I find it difficult to review stories when I don’t really care for the main character and I spend most of my time kind of wishing the other love interest would dump him and find someone who treats him right. That’s how I felt with Adam. He refuses to perform oral sex, he refers to Jace as the “woman” in the relationship, in part because Jace does the cooking and cleaning at home, and during the heat of the argument refers to Jace as the “bitch” in the relationship. Holy smokes. I’m supposed to care about this guy?

I also couldn’t believe he went to his best friend to complain, a best friend who is Jace’s brother. I though the brother should likely have punched Adam for referring to his brother in such a demeaning way. I know the story is only told from Adam’s perspective but he really seemed to blame Jace for everything, that he was “high maintenance”, and I got the impression he believed he was somehow doing the guy a favour by being with him, although he loved him. The scene where Adam decides to practice oral on a popsicle was rather amusing, and even though he lowers himself to perform oral on Jace, I just didn’t see him actually doing it regularly. I could hear the refrains of “I already did it for you once, what do you want?” coming. If he thought Jace was the girl, or the bitch, in the relationship, I’m not sure one bout of oral sex is going to change his mind.

So while there is nothing wrong with the writing, I just felt that Jace should have left, if nothing else to teach Adam a lesson, because I couldn’t see much changing giving the core of Adam’s beliefs, even though he’s now done it once. Reviewing is very subjective and others may not feel the same way about Adam and will believe that he has seen the light and changed, so I think if the theme intrigues you, you should give it a whirl as it’s not badly written at all, it just didn’t work for me.
