In 15 years of teaching, this is with a doubt one of the very best stories for children I have EVER read. Year after year, class after class, amongst hundreds of children, this has been the children's favourite by FAR! Paul Warren is a master storyteller and illustrator who weaves a magical tale of good versus evil, set amongst the mythical land of 'The Three Counties'. Written very much as a comical Tolkien type fantasy but for young children, Muffin Pigdoom, the central hero of the book, embarks on a dangerous quest with his two gibblin pals to save another friend from the terrible Urgs. Wonderful whimsical illustrations, engaging characters, simple but exciting stories. This is a book to read aloud to enthralled 4-8yr olds and for children to read themselves and be spellbound by. Highly recommended!
