This book moved kind of slow in some parts, but overall it was great because of the surprising twists! Can’t wait to read the next one. I’ll probably start this weekend!
I will admit, I haven't kept up with this series, but with this book, I plan to go back and read what I've been missing. By now, Venus, is the mother of a little girl that she fought her ex Airic and his "appearances" wife tv evangelist Trevelle about in court. In this book,a whole new can of worms open up. First, Venus' hubby company may be in danger when his partner comes bringing havoc and trouble to their door. Then, Venus gets the job of her life when does the floral arrangements for the daughter of the judge who ruled in Venus custody case(who coincidentally is the biological daughter of Trevelle and she thought she left for dead at birth)who is marrying a man who looks good all around, unless you digged a bit deeper. With time, all of this forms up in a nice knot that you won't want to miss.
I think this one might be my favorite so far in the series! It had me excited about what was coming next with every chapter, and I love that. The whole book I was trying to guess who was doing the monologue and I was always bouncing back and forth. I loved the twists and turns in the plots, and I think a lot of the relationship issues are ones that happen quite often and were so easy to relate to.
Not my favorite book in this series. There was just too much going on. The ending felt rushed as well. Jake really irritated me in this follow up. He was so nonchalant when Venus kept telling him he should watch his back when it comes to Legend. It was clear that he was jealous! Just glad that the kidnappers let Venus go but is Trevelle still in danger? Can Vince save her if so? Will Velle and Delma make amends now since they both had a bond at the end?

Okay, so this series is one of my favorites. I can't get enough of Venus, Jake, Mya, Tavelle and of course Arric.
All the drama that each individual goes through makes for an awesome story line.
I'm glad Venus is back in the work force being the entrepreneur that she is, opens a flower shop called In Bloom.
How fitting, because she has definitely come a long way from Nappily Faithful. It does my heart ❤ good to see her thriving in Hot-🔥 lanta.
So a change of pace, can do the body good.
That is until Jake 's partner Legend shows up.
Him and Venus are like oil 🛢 & water 💧. They don't mix, and this is evident after a few days.
Of course he has brought some drama there. JP Wear, which he is supposed to be running in Los Angeles has hit a snag. Or so, he's claiming.
Then there is Arric wanting to have his visitation with his daughter, Mya. Travelle realizing a day late & a dollar short, that she should have let sleeping 💤 dogs lay.
Hind sight is 20/20, though.
Why is Ronny still trying to find the money Brian (Jake 's ex finance man) Steeple stole & hid & who was latered murdered, still wrecking havoc in other people's lives.
If that got your attention, then by ALL means pick up the Nappily series. You won't be disappointed.
I've enjoyed all the Nappily Series so far.
With that being said, on to the next one. Unhappily in Love.
Can't wait to dig into this one. I'm almost done with the series. 3 more to go...
There was a lot going on but it all came together nicely. At this point, the series really isn’t about hair. There was a scene or two about it, but it seemed like an afterthought. This book has quite a few new characters and is told from the first person view of a couple. It’s not too confusing and the stories complement each other. I’m ready to move on from Venus and her family. She’s extremely worrisome and all over the place. She treats everything, right or wrong, like a conspiracy. I felt bad for Jake and how things turned out with Legend. Sometimes, it’s your own people. The whole Delma and Trevelle situation is something else and it’s a shame they can’t have their own book. Their story is worthy of a series by itself. Finally, what happened with Airic? He’s a big part of several plots but he sort of faded away.
i made the mistake of not checking this book on goodreads and not knowing that this was part of a series. but i think that even if i had read the first few books, i still would give this two stars. this is pretty much just smut, with how many inappropriate scenes there were. it took forever for something to happen and when it finally did, the conclusion was very rushed. also, this book struck me as misogynistic as hell. i hated how the women in this story were basically portrayed as stupid s*x machines, while the men were powerful and witty. the author seems to love when characters cheat on each other, too. anyways, that’s just my take. you might like the story, i personally didn’t.
It had a decent storyline but poorly written. Some of the happenings were unrealistic. The dilemmas could’ve been explored in detail. She ended the dilemma with a new chapter about another problem. It was hard to determine which POV was in each chapter—in the beginning she named the character at each chapter. I counted at least 5-6 typos. There were 2 chapters that has different font from the rest of the book—was this on purpose—and they seemed out of order/didn’t belong.
Meh.... there were so many characters from so many different POV it was like “wait...what?” It was interesting to see how their stories intertwined but it was annoying trying to keep up. Also felt the end was rushed
I really enjoyed how this whole story played out! Some twists and turns but managed to all tie together. Looking forward to continue seeing Jake and Venus’s story unfold!
I loved this book it had so many turns and had me on the edge of my seat. It was different stories between different characters but somehow all connected at the end. I loved it
"I really didn't like this book.[return][return]I couldn't identify with any of the characters, had no sympathy for any of them (except a minor one - Keisha), and had no idea why they made the choices they did. So many of those choices were bad ones, meaning that bad things happened as a result. One of the characters even wonders why it seems that every time happiness is within his grasp, it disappears, but it doesn't occur to him that his awful choices have any bearing on his life. Everyone's setting themselves up for disaster at every turn. The ""solution"" to many problems seemed to be sex. Even the ""nice"" or ""good"" characters were manipulative of the people they professed to love.[return][return]Plot elements are introduced and then left hanging. For example, a couple has a lawyer on retainer in case anyone accuses them of tampering with a DNA test, but it doesn't occur to them to actually CALL their lawyer when they want to modify their custody agreement. One thing leads to another, and one of the main characters then decides she can't do anything when her daughter is kidnapped by her biological father. It seemed that ""there's nothing I can do"" was a common explanation when the plot required it.[return][return]The writing style bothered me. I couldn't figure out what was going on for the first third of the book - it seemed as though the main character had split personalities and was living a double-life. Then I realised that the book was written in the first-person, but from TWO perspectives! There was no way to figure out whose head you were in until a name was spoken, or some plot point was mentioned. The book starts going into third-person narrative at about the 1/3 mark, and then it switches between first-person (still in two character's heads) and third person, used inconsistently, and even switching between perspectives during one scene. There were many plot inconsistencies. There were really short, bullet-point style sentences in some parts. I really hope these things will be corrected in the final version.[return][return]The book was left wide open for another in the series, but I was so unimpressed with this one that there's no chance I'll be reading any more."
I've had mixed emotions about Venus. She's the protagonist in the Nappily... Series. She was actually likeable in this book. BUT, I don't know if it's me? The characters seem to have an awful lot of drama in their lives. extortion, shady friends, kidnapping, baby daddies, on and on. Plus, it use to be that we got Venus's point of view. Maybe one other person. In the first book she was reeling from being jilted by her boyfriend of four years. We heard from the woman he dated (and married) after her. Than it was Venus and Jake (her now husband) Now it's Venus, and a cast of other peoples minds we are getting to see into. It was a little much. I enjoyed this one more than the three others that preceded it. Venus and Jake still live in Georgia. She's put away corporate background to open for a flower shop. Her and Jake seem on solid ground (although Jake seems to always be on the verge of cheating. Even though he seems to really love Venus). Her daughters father Airic appeared in the last book after seemingly wanting nothing to do with her. I think there were too many other people, and plots in this book. But, it was still really enjoyable.
The story was only ok. The copy I read was an ARC so some things might have changed for the real release.
The book takes several different first person points of view, which were not clearly articulated at the start of chapters, thought that might change in the non-arc version ( i would hope!). In one place the point of view changed in the middle of a chapter. Even if these switches were clearly marked I don't think this would be an effective technique for this story.
The possible suspenseful part, where the main character was kidnapped, was not drawn out long enough to build any real suspense.
I think someone who had read the other books in the series might have a better time with this book, since they will know the characters and be able to follow how everyone is related to everyone else more easily. There might have even been too many characters. The book likely could have dropped the wedding story all together and focused on the turmoil between Venus and her ex-husband and his wife.
I won this in a book give-away. Being an uncorrected advance copy is extremely annoying, as there are errors everywhere. Add to that, I don't like jumping into the middle of a series of books; all through reading this, I've felt like I'm missing something not having read the previous books about these characters. I almost gave up before I was half-way through, but as much as I don't like picking up a series in the middle, I hate abandoning a book more. I should have just skipped ahead and read the last four pages to find out what happened and saved some time.
