This is a story about a girl, named Mia. She grew up in suburb of medium sized city. There were cold winters, and hot sticky summers. Mia’s favorite seasons were spring and fall. She enjoyed the mild seasons, but also loved the vibrant colors each possessed.
Mia loved music. She didn’t just love it, she sat on the floor in front of her Casio stereo for hours at a time, recording songs off the radio. Then she would cue them up and make sure she only got the music as she recorded them on a second tape, without the DJ’s voices on them, just the music. Then she would listen to those songs absorbing the words as she sat in her room and wrote her poetry.

She wrote her first Poem when she was thirteen. It was called Sands of Time. When she was sixteen and again when she was eighteen she won two state competitions for her poetry. Her Poetry was stories of roses, starry nights, love, loss, and the scars left behind. She found recourse in those private moments filling notebooks of her writings. As she grew so did her inspirations, and when ever it hit her the rest of the world melted away until her verses were written, alive in the world.

Even today as Mia writes mostly YA fiction, poetry still holds a special place in her heart. Her love for all things words propels her forward in her pursuit of the next great story. Her Debut Novel The Ocean will be released this spring.

Warning: This book series is EPIC!

My Rating: 10 of 10

My Cover Thoughts: I love this cover! It reminds me of the Raven Mockers.

My Thoughts/Review: Ellie has a wonderful imagination. She dreams of her guardian angel that will one day come and rescue her. Then she wakes up to reality and realises he was only in her dreams. Ellie is your average teen going to school and trying to hold on to the one person she has left in her life, her brother. Her brother has applied for legal guardianship of her and has just heard the final decision from the courts that he can indeed be her legal guardian. They decide to rent an apartment in a shady part of town because that is all they can afford for now.

Her brother tells her to enjoy her junior year because next year she will be considered an adult. She laughs at him and tells him she will but first things first she needs to find a job. As she explores her new neighbourhood she finds a job at a book store. The job is perfect for her and she is excited because she can help her brother out.

After her first night out working on the way home she senses she is in danger and feels someone watching her. She is attacked and saved by a boy and his dog. She thanks him and invites him over for something to drink and he says okay. As the days go by she sees this guy and his dog more and more. They strike up a friendship and maybe something more but Ellie can’t get past her dream man. See she sees the man of her dreams every night but she can’t see him when she is up.

Ellie starts to wonder if something sinister is going on and how it is going to affect her and her brother. She will do everything in her power to protect him because he is all she has left. Ellie will have to make some hard decisions and she will learn that there is someone out there that wants her. She is not sure if this person wants to hurt her but she will need to trust her instincts.

Will she find someone she can trust? Will she ever wake up from her dreams of her guardian angel rescuing her or is she destined for a life of dreams?

Mia has once again captured my heart and soul with these characters and the struggles they face and the triumphs they will have. It is a story that will capture your mind, body and soul! Watch out J.K. Rowling her comes Mia Castile!

Memorable Quotes: EPILOGUE: I was running, and though it was dark, I knew where I was going. I was going to him. He was forbidden to me. He wasn’t mine, yet I couldn’t stay away from him. My hand glided along the stone wall. It was old and dusted onto my fingertips. I stayed close to it. The wind blew the soft fabric of my clothing around me. Ribbons held my hair in place in an up-do that I could never have fixed on my own. My slaves fixed me, knowing that I was breaking the rules—we were breaking the rules—they still remained faithful to me. We would be together. I opened the large, thick, heavy temple door that creaked around the hinges. I breathed heavily as I walked to the altar. The priest stood behind it, reading from his great book. “I’m here, I’m here,” I said in a hushed exclamation. “So am I.” There he was. He reached for my hand and pulled me close to him. We embraced. I clung to him as he to me. “Are you sure this is your desire? It’s never been done before; you’ll go against all that is right,” the priest asked in a low whisper. But he couldn’t change our minds, no more than we could. I loved this man, and he loved me. “Yes,” my love answered. “Then so be it.” I woke up in my dark bedroom, my hands clinging to something, but I didn’t know what. There was nothing in my arms. I wanted—I needed to see him; I could see him in my mind. It was just a dream; but it felt real, like a real life—like it was alive. But he wasn’t tangible; he wasn’t real. He was my angel and my protector of all the imaginary places and times I dreamed of, but he wasn’t real.

Advice: This is a must read series! You will not be disappointed!

Generations Review on K-Books

When I first heard Mia was writing a paranormal series I instantly couldn't wait to read it. I read her short story The Ocean months ago for the blog tour of it and loved it. I fell in love with her writing and her characters so I couldn't wait to get my hands on her next piece of work. I have to say I never thought I would like this book more than The Ocean because I loved The Ocean so much and didn't think anything else could compare. I was so wrong. I think this is definitely better and I am super excited to see where this series goes from here.

Ellie has always just had her brother Gideon. After their parents died all they have is each other. The had to learn to survive just with each other. But then they are thrust into a world of magic that they didn't know existed. They are part of the Generations. A angel-like species who are mortal but have powers from the heavens and the gift of free-will. They must band together to defeat the evil Noctem, the creations of Lucifer. What Ellie doesn't expect is to meet her 'dream guy' the guy she has been dreaming about since before she could remember and thought was fictional. But he isn't. He is part of her Generations and she finds herself torn between 2 brother, both who love her and would do anything without her. Will she be able to fix her love life that before now has been non-existant as well as fight the evil Noctem who seem to have a special interest in her?

I absolutely adored this book. It was incredible and I love the world Mia has created. I love the idea of good vs evil mixed with Angels. It's very different from other Angel books I have read. They are not actually angels but a species similar and I think it's a very new and unique idea which I loved.
I love all the characters in this book. Ellie and Gideon are amazing. They have this unique bond, not only are they brother and sister but they are best friends and would do absolutely anything for the other. I absolutely love Ellie, she is such a great character, she is so strong and no matter what happens to her she won't back down. When she's faced with evil, even when she's afraid she won't show it. She is such a strong character and I love that.
I love Zeke, Zeke is such a great character and he is definitely the guy that every girl will fall in love with. He's sweet, loving and overprotective and will do anything to save the ones he loves. Contrast that with his younger brother Ben, the impulsive one who just wants to lay back and have fun but is forced to act older because of the responsibilities of the Generations. Both guys are great characters and I loved both of them.

This book had just the right balance between action/storyline and romance so it is definitely the perfect book for me. I loved every moment of it and the ending left me shocked and reeling for more. I think I have a love-hate relationship with this ending. I do like cliffhanger endings because they keep me hooked and make me desperate for more and this ending definitely did that. But to me it was such a big shock that I need to find out what happens next like right now! Even though Mia has told me she definitely wasn't trying to torture readers with the ending I think deep down she really was as that's what the ending was to me. It will be torture waiting to see what happens next.

It's such an amazing start to what's going to be an amazing series and I am so excited to read the next instalment. This will definitely be a re-read for me and I will be reading it again before the next instalment of this series.

Mia Castel’s concept for the Generation series is unique and inspirational. She has broken out of the paranormal usuals by taking away the focus from the vampires and werewolves and she created The Generations.
Mia did a great job building a foundation for the upcoming two books in the series. In this book we learn mostly about the characters, their backstory, and we experience a hint of upcoming danger.
The main character’s –Ellie– main focus is building a stable home for her family of two — Ellie and her brother. After moving out of their foster home, they are growing up too fast, taking on responsibilities and bills.
Ellie finds herself struggling to understand powers she didn’t know she had while being tugged between her love for two brothers. One being the boy from her dreams, literally!
This is a story about family and survival. It’s a story of new beginnings, one where trust is important. This is a story about two orphans who want to find their true home.

Mia Castile’s story is the start of a whole new paradigm in the worlds of fantasy and paranormal.
‘Generations’ is an exciting new concept to me, angel-like creatures that are human, yet have heavenly powers. Being human, they have free will, and are apt to make mistakes like the rest of us.
They band together every generation to try to defeat the Noctem, while at the same time trying to avoid being swayed to the dark side themselves.
I am a big admirer of Mia Castile’s work, but I am an even bigger admirer of creating something beyond the norm. In this world of info overload, coming up with a radically new concept is hard! Finding a book that will make you say ‘wow’ as you read it is even harder.
I highly recommend this book for anyone that likes YA Paranormal or Fantasy. For that matter…I would recommend this book to anyone!

Excuse me while I curl up in a ball and cry while waiting for the release of Generations Book 2! Mia Castile just gets better and better with every book. I have read all her books, the ones that are published and released that is. She continually leaves me in shock at the end of her novels. This is the same for Generations: Book of Enlightenment. I loved this story! When I first saw the cover all I kept thinking was "Oh great another wolf/ shape shifter now". Oh how wrong I was! It has a love story, which isn't even the main part of the novel. The back story on this novel is amazing and very unique. Now go buy all of Mia Castile's novels!!
