I enjoyed this book-I love sea adventure stories--but by the time I got to the end I felt like there were too many loose ends that were never resolved. (I feel the same way after LOST episodes.)

I didn't expect this book to be scary. It was very fun to read. I thought the monster was only one. I like this book.

This is the story of Captain Nemo and his famous submarine, the Nautilus. One day, Nemo finds three men in the cold sea. For 20,000 leagues the men live together on the Nautilus. They find a town on the sea floor, beautiful coasts and lots of gold. But they are not happy. Can they escape from Nemo’s submarine and live?
其中Nemo船長的潛水艇叫Nautilus(鸚鵡螺號)。
他們在海底發現的城市就是頂頂大名的ATLANTIS(亞特蘭提斯)。
Nemo船長是個避世的人,他的想法是:“I love the sea! It’s our only friend. People can’t make problems for us here.”由於避世,他不肯將那意外進入的三人送回陸地,他說:“You can see a lot of interesting things. But you can never go home.”因為“We don’t want stories in the newspapers about us.”。

Honestly, I think it's just me but I've read Journey to the Center of the Earth and loved it so I thought I'd give 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea a try. I was disappointed. I found the concept and the imagination incredible but the execution of it very boring. It's possible that it's a sign of the times. 20,000 was written in 1870? and I'm just not able to engage that well. I'm glad I read it but I didn't enjoy it as much as Journey...

While the book is ostensibly an adaptation of Verne’s original, this follows the Disney film’s abbreviated adventure version of the story. As such, we get more seals and Ned Land and a hell of a lot of colour photographs from the production. Aimed at a younger audience, it lacks the sophistication of storytelling found in either the Verne book or the Fleischer production. As a souvenir from the 1950s, this is a wonderful piece of Disney memorabilia. For fans of the book or film, you’d be better off sticking with the source material. Nevertheless, it’s a fine companion, and that’s all any of us wants in life, right?

This book is an adapted version of the original work. I like it very much. I love the illustrations.

The book is about Dr Arronax, his servant and Ned, the whaler on the Nautilus, a submarine with captain Nemo.
