Third eye open is like a spiritual onion. In each and every chapter we are encouraged to peel back another level of ourselves in order to find new ways to connect with and to learn about our higher selves. I resonated with this book because I have always been an intuitive, right brained thinker with my head in the clouds. Even if you are a left brained thinker, I still encourage you to read this book as we are all connected to spirit and you are probably even more connected than you realize. I was able to validate myself and a lot of my deepest, personal thoughts through Susan's writing.

My favorite chapter of this book was the dream chapter. I felt inspired enough to create a journal where I record any and all dreams that I remember. We can be our own psychics by breaking down the messages in our dreams. All of the answers are lying within us - we just have to pay attention.

My main critique for Third Eye Open is that Susan related a lot of the exercises in the book to her personal trauma's and experiences. I totally understand why she did this and I appreciate her opening up and making peace with her trauma...However, I do think it was tough to relate to being someone who has not (thankfully and luckily) experienced the level of trauma that Susan has. When trying to follow some of the exercises I had a tough time coming up with my own life examples as they weren't on the same level as Susan's.

This was my absolute FAVORITE quote from the book and I will continue to live my life through this quote - we all should!

"We live in the age of Aquarius, the era of the individual choosing an inner revolution that brings outer change. We cannot expect the earth to reflect a peaceful, clean & harmonious environment until we create our own inner balance and harmony."

This is a test. This is only a test.

Mounds of food for thought, puzzles to solve, helpful lessons to learn, some of which you may consider "out there," depending on the limits of your world view, which can always expand if you embrace change. I enjoyed the writer's relationship to animals of all kinds, from snakes to dolphins, even a barracuda, and her awareness of our need to care for "Mother Earth." This inspiring narrative provides a wealth of insights and exercises for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual growth. Smörgåsbord of tools for inner exploration and growth came to mind, as I travelled the author's remarkably honest personal saga. Highly recommended reading. Kevin Thomas Morgan

I am a left brain person but I've always wanted to expand my right brain capabilities which is why I read this book. Don't think it really helped me. Maybe I have to read it again?

Most of the examples in the book dealt with the author's dysfunctional family and her childhood abuses. I don't come from the background so it's hard for me to relate to her examples. I did try some of the exercises but felt like they weren't successful or I was uncomfortable with them. There was a chapter on psychic dreaming. I usually never remember my dreams. Using the exercises for two nights in a row worked. Unfortunately, I work up in the middle of those two nights with nightmares. Apparently I have unfinished business?

I admire people with right brain creativity and intuitiveness. I will get there one day. This book may be of help with that goal but I would have to re-read it and work the exercises again. Hopefully with better results.

I really like this book. I like dipping into it again and again for inspiration. It seems I always happen on the right page for the right moment and it always provides good food for thought. I especially like Susan's take on dream interpretation and intuition and her personal examples are fantastic. It is written with a light and compassionate touch and with good humor. A really nice book.
