"Christopher Columbus" by Mary Dodson Wade (Scholastic - publisher) is a great way to introduce young students to the story of Christopher Columbus. This book includes many illustrations that children would find fascinating, as that time period was so different from today. It also includes several maps which students could use to further their knowledge.
I think this book is a good resource. Besides the story; a time line of Christopher Columbus' life and a glossary round out the information provided to the reader.

Deanna, 5yo: I liked that I got to know about Christopher Columbus. I also liked how Queen Isabella looked. I also liked the three ships: Nina, Santa Maria, and Pinta.
