Casper Cat and Susie Sheep are best friends. They do everything together. But when Milly Goat comes along, Casper always gets left out. One day, Casper goes to the park with his mother. He sees lots of children, and when they ask him to join in their game, he's thrilled. But the next time he sees Milly and Susie, they still won't let him join in! Poor little Casper. What will he do? Janet Thomas is a promising new children's book author; Alison Bartlett, who was chosen by Quentin Blake as one of his Baker's Dozen of illustrators, has collaborated on a number of books, including Ten Bright Eyes.
An excellent story about friendship, being excluded and sticking up for yourself. The story is a useful starting point to discuss these issues with children. Bright, colourful illustrations. My one small complaint is the name of the characters (Casper Cat, Susie Sheep, Millie Goat, Dan Dog); not very imaginative. Suzy Sheep and Danny Dog are characters in Peppa Pig so there's that additional confusion.
