Perfect gift from my mom for our trip to Germany. I read about half of the book, only the parts relevant to our trip. I love these travel books because you can’t google anything without getting a ton of ads or links that try to redirect you to buying city tours. This book gave straightforward advice on the best sites and where to eat. Just what the doctor ordered!

Having travelled extensively about Germany in the late '70's and early '80's, I wanted to get a look at what a travel guide regarding this country looked like today. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much more eclectic it has become in 30 years!

Covering everything from beer houses to wine country, and romance to fairy-tale, this guide is unique and thorough! It covers the best markets, restaurants, places to stay, and of course, the best and must places to see! From the small child to the elderly, Fodor's Germany offers a plethora of travel excitement that will lend you a lifetime of memories to cherish!

I give Fodor's Germany Five Stars and my Thumbs Up!

Great indepth guide on the country of Germany.

Pros:
- Lots of details about the major cities
- Tons of recommendations

Cons:
- Wish the book was a bit more easy to navigate, there was too many chapters and hard to find different cities/towns.

I just adore this Germany guide. It's so well organized and not just by city and/or region, but by interest. Want to celebrate Oktoberfest... they've got you covered. Fairly land type castles... there's a plan for you too.

Like most Fodor guides there is information on regions and specific cities: places to dine and things to see. What I love is that they have suggestions --like those listed above-- for when you don't know what's out there and what you might want to do.

If you are traveling on business this is a great guide too. The Fodor authors will give you info on a region. Let's say that you are going to be in the Baden-Baden. The section on the Black Forest will tell you whats in the area. The scenery like the Triberg falls, cathedrals, and hot water spas. Restaurants and museums, of course, are covered as well.

What I personally like is the short section which offers 'orientation'. I'm a person without a sense of direction so this helps me. Of more use though is their "WHEN TO GO" advice. If your on business you don't have that choice, but the info on air/train/bus/car travel will no doubt be vital reading.

HINT: If you travel light one way to save some ounces is to rip this book apart and take only the pertinent pages for the zone your visiting.

SUMMARY
One of the best Fodor books. I can't wait to go back to Germany. This guide will make entertaining the our whole family easy.

I chose to pack Fodor's Germanybecause this guide had information about places not mentioned in Rick Steves' Germany 2013. My husband and I were on Trafalgar Tour's Cost Saver, Highlights of Germany for two weeks plus we visited Speyer on our own.

I used this book every day of our trip.

I like the color pages, but find Rick Steve's guides more helpful.

Good coverage to give background and insight into even smaller towns we traveled through in Germany. Nice book to have along on our travels.
