It was exciting, heart breaking and I loved this book, moving on to book 2.

This series was going for pretty cheap on Kindle, and I'm a big fan of vampires and werewolves, so I figured I'd give it a go.

The plot itself is somewhat generic, but still had the potential to be fun and exciting. Unfortunately, it's the horribly dull writing style that really killed this one for me. The author is particularly bad at writing action scenes - he actually makes a bloody fight between four werewolves and a vampire gang sound boring. I'm guessing he's more of a werewolf fan, because the vampires in this series are treated as little more than disposable bad guys. I quickly became very bored of reading blandly written paragraphs of Landon effortlessly slashing yet another vamp to pieces.

Even when a major event happens, there just doesn't feel like there's any sense of urgency attached to it. A particular important character is killed, but it's described so quickly and badly that it barely even registered to me. An actual line from the book - "His cancer was immediately cured." Oh, no big deal or anything. Even when the threat of rape comes up, it's just stated so bluntly and without any emotion. There doesn't feel like there's any weight attached to these actions and even the characters don't seem to care. It just feels like the line was thrown in to assure the readers that Landon was totally in the right for slaughtering those nasty vampires.

The character development in this series is also very poor, and I didn't find myself really caring much about any of the characters at all. None of them really had any depth.

Lillyanna's backstory was somewhat interesting in the first book, but that's been forgotten now, and she's just Landon's love interest.

Landon himself is just... I don't care. He's Irish. He's alcoholic. Blah. Nothing he does or says is memorable.

Jamie is one of the characters I was somewhat interested in. He seemed to be more conflicted about his actions in the first book, but he's been rapidly becoming more violent and merciless. I initially had sympathy for him, but his recent actions have definitely pinned him as a villain for me, and I mean that in a good way. He's still one of those characters with the potential for redemption however, and his blood connection to Landon does add some tension to the story.

Overall though, I really wouldn't recommend this series. The writing is bad, most of the characters are forgettable and the majority of the dialogue feels stilted. I know I'm repeating myself here, but seriously - it's just really dull overall. I can't be bothered reading the final book.

This is the second part of Greg Hair's Werewolf trilogy. It too was only .99 for my Nook, and the proceeds went to the Center for Missing and Exploited Children (an organization that is close to the author's heart and semi related to the book)

I couldn't put it down! At first I was like "Another book about a vampire/werewolf/human war?" but I really enjoyed it. It's a creative take, and set in my hometown where many landmarks are referenced in the book. I loved where one of the major fight scenes took place.

It left quite a cliff hanger so I can't wait to read the third installment hopefully early next year!

Great series

I love the characters and the storyline. I was hooked from the start as werewolves and vampires working together. The first vampire and werewolf as been told a lot but I like this version.
