Just Say Yes! Confirmed bachelor Dr. Marcos Calderon is in hot water. He needs to come up with a fake fiancée fast or he’ll disappoint his beloved grandma who’s arriving on the next flight to meet her. Proper social worker Gabriela Morales should fit the bill—but tonight, in that sexy, slit-to-there red evening gown, she looks anything but proper.
Gabriela only volunteered for the hospital’s charity bachelorette auction to benefit a cause dear to her heart. Now she’s reeling from the hot doctor’s bid of fifteen thousand dollars for a weekend date with her! She’s not sure what Dr. Handsome has in mind, but the smoldering look in his eyes is unmistakable…

Very good story with a sweet heroine and a playboy hero. The hero was dating someone but he knew his Grandma would not like her so he targeted the h. His Grandma was coming for the weekend so he needed a fake fiance. He bid on her at an bachelorette auction and the date was for the weekend. She is very prude and button upped, or at least he thinks so, and he bribes her with a donation to her favorite charity. There are some cute scenese like when his girlfriend showed up for a date that he had forgot to cancel. She was pretty evil I must say. He said they were just casually dating but it seemed like they had been intimate. It never really clarifies that and I hated her so I took away one star. She kisses him and tries to put her hand on his thigh while eating dinner with the Grandmother and his fake fiancee and just is awful. He tells the heroine that he is ending his relationship with the hussy but she doesn't give up easily. There are a couple of scenese but you could tell that he had totally moved on and was in love with the heroine. I liked the h alot. I really ended up liking the book. I wasn't sure because of the evil ow but it ended up being very sweet. Loved the Grandma. She was a hoot. It was not lol funny but it was humorous in parts and I liked that. There are two kisses with the OW but he did not initiate it or seem to welcome it. Normally that would make me hate the book but it didn't in this case for some reason. Loved the makeover and Cinderella aspect of the novel. I will try this author again.
I am a big fan of Sophia Knightly and I've read a lot of her books. This one, however, just didn't do it for me. The reasons were probably because it contained a trigger that's a tough one for me...life experience and all!
So which trigger? Give me just a minute and I'll get there. Dr. Marcos Calderon is a confirmed bachelor and playboy. He needs to find a fake fiance quickly so his grandmother, who's coming for a visit, won't be disappointed in him.
He chooses proper social worker Gabriela Morales and purchases her services through an auction at the hospital. She's a lovely person but, our handsome doctor is quite insulting as he thinks that her looks and conservative clothing would never support his lifestyle and no one would believe he would really date someone like her, let alone become engaged. He sees her as dull, boring and plain so he demands new clothes and a makeover. He was a jerk and an a$$. I didn't care for him throughout the entire book, not even the happy ending. During this whole charade he continues to see a woman he's having an affair with, a really nasty doctor whom he works with. She found out about the engagement and decided she would not let him go. She insinuates herself between then and shows up when the pretend engaged couple is together with him never asking her to leave. She is set on making Gabriela's life miserable and it sickened me that he let this lover hang around, paws all over him and kiss him when he was with Gabriela. When she showed up it was without invitation. And even worse he did nothing when she began to insult Gabriela in front of him and his grandmother.
Had I known this book contained another woman he was going to continue seeing while pretending to be engaged to Gabriela I would never have read it. I was quite disappointed as I have never run into this issue with Ms Knightly's books before.
This book started out fair and just went down hill and the story moved along. Would I recommend? I will say this. I would never read it again if that helps you but you must remember it contained a trigger that is quite disturbing for this reader.
Sophia Knightly has done it again, this a a fantastic read, I enjoyed it from start to finish, who doesn't wanna fall in love with a hot doctor and have him fall madly in love with you in return.
I guess I will not be able to stop reading these free kindle ebooks, no matter how much they disappoint me. I mean....they're free...of course I'll read them, but is it too much to ask for that the ending of the books will be as great as the beginning??? It can't be that hard can it?
This book. Once again. It started of SO GOOD, but it kept getting worse from page to page. 2.5 Stars. If the ending would have been more spectacular I would have given it 3. Oh well.
I didn't realize this was a novella and I am used to reading books about 8 times as long as this so I quickly had to adjust my thoughts on the depth and pace of the story.
Overall, it was a good, short & simple story. I thought the characters were written well and the dialogue, albeit a teensy bit cheesy every so often, was decent.
Finished the book but took me a while to get past an issue with Marcos and Alex names. It was Dr Alex Marcos originally then Dr Alex Cortes later in the book. It was confusing. Also the use of word plurals was not done well - the use of -s's and -s'
Sold on You is a light, easy read that’s amusing and alluring to anyone that’s a romantic at heart. I enjoyed the characters and was able to easily connect with them and feel their frustrations and plights. I loved that the heroine, Gabriela, wasn’t the usual cookie cutter heroine that you usually see in romance novels: thin and blonde. Gabriela is a raven-haired, green-eyed, curvaceous Latina and her counterpart, Marcos, is a tall, dark, and handsome Argentinean.
The author, Sophia Knightly does an excellent job in giving her heroine balance. Though Gabriela makes it clear that she is independent, she doesn’t have that aggressive attitude that can come off as annoying. She’s a lovable character that’s easy to root for. Marcos, on the other hand, is annoying, but charmingly so. He knows what he wants, and he expects to have his way. It was fun to see him stew when his Abuelita turned his scheme against him as well as in the humorous dinner scenes in the novel.
The story that Knightly created is an enjoyable one. It’s a sweet romance between two stubborn people that begins with a wacky scheme. The push and pull of emotion in this story will entangle you, not letting you go until you reach the very last page. Sold On You is easily a book you can devour in one sitting. I highly recommend it.
Sold on You: Alpha Male To Romance | Tropical Heat Series Book 3
The love story of Maros and Gabriels. Gabriel is a very prim proper social work who work at the hospital Maros is a doctor at. At a Bachelorette Auction he his on her and won. Maros want her to be his fake fiancee so his grandmother can stop matchmaking. If was for the weekend but grandmother want to stay for a week. Will Maros and Gabriel be able to play flake engagement for a week or will love bloom? Great story
I tend to avoid books with couples or hunky men on the front- think of it as a preset bias. I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to pick them up. Sophia's book has a sexy couple on the front. *insert dooming music* Only it wasn't dooming at all! From the first pages I instantly feel in love the characters She creates a beautiful character arc. I wanted the book to go! "Give me more, dammit." The playboy Marcos is full of self-confidence that makes you want to hate him or at least view him as Gabriela does in the beginning! It seems that all things change with this book. The humor thrown in fun and makes you smile as you read. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Marcos' grandmother! My mom came from the Old Country, and I could just imagine that my grandma was like this too- only insert French accent. The only problem I had was that I wanted more background. Sophia adds in little bits and pieces but there are some things that are left unsaid. I want some back memories! This is an excellent, lighthearted read. I smiled my way through it. It is a quick read though. I did not read the first book in the series, Wild For You, so I can't comment on if it follows the same vein, but this book easily stands alone. I highly recommend it for those that like makes-you-smile-at-the-end kind of reads. The sexual element is not overwhelming, but makes you feel for the two characters as their relationship develops. This book is fabulous and I can't wait to read other works by Sophia Knightly. I hope everyone picks it up and reads it. Thank you, Sophia for the chance to read such a wonderful book and opening my eyes to a different aspect of romance!
Story of Marcos Calderon, brother of Marisol, who is the subject of Wild For You. Marcos, being the elder, is feeling pressure to marry, and is about to receive a visit from his grandmother. He wants her to believe that he is engaged to marry a nice, traditional, Latina. To this end, Marcos "buys" Gabriela Morales, a social worker at the hospital where Marcos is head of obstetric surgery at a hospital fundraising auction.
She is horrified, since she considers him to be too much of a player to be a real prospective. She decides to go through with it, since the bachelorette auction is raising money for a cause dear to her heart. The predictable complications arise: they find each other too attractive; there is another woman that Marcos has been dating who is not interested in giving him up; past memories enter into their thinking; Abuelita figures out what's going on; prejudices about money factor in.
They take a while to reach it, but there is an HEA.
Nope. I was not convinced by this story. Not at all.
It started off okay and I would have given it maybe a 3-star rating until the middle part. But from there on the book kinda lost me. I dunno how or why but I seriously lost interest in that whole book. Especially the last chapters where a) kinda confusing and b) totally annoying and boring. I felt like there was no plot anymore. Dunno. What really made me roll my eyes was the . Boy, when the book is pretty much over I don't need that on the last 2 pages. *headdesk*
So yes, at the beginning it had its moments but when downhill from there on. I didn't really feel nor care for any of the characters, was pretty much like reading a totally scheme F book and the plot was dull. Not convincing and seriously disappointed.
This book is second in Tropical Heat Series. It can be read as a stand alone book and there is a little angst but no cliff hangers. Sold on You is a quick paced book with a Bossy Alpha Male and a Sweet Independent Female who start off their relationship with a scheme to fool his grandmother into thinking they are engaged. The relationship has it ups and downs and some angst thrown in to keep the story interesting by a hateful woman who is determined to blow this farce to pieces. Will this scheme turn into real love? This book has a few typos but the characters are believable and the plot is quick paced and interesting.
Cheesy story -- like a harlequin masquerade story except without the revenge aspect - but less well executed than a Harlequin. It was choppy and disjointed with a lot of telling, not showing. There was insufficiently fleshing out of the characters, their interactions, and the development of the relationship. And the dialogue was really tacky: "You rock my world." Really??? A grown-up doctor says that???
Exhilarating exciting....I loved the continuation of the story from the first book...Marcos was so arrogant in the first book, this was a great way to humble him...it was fun to see how the astute can have beautiful and sexy hiding..I look forward to reading more off your wonderful books. Thank you Sophia!
If you haven't read Sold on You you really need to go and grab a copy and read it!!!! it was an amazing story and Sophia Knightly knows what she is doing with the words she puts on paper.
I read this as part of the Kissed at Christmas boxed set and I absolutely loved it!!
This was a light, fun read that I really enjoyed. We meet Gabriela a Sassy Latino who will do just about anything to raise money for her favorite charity....even pretend to be the fiance of her nemesis and a pain in the ass Doctor from the hospital she works at as a social worker. Marcos needs a fiance, stat and he thinks he knows the perfect woman for the job....Gabriela. She is nothing like the blonde bombshells he normally dates and since she is Latino, he thinks that she will please (and fool) his grandmother. He finds out she is part of a fundraiser for the Fresh Start Center and is knocked for a loop when he sees her up on stage. Emotions start to emerge that he never expected to happen. He is a confirmed bachelor that is determined to stay single...or is he?
Sparks fly with these two. Tempers flair, passions ignite, hearts get broken.
Great character development. I didn't fall in love with the characters but I did fall into major like to them. Their banter was engaging and easy to follow. Good story line and the descriptions to details were done nicely and easy to visualize.
This is book 3 of the series but can be read alone. I started on book 3 but will be going back to read book 1 and 2 as well since I loved this one so much. Written as a multi pov. I could have used a lil more of Marcos pov but all in all, this was done nicely.
Marcos needs to produce a fiancee that he told his grandmother he had but really doesn't. Gabriella has more important things to do than to be a pawn in some rich and good looking doctors pretend fiancee. The temptation comes when Marcos says he will make a very large donation to a cause very near to Gabriella. Will these two find love in each other while in their fake engagement?
This was a great story with good character development. Has a more old fashioned theme but great read.
In Sold On You Dr. Marcos Calderon needs a fiancée for the week-end to cover a lie he made to his grandmother. A charity auction, an agreement to be Marcos's fake fiancée, getting caught and falling in love made Sold On You a fun sexy romance with a happy ending.
Gabriela Morales finds she wants to move from a fake fiancée to a real one and with the help of her future sister-in-law, her future grandmother and a plan to teach Marcos a lesson this fun love story has a happy ending.
"Sold On You" is a sweet, not too spicy contemporary romance. The double fake-out adds interest to a rather predictable storyline, and the characters are likeable (especially Abuelita, who's a charming rogue).
I enjoyed the bantering between the main characters as they both found themselves falling in love. The flair if the Spanish language gave a depth to the book.
An easy read romance might be what you are looking for this summer. You’ll find just that with Sophia Knightly’s Sold on You.
A successful doctor finds himself needing a temporary fiancé to please visiting grandmother. He looks to a colleague to do just that, but in bidding at the bachelorette sale he finds that beneath the serious work woman is a hot one who wants to stay hidden. He gets more surprises as the weekend moves into the week and he finds himself with both feet in his mouth, four women bearing down on him, and surprisingly falling in love. Just a typical week. J
I had the pleasure of reading Ms. Knightly’s book, Wild for You, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to say that this one was even better than one. I fell in love with the characters especially the grandmother. I want to be like her when I get older.
Don’t read this book and try to see it as something that could actually happen. Then you’ll feel like it is not what you expect. This is a story. This is a love affair that allows you to escape reality and enter the world of “what if” with a smile on your face. That’s what I want, and that’s exactly what I got in this story.
The spunkiness of Ms. Knightly’s women gives the story humor and the necessary conflict to keep the reader entertained. It is also fun watching men think they have it all under control. Ms. Knightly shows the truth of how women really have the power.
This summer check out Sold on You. It will be a great beach read or one to read on the plane.
Note: This book was provided by the author with no expectation of a positive review.
This is the second book in a series and the first for me. I usually enjoy the pretend to by my girlfriend/wife/fiance for a family member type books. This one was a little different. I enjoyed it for the most part. Gabriela was a little annoying at times and to be honest, I probably would have been more upset than she was. Marcos abuela was adorable. I also liked how when they spoke Spanish it was translated for those of us who are not bilingual.
I wish there was more dialogue for us between Gabriela and Marcos. It's really how I get to enjoy my characters and learn more about them but instead we just kind of learn that they love each other by how they think about it. It's hard to say but I think what I was looking for was more of the journey of how they got there by them spending more time together.
For me this was just alright. I'm not sure if reading the first book would have helped me to learn more or understand them better or if it's just me.
Social worker Gabriela Morales allows herself to be auctioned off to raise funds for an unwed mother's program. Growing up poor, she knows the difference the smallest kindness can make. Dr. Marcos Calderon is wealthy, handsome and in need of a counterfeit fiancé. Gabriela fits the bill but he doesn't count on his reaction to seeing her all dressed up. After winning her in the auction, he makes a bargain that will change both their lives forever. If they're willing to take a chance.
Sold on You is a fun, quick read. Gabriela is a wonderful heroine whose willingness to do all for her cause is endearing and sparks a bit of humor. I loved to see her struggle to reconcile her prejudices against the real Marcos. Marcos is well-written and his love for his grandmother will melt your heart. Ms. Knightly has enough flips on the plot to earn a place on my keeper shelf.
Tropical Heat Series by Sophia Knightly gave me EVERYTHING I want in a romance read. Sophia Knightly gives us CLASSIC Contemporary Romance is this two book series.
The Tropical Heat steamed off the pages as Sophia hit all three must haves for an amazing contemporary read:
An Alpha male who thinks he knows best. Smart, sassy and seriously funny heroine who is lovable and relatable Storyline with love, betrayal, and bad guys. And dear Miss Knightly was kind enough to give us happy endings to cap off her wonderfully sexy reads! Both books can be read and are sold separately, but can be bought in a bundle also.
An absolute must read for all contemporary romance fans.
Another great book by Sophia Knightly. I loved the characters in this book. Gabriela, is a social worker, and a beautiful woman who hides behind baggy clothes and glasses at work, so that she will be taken seriously. Marcos, is a doctor, who knows he is handsome and likes being single. Enter his beloved grandma, who wants to see him married, and the fun begins. Although this book can be read alone, if you read "Wild for You" first, you will understand the connection between Marisol, Marcos, and grandma better. She may be old, but she is one tough cookie. And Marcos does not stand a chance when Gabriela, Marisol and grandma, set out to teach him a lesson!!
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
