Faced with inept leadership, outlaw bikers, gangs, and crooked cops, each day is another unique challenge. Down, but not out, the fine men and women of law enforcement combine their talents and work together to "foil" the bad guys and live to fight crime for another day. Editorial I've been telling friends and family about this book. My mother is a fan of murder and detective stories. As a former Milwaukee PD homicide detective, I read many things in this book that seemed more like fact that fiction. From the south side gang war, to the politics within the MPD, the rivalry between the FBI and ATF, to the dialog used by the detectives, this book lays it out for those interested in knowing what big city policing is all about. The depiction of the criminal justice process is accurate as well, whether it's a charging conference at the DA's office, a preliminary hearing, the filing of motions, or the media's input into events.

One of the best police procedural novels that I have read. The setting is Milwaukee, Wis. and its police force. The detail about gangland homicides and the verbiage of the cops and detectives makes this book really interesting.
