that her life was at stake because of a 17 year old feud. She didn't even suspect that she had a protector who's ready to give his very existence over to Hell to see her live her life. Yet, she suspects all those things, because she may be blind, but she's not stupid. And the loss of her father has scarred her heart forever. Now the wound is open again as her mom is trying to begin living again.

*Finn was one gorgeous reaper. He was devoted to Emma, and not even his own condemnation could stop him from watching over her. His love for her was so strong and pure, that it overshadowed everything else. Nothing and no one were important. Only Emma.

*Cash was Emma's best friend, who was also a playboy with a hurt soul. I would really love to see him turn from the hardcore player he was, into a lovesick boy. Besides all that, he was a caring, devoted friend.

*Anaya, Easton and Scout were Finn's reaper friends who'd get mad at him for his constant breaking of all sorts of rules in his desire to save Emma from yet another attack. In the end though, even they couldn't stand before love with closed eyes.

Inbetween was a very nice paranormal YA story that I recommend to lovers of this genre.

From my blog Auntie Spinelli Reads

Not gonna lie, I really waffled on writing this review because I wasn't sure what I was going to say. I liked it but it wasn't amazing...the end. Ha.
I've been looking for a good reaper book for a while, because I've read a few in the past that I didn't care for at all. This book didn't wow me like I had hoped, but it was a light and cute read!

I was a little overwhelmed at first, because I had some confusion with the world building. It took a while for me to get to know what everything meant. I didn't know anything about the Inbetween until much later in the book. Once I got used to it though, it was interesting. The way the reapers feel the 'pull' when they're called for a reap, and how there were different reapers for Heaven, Hell, and the Inbetween.

I feel like there wasn't much happening plot-wise. There wasn't a whole lot of action until the last half when Maeve really made a full appearance. Most of the first half was just Finn following Emma around longingly. I was caught between thinking it was romantic and thinking it was creepy. While it was a little weird that he watched her 24/7, I understood his feelings for her. It's hard to want someone that you can't have. And the fact that he had waited so many years for her was endearing.

I couldn't connect with the characters the way I'd hoped, either. While I generally like switching points of view, this one didn't exactly pull it off. There were times when I couldn't tell the difference between Finn and Emma, resulting in a lot of confusion on my end. The secondary characters - Easton, Anaya, and Cash - didn't stand out, either. Don't get me wrong, I liked the book. But again, it didn't wow me. It's one of those that I enjoy in the moment but just doesn't stick in my mind.

I think this book had fantastic potential. I do believe I'll read book 2 when it comes out to see how it develops. :)

Let me start off by saying that whatever you think this book may be about, think again. I personally know the lovely Tara Fuller (winks to bloggy sister) and as authors, of course we can’t help but talk about our stories (even when peeps are no longer listening and we’re just blabbing away) because that’s what we do. And having known some about this story going in, I was surprised that she could be so humble about the amazing story she created. The summary gives you only the tiniest glimpse of what is to be found between the pages.

Told from dual POVs, INBETWEEN begins with an action-packed, heart-wrenching introduction to Finn and Emma. We discover just enough about their story—as these two have a history together—to move forward two years ahead where Finn has become, unknown to Emma, her protector against an evil spirit bent on destroying her.

The story and their history unfolds chapter by chapter giving the reader glimpses into the past, and normally this might have made me a bit crazy going, I want to know! Tell me! But in Tara Fuller’s capable hands, the right amount of information, action, romance, and tension was beautifully executed. There was no part where the story lagged and I became impatient. The description of Hell, Heaven, and the Inbetween kept me flipping the pages, while the depth of the side characters’ own stories grabbed ahold of me and I had to find out more about them. I have to admit, the villain of stories I either hate or love. And Tara created a deeply compelling villain who I understood and sympathized with, but who I also loved to hate. She was brilliant.

A perfect balance of tension, humor and romance, INBETWEEN is addicting. I couldn’t put it down till I knew the whole story, and then I was in love with the characters. This is a must read for all Paranormal Romance lovers, as well as anyone looking for their next fresh YA read.

I absolutely loved this book! The story is addictive, and I was unable to put this book down once I started reading it. Inbetween has an intriguing premise, an engaging writing style, and delightful characters. Fuller offers a captivating take on reapers and the afterlife in this emotional paranormal romance for teens.

Every character in this novel is fully developed. Emma is a sweet, likable character that readers will sympathize with. Although Emma is a bit of a victim at the beginning of the story, she grows stronger and gains more of a take-charge attitude over the course of the novel. Finn is a protective, caring character who is willing to do whatever is necessary to save Emma. The relationship between Emma and Finn is beautiful and emotional. Anaya, Easton, Cash, and even Maeve are all excellent characters as well. As much as I hated Maeve's despicable actions, I also pitied her at times. It is always remarkable when an author is able to make the reader feel badly for the antagonist of the story.

What I especially love about this novel, is that in spite of the seemingly gloomy subject matter, Fuller keeps the story lighthearted. The narrative is sprinkled with humor, and the romantic aspects remain the focus. This was a perfect summer read!

Inbetween is well-written, and is written in a very engaging manner. It has perfect pacing, and is filled with twists and turns and suspense that will keep readers' attention. Furthermore, the complex plot, along with the well thought-out take on life after death will give readers a great deal to think about.

This is the first book in the Kissed by Death series, and I am greatly looking forward to the sequel!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for providing me with an ARC!

Inbetween is a fresh and exciting new take on reapers and true love. Fed-up of vampires and werewolves but still want to read a heart-racing paranormal story? Inbetween is for you.

After Emma survived a car crash three years ago, her life has been filled with never-ending "accidents". Right now, Emma is seventeen-years-old and trying to keep herself sane by focusing on school. But when Finn turns up out of nowhere, Emma feels a tug of familiarity. Finn is the boy who saved her from the car crash, a reaper who wasn't willing to let her die. Now, Emma is falling for him and that could her in more danger than she could ever imagine.

After reading Fuller's debut novel, Perigee Moon, I immediately fell in love with her style of writing and her ability to bring her characters to life. When I found out about this series I just had to read as soon as possible. Come on, a girl falling in love with a reaper while trying not to get herself killed? A story to get your heart racing!

I really, really enjoyed the characters. They were fun and extremely entertaining, especially Cash. Cash is Emma's best friend who sneaks in through her bedroom window every night to check if she's okay. Cash is one of those boys that are loyal and caring, but still knows how to have a good time. He made me laugh a lot throughout the book, and seemed to brighten the most dull of situations. I hope to see more of him in the sequel.

Inbetween is an exciting and heart-pumping novel that I would happily recommend to any who's looking for a cute romance with action and suspense. I'm looking forward to seeing what spins Fuller puts on the sequel.

It's not very often that we find books told by the male POV's and if you were to judge this one by the cover , you wouldn't think that it was told entirely via the male and you would think that the female was more important. However, in Book #1 of the Kissed by Death series , the main character is a guy named Finn who will forever be around 17-19yrs as he is now serving a lifetime in limbo as a reaper for Balthazar. Due to the fact that he died years ago and broke the rules by bringing a human Alison through the portal with him , when she should have lived. His selfish actions have caused him to live in limbo , he has spent his life searching for Alison and he finds her though her name is now Emma and she has been involved in a car accident. Again , Emma should have died but Finn intervened and she survived. Now the Gods aren't happy and there is a Death angel named Maeve out to make sure that Emma is dead as a doornail and to never be reincarnated ever again as she wants to watch Finn suffer for eternity. What will happen though when Emma starts to remember bits and pieces from Alison's life and starts to fall back in love with Finn ? Can they have love when they live on two different parts of the realms ? Can a dead soul and a human really have a loving life ? Or will Finn once again sacrifice his love for Emma so that she can move on and live a happy life without worrying about a love that can never be ?

What a great start to a series!
I loved Finn instantly. Emma was likable, but there was something holding me back from loving her. The connection between Finn and Emma[or lack thereof] was frustrating at first, but my waiting paid off. I enjoyed most of this book, and I had very few complaints.

The thing I find most amazing about this book was how much I fell for the secondary characters, especially Emma's best friend Cash. Usually the secondary characters are just background noise to me. I read that the next book will center on the other characters, I hope that's true. I would love to read about Cash, there's something about him that I really loved.

I am definitely looking forward to the next book in this new series.
