WORKING INSIDE OUT

Rate this book
The classic book on practical meditation, updated and revised.Originally published in 1984, Working Inside Out is one of the first books to bring pragmatic meditation techniques to westerners. Now, for the first time, the classic meditation book is paired with a specially created audio CD of guided meditations. Adair teaches the reader to use symbols that make meditation available to even the most restless and busy people. Adair has updated her original work to reflect the latest thinking on meditation and its applications, including updates to many meditations, updates and revisions to all chapters and new writing on using meditation to address social issues. The book includes more than 45 guided meditations, a select number of which are contained on the 72-minute audio CD. "Both pragmatic and visionary, this book is a must for people who are seriously determined to improve their lives."-Philip Slater, author of Pursuit of American Culture at the Breaking Point"A very important, common sense book about our awareness of ourselves and our responsibility to become what we can be. We should hear its message."-Vine Deloria Jr., author of Red Earth, White Lies

A complete program in guided meditation. Some newer editions include a CD, which is invaluable - even if you have someone to read it to you, the meditations are very long.

Found this one (my favorite growth book)...rich in meditations but not your usual "self-help" this guided, directed & progressive work will well inspire healthy thought. Stumbled upon it in the "Laundry Room exchange" at a former apartment complex.

Here is a small passage!

"...We deserve more. Life offers more. We know that avoiding conflict doesn't make it disappear, much less resolve it. We can relax getting off the treadmill, and then our alienation will catch up with us, forcing us to face it head-on. If we are to become whole, we have no choice but to heal our alienation..." and then Margo shares the means to this healing..through guided meditation..

Interessant boek met veel voorbeelden van meditaties om je intuïtie te activeren. Bij een andere (nieuwere) uitgave zit een cd met meditaties die erg de moeite waard is.

Though it was written in 1984 and I read it in 2017 this book is still amazingly relevant and some sentences could have been written this morning. Our relationship to the world and each other is still equally terrifying. The political climate is similar to when it was written. But her hope is also contagious. Working from the inside out we can change ourselves and thereby change the world. These are still important concepts.
