Ginger Burke considers herself a hard-assed bitch. She micromanages every aspect of her world, including the subs she controls as a part time, professional Domme. No one has ever been foolish enough to think she has a soft side.Selleck Mathews knows what it’s like to hide behind what others expect, letting down his guard only around the gentle compassion of his partner, Neil Trygstad, who wants nothing more than to love and be loved. Together they are nearly content except they long for someone to laugh at Neil’s jokes and crave Selleck’s gentle dominance.Ginger’s needs ring in her voice and shimmer in her expressive blue eyes. Once the guys decide to break through her shell and find the sweet center, they have no intention of letting up until her control snaps and she settles in their arms for the ideal holiday, perhaps even the perfect forever.
As reviewed on kinkybookreviews.com: Ginger Burke is called “The Fire Queen” by some people in her office. Well, that’s one of the nicer things they call her. Now that she’s partner in her family’s law firm, she has to be the best and above reproach. If that means she has to push those who work for her a bit, well, they should work harder anyway. When she has hardware trouble before an important video conference, she makes sure that the manager of the company knows her displeasure.
Selleck Matthews understands what it’s like to present a face to the world… and the stress it creates. While being blasted by the infamous Ms Burke, he hears something in her voice that makes him wonder if she can be the one that he and his partner, Neil Trygstad, have been looking for. Selleck and Neil are in a committed relationship but they both know they are missing a woman in their lives. When Selleck sends Neil in to fix the hardware issue and scope out Ms Burke, things get really interesting.
I’ve only read one other book by LC Dean. It was a good quick Halloween read. I saw this book scheduled to be released on November 15th and decided that I needed to check it out. I’m so glad I did. This story is HOT. I loved the interplay between Ginger and the guys. Neil is fun and sweet. He’s submissive toward Selleck but definitely Dom toward Ginger. Selleck is Dom all the way... and I loved the nativity scene. It won’t be easy to break through Ginger’s walls and earn her trust. Luckily, Selleck and Neil can do a double attack.
There was really only one thing that bothered me in this story. Even tho she has NO time for a private life with her law career, Ginger moonlights as Mistress Gigi. Since most who would read a BDSM story have at least a basic knowledge, it removes the time it would take to introduce Ginger and cover things most readers would already know anyway. That’s not a bad thing, I just thought it contradictory.
I will definitely recommend this book. It’s hot. It’s sweet. It’s a fast read. I do wish there was a bit more of a connection with the characters, and more info about what happened after, but it was still a good solid book. I definitely look forward to reading more by Ms. Dean.
Ginger Snaps for Two was my first LC Dean book and was well written and engaging. However, it was only 82 pages long and I had the same problems with it that I have with all short books, hence it only got three stars. Because it is so short, it dives straight in with no build up and there is some back story lacking (or in this case revealed much later in the book) to make you understand why the characters are the way they are. It was still a good read but I thought there was more story there than was actually written. I'll certainly be reading more by this author but I'll probably look for longer works.
