This book was great. I loved the action and the story. The detail was great, and I loved the setting of Kniveacres. This book reminded me of Ghost and Bone. Except better. I loved this book. It was great.

There is two twin boy and sister they have not been together All the life. There names are Dominic (Nick) and Imogen (Mog). Mog was named after her mother, their mother died when they were 2 months. What goes on it the story the "uncle" takes them to his house to live there. They had a teacher who help them with clubs that who is there father. The teacher die,and after that everyone hates them. What I like about this is that it is mystery and I love the book.

Was gonna be five stars but the ending was too wishy washy, saying that things that happened can be explained however you want them to be... I would have rather they said if something was true or false. I like a bit of speculation but this ending left everything a bit too open. Like was it damyata that killed bonefinger? Was it a scarecrow come to life? Was he really there in their room? Did he actually leave those notes for the kids? Was he even there?? Did Lamb purposefully turn them into scarecrows so they'd be thrown on the fire? If so, why did he then help them escape the next day? If they couldn't hide Lash the dog, why didn't bonefinger take him as a way to coax the kids out of hiding? Was it definitely bonefinger that pushed the gargoyle? I thought there was going to be a twist and he was nearby trying to protect them... Was Ms Thynne murdered or did she actually hang herself?

the book was decent, i'll give it that. i found the story a bit predictable, and i felt that the end ing was incredibly rushed, but scenes like with the former tutor before she was ridden of and the way the secret passages were hidden in the story were interesting to read. not one of the best books, but not horrible either.

This is the middle book of the Printers Devil series - the other two i highly enjoyed.
This book starts at an interesting place -infact practically at the events portrayed on the front cover - it is not till some way in to the book do you get an explaination of how the two characters got from where we left them at the end of the Printers Devil and the events they are witnessing now. However it does all add to the main story which you see slowly unfolding and which are only explained in the final volume - The City Spirits.
This book now takes the established characters and pits them against a more insideous enemy - their past or more importantly the past they were born in to - slowly through the book do you start to see what is going on - all of which builds to the climax. The book has a different feel to it that the first partly because of the change in location partly due to the change in adversity they are put through.

Mog and Nick have been whisked away from London to live in the dilapidated estate of a distant relative. But Mog's insatiable curiosity once more pulls the twins into the midst of a dangerous mystery.
This YA adventure novel is both darker and more exciting than The Printer's Devil, with plenty of on the edge of your seat thrills to keep your heart racing. Who is the mysterious Damyata and what does he want? What secret is Sir Septimus hiding about his past association with the twin's mother? Who did Bonefinger bury in the woods, and is he responsible for the 'accidents' threatening the twin's lives? Is there a curse on the Cloy family?
I highly recommend you read the book and find out.

read the printer's devil first...

This is a very action packed book and sometimes kind if creepy. I would definitely only recommend this to older kids like young adults because there is some tricky language.

I thought this was an outstanding read, especially for 4th or 5th graders. Before I let my daughter read a book I read it first to make sure it is appropriate for her. I was intrigued from the beginning and had no clue to how it ended. I will be looking for other reads from this author.

It's a truth, universally acknowledged, that sequels often disappoint. This book was not bad, but nowhere near as enjoyable as the first book.
