This popular series by Fr Thomas Hopko on the Orthodox Faith is intended to provide basic, comprehensive information on the faith and life of the Orthodox Church for the average reader. It consists of four handbooks.
Volume IV on SPIRITUALITY deals with the main themes of Christian Life: prayer, fasting, repentance, the virtues, witness in the world and communion with God.
Thomas Hopko is an Orthodox Christian priest and theologian. He was the Dean of Saint Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary from September 1992 until July 1, 2002 and taught dogmatic theology there from 1968 until 2002. Now retired, he carries the honorary title of Dean Emeritus. Father Hopko is a prominent Orthodox Christian lecturer and speaker, well-known both in Orthodox and ecumenical circles. He has several podcasts on the internet radio station for Orthodox Christians called Ancient Faith Radio
I just finished "The Orthodox Faith: Volume 4; Spirituality," by Thomas Hopko.
(If you can stomach reading electronic The Orthodox Church of America has made this quite easy reading set avaliable for free: https://www.oca.org/orthodoxy/the-ort... )
This seems to be great insight into the more practical part of the EO church. It deals with all aspects of one's walk in life or piety. I found it interesting and it finished with a bang.
The most honest and personal book out of The Orthodox Faith series by Thomas Hopko. Not all Christian knowledge is simply theology, worship or history; to be true Christians we must be Christ-like, live by his teachings and act and behave as he does. Father Hopko writes well about all virtues of a true Christian life. Probably my favourite out of the series, an easy and inspiring read and a great finish to a great series. God bless.
This book provides the foundation information of the Orthodox faith. This book is read to understand Orthodox Christianity and is a handbook read during classes to join the faith .
