This book has many good points... but it introduced broth further in whereas a good bone broth should be eaten before any purées ate introduced. Not paleo, but it still has interesting recipes and it does not masquerade as paleo.
This book shares a lot of information about buying organic...foods that are best to buy organic and foods that are ok not to, etc. There are a lot of basic baby food recipes and I liked the layout of the book. The recipes were clear and easy to follow and most came with extra tips.
My good childhood friend insisted on giving my husband and me a baby food processor and when I caved and accepted his gift, he also paired it with this cookbook. Recipes are fun and very simple. I really like the information about how much solids and breastmilk/formula baby should have and sample weekly menus at each age (i.e., 6-7 months, 8-9 months, 10-12 months, 12+ months). I didn't consider making our baby's food but with the ideas from this book (and the help of the food processor), our almost-6-month-old has had several foods in the last week and a half or so (we've been trying a single food for 3-4 days at a time) and I'm surprised at how easy and inexpensive it is. The recipes for 12+ months are great for the whole family and I'm looking forward to giving them a go in ~6 months' time.
I am always looking for things to help out for them too. You know being a parent does not come with a hand book. Lord, knows it should though. So I have been lucky to find a few that might just hit the spot with the parents though. I want to send to my Turtle and his mom '201 Organic Baby Purees'. He is eating his first foods and seems to be thrilled in all he can grab. And of course we want him to have the very best as all parents do. I know that I made all of College Girls food when she was a babe. But with the options available today it is easy not only to make their food but to have it free of pesticides, hormones, additives and such. Tamika Gardner created SimplyBabyFoodRecipes.net to help moms and share these recipes. And now they are all collated in one book.
Love this little cookbook! Making baby food is easy, sure. But sometimes when you suffer from mommy brain, it's hard to remember how long to you need to steam different foods for. I love the format of this book (divisions into sections by age) with all of the different flavor combos, and the menu plans! Although I don't usually cook with organic foods, this book is applicable to anyone interested in making their own baby food.
I still haven't been able to find how many ounces/cups or whatever = 1 serving?? I searched for it but couldn't find it. Not sure if it's in there, but it would be useful info to be able to prepare ahead!
Of all the baby food books I've read this seems like the most helpful. The recipes are easy to follow, have a good variety, and actually sound delicious.
