This book answers many questions children may have about grasshoppers. Grasshoppers are actually very interesting.  This book describes but does not name incomplete metamorphosis, so the difference between complete and incomplete metamorphosis could be pointed out to the children. Complete metamorphosis is usually known by children who have observed caterpillars and butterflies. The book describes life from the viewpoint of the grasshopper

An engaging, educational peek into a grasshopper's life for young readers, with vibrant illustrations.
The book cleverly combines fun facts with storytelling, making entomology exciting and the art complements the text, bringing the insect world to life. Ideal for sparking children's interest in nature.

“I like where they were being born and when they were shedding their skin. I don’t like that they all die. And I want to jump with them!” - Luke

Luke picked this book out because he knows grasshoppers terrify me and learning more about them didn’t help the cause, so that’s great. - mama

I expected this book to feel dry and dated, but it actually felt interesting and relatable. The way the story was written felt personable and the text was very informative without feeling boring.

This book includes the characteristics of a grasshopper. It discusses what its mother would look like and that the father would look the same. It discusses how your skin will change and you will grow wing buds. Then you will develop stubby wings.
I rated this book 3 stars. It is a great informational book for younger kids and tells them about grasshoppers. Obviously the book is not as interesting to me in my personal life.

A great book for what it is: an informative book about the characteristics and life cycle of grasshoppers.
