"This new addition to Micklethwait's I Spy series challenges children to look closely at paintings and find things related to transportation....It's up to parents or teachers to extend the experience....The paintings here will intrigue children and reward a closer look."--Booklist.
I hope your library has at least some of these so you can explore them. As I've said in comments previously, they are inspirational. But I do prefer Micklethwait's bigger books, as the I Spy set is too simple for me. Good for tots, though.
I really don't know why some of these images were chosen, or whether children find them memorable or appealing, or whether using these books helps the kids appreciate art later (or do better in art history classes).
I do believe that playing I Spy this way is a good thing, at least in small doses. (Don't do as I am I doing, reading many from the series all in the same month). And the art is definitely a better choice than Where's Waldo style books.
