Threesome: A Trio of Sinfully Decadent Erotic Stories

Rate this book
Because three is so much better than one...New York Times best selling author Tawny Taylor presents Threesome, a trio of sinfully decadent stories that are sure to make you hunger for more. This anthology contains: Triple Stud, Conquered, and Enslaved by Sin. A total of over 25,000 words. If purchased separately, these books would cost $7.99.

TRIPLE STUD

Jan Thompson has finally scored an invitation to a very special Game Night at the home of notorious bachelor Hayden Ross. She's swapped her buttoned-up secretarial style for fetish wear, and her plain-Jane name for a saucy new identity, and is ready for a night of hot bone-melting playtime with not one, not two, but three men.

Tonight's game is Triple Stud.

But sweet, shy little Jan has no idea what kind of game she's in for. These guys play dirty...

CONQUERED

Once a year, for one magical night, they come. They take. They dominate. And then they return to their world behind the glass. Warriors from another dimension, seeking relief from their carnal hunger. But when the time is right, they must help their hostess accept her true mate, the one man who will make her whole.

Skylar Morissey is perfectly content to have her once-a-year carnal visit from her dominant warriors. She can have twenty-four glorious hours with not one but two gorgeous hunks. She has her reasons for not getting into anything too complicated, very compelling ones. Until her very real neighbor, Trace Blackshaw, makes an unexpected appearance, and a few demands of his own.

Trace may not be a warrior from another world, but he knows exactly how to conquer his goddess.

ENSLAVED BY SIN

Over two hundred years ago, the Master of Sin welcomed guests to Castle Greh, inviting them to taste decadent carnal pleasures every night. Now, some claimed the castle was haunted by the dark prince and his many lovers.

She was about to learn the truth...

About the castle.
About the Master.
And about her darkest desires.

Nothing exciting happens in Tawny Taylor's life, unless you count giving the cat a flea dip--a cat can make some fascinating sounds when immersed chin-deep in insecticide--or chasing after a houseful of upchucking kids during flu season. She doesn't travel the world or employ a staff of personal servants. She's not even built like a runway model. She's just your run-of-the-mill, pleasantly plump Detroit suburban mom and wife.

Because someone seriously needs to cut me off from the free kindle books. Note to self: just because it's free, doesn't mean you have to get it. Doubly so if it appears to be romance. Odds are not good for a good book there.

Positive points: the chick (Jan, I think) in the first story (Triple Stud?) is pretty sexually liberated--willing to go out, get what she wants, and take it (even if she's nervous at first). The BDSM scene in the third story did not fall into male = master and female = submissive territory (and I am disgusted that this is such a prevalent Thing). Half a point off for it being female topping female, but still acceptable. Because I am twisted, I sort of loved the issues of the chick (Skylar?) in the second story, and how she and her lover (or was he Skylar? no, apparently he's Trace) negotiated that.

Negatives: the whole "destined lover" nonsense (okay, apparently he's "[h]er true mate", which is somehow even worse) in the second story, the whole "I was putting on this nice guy act but I should've known better and known that I had to be a bad boy and dominate the hell out of you" ("'Stupid me.' He fisted her upper arms and yanked her closer. 'I thought the nice guy act would be the way to reach you. I should've known you'd need it this way, with me being my [Ed. creepy] self.") instead thing. First story was mediocre (but better than bad I suppose). And just not feeling the "wickedness" of the BDSM of the third story. (Not to mention, again, two out of three female leads being submissives, *sigh*) That Destined Lover Dude is a freaking creeper ("If he wasn't so adorable, she'd have called the police months ago, when he'd first pulled this stunt [inviting himself into her house and refusing to leave]." Direct quote from the book. Warning bells should be going off in your head right now. Any man who refuses to take no for an answer/refuses to respect someone's boundaries is not to be trusted.)

Okay, and I'm disappointed that we never got to see the warriors fuck each other. So sue me.

I can't deal with how all male love interests in romance novels have to be creepers. I can't. I am officially Done. With all of them. Done with a capital d.

I may have plucked this off the Amazon cybershelves because it was free. It probably didn't do free ebooks much credit. The first story was not too bad, relatively atmospheric and entertaining enough, and would have made a good warm-up if things had progressed. But the other two stories were fairly lousy, and I could only really skip through that last one.

The writing is light and readable, but the content frustratingly light on characterization and believability, with the overall feeling that the writer is trying to create mystery by keeping details or explanations from us, only it ends up seeming as though she simply didn't really think any of it through. Then add in all the cheesey BDSM-lite cliche and I just found myself saying: "Seriously?" a lot as I read.

This is another book with silly names, something which irritates me more than a little. It's not quite as bad as the Black Dagger Brotherhood vampires, but in "Threesome" far too many of the character names sound like knock-off medication for depression. Names are so important for engaging with characters, particularly in erotica, I guess it's a personal bug-bear!

And there are moments here when these stories really shoot themselves in the foot - from unintentionally funny lines like "his balls weighed so much it hurt to move" to self-deprecating blows like: "hell, it sounded like the plot of a really bad porn flick". And that latter sentiment really summed it all up for me, demeaning the whole process for reader and writer alike.

These three stories were the perfect length for what was advertised--not too short, not so long that the action lagged. The editing here was great--so many e-books are rife with typos, but not this one! A pleasant surprise, and allowed me to stay immersed in the moment. Tawny Taylor explores erotic and "taboo" scenarios without being cheesy, and develops characters with depth and flaws--characters that I thought of and missed after the book was finished. Her voice is a refreshing raft in a sea of "sex books" and I would recommend Threesome to anyone looking to have their faith in the genre restored :)

Already had Triple Stud, so was disappointed I paid for it again. It was the best of the 3 stories, too.

Unfortunately I can't give this book a rating. Despite having read it only recently, I can't remember the first thing about it... That would pretty much guarantee a 3-star or below rating.

Nnone of the stories were very exciting. I think I just have developed a dislike for short stories in general though.

While this was a pleasant read, nothing in this stood out as spectacular. I liked it but I don't know if I'd go seeking out more by this author.
