Ladies of Gold Volume One: The Remarkable Ministry of the Golden Candlestick
Ladies of Gold Volume One begins a three-volume compilation of the visionary teachings of Frances Metcalfe and the members of the Golden Candlestick, a Christian fellowship of individuals who lived in a California mountain community beginning a little more than seven decades ago. This fellowship of Christians attuned to the guidance of the Holy Spirit shared their visions with others, communicating the essence of their moments of rapture when they were translated into the heavenly realms. This collection presents various visions and a miscellany of excerpts that give a taste of the riches recorded in the journals, missionaries’ notes, and newsletters of the fellowship.

As an accomplished theologian, James holds a D.D., a Th.D. and a Ph.D. He taught in Bible schools for over twenty years and has authored several exciting books: The Dancing Hand of God, The Panoramic Seer, Overwhelmed by the Spirit, Aletheia Eleutheroo, The Wounded Cry, and the Freedom Series. His forthcoming work is entitled The Lord in the Fires. Wow - I devoured this book in less than 24 hours. For me it was like seeing my own experience and the path of discovery that God has had me on played out in someone elses life too - but even further than what I have experienced at this point! I just kept on saying to myself while reading it, me too - that's what God has shown me too! It made me hungry, ravishingly hungry for the more that I have not yet experienced and it gave me hope and expectation that God is going to do it in me too and has me on a journey. Union with Christ. No veil between the natural and heavenly realms. Experiential walk with Jesus my bridegroom. I want it all.

Another great book by James Maloney, one that can help you enter into a deeper walk with God. I read it over a few months time, underlining and prayerfully looking into passages that helped me. James has complied many of the teachings and writings of Frances Metcalfe who was the founder of the Golden Candlestick. There are meaningful truths that can help bring us into a more intimate relationship with God. I personally came to understand praise and worship in a way I never saw before. Ladies of Gold is a book for all believers. Kindle edition.

I worked my way through this slowly. As it is a collection a writings rather than a continuous narrative, the format lent well to popping in and out of it.
These writings were so full of beauty! I especially appreciated the From Rapture into Translation, the last three about praise (Making Glorious, Perfecting, don't remember the other name), and the one about the Vine and the Branches.
There was so much wonderful encouragement and perspective throughout. I believe I'll pick this up for a pick me up, again and again.

This has a devotional kind-of-book feel to it. The author compiled the writings of a group of ladies from early to middle part of the 20th century, some he got to know when he was a youth. These women would probably be classified as Christian mystics.
I especially enjoyed the writings that focused on the subject of praise and worship. They were some of the best I've read on the subject. Here's a couple of quotes that struck me -
"When you feel nothing but the pain and desolation, give God the SACRIFICE OF PRAISE, which is well pleasing unto Him. And remember, dear one, you are still joined to the Vine! You are not barren; you are only bare." (Pg 119)
"It is to be expected that Satan will especially attack praise. Lucifer's fall was brought about through a jealousy of the worship of JHVH. And Satan has been trying to extinguish His worship ever since, or if that is impossible, to corrupt it." (Pg 223)
"Our precious Christ can never be made too much of. Heaven itself is but just good enough for Him. All the pomp that angels and archangels, and thrones, and dominions, and principalities, and power, can pour at His feet is too little for Him. His people can never extol Him enough." (Pg 233)
I was hoping to read more of their experiences in their walk with Christ but this book focused mostly on their thoughts and teachings, a lot of which was review for me. For that reason, I give it 3 to 3.5 stars.

So far this book is identifying God's Mysterious ways! Seek and You shall find, He will Reveal Himself to you, ask and it shall be given unto you! Psalms 8:4-6 this book is forming a hunger that only He God Almighty can satisfy! Experiencing more of God, In the Natural and the Supernatural. After all without God, there wouldn't be any Supernatural.
