The sixth of seven brand new 39 Clues stories, leading up to one explosive reveal.
Dan Cahill loves hanging out with his new friend, Atticus Rosenbloom, a child prodigy whose genius IQ doesn't stop him from playing video games or practicing ninja moves. It's a relief to get to pretend to be a normal kid for once, and not worry about finding Clues or looking out for Vespers. But when Atticus's house is attacked by strange intruders, Dan has to rely on his Cahill training to keep them out. Are they normal burglars? Or does Atticus's family have a secret of its own?
I like these childish moments between Dan and Atticus. After all they're just children and shouldn't have to worry about certain things. That last scene with the burglars gave me a strong Home Alone feeling and now I miss Christmas.
2020: I didn't expect one of these Rapid Fire stories to cause such a big emotional reaction from me, but here I am, crying, and it seems like Atticus is going to be a third favourite character, or maybe Jake. I don't know. But I do know I want to read more from them!
It was nice to have this follow the Rosenboom boys. They’re such a big part of the second series. And this was before all the chaos of learning about the hunt
- Atticus’s life summarized - A man is planning to break in and steal Astrid’s files. Why?? - Jake doesn’t like dan - Dan goes to hang out with atticus and has a muscle spasm attack?? - Want to prank amy but can’t because cell signal isn’t working. Even on VERY strong signal phone from mcintyre - Burglars start breaking in. Dan knows they can take them - Jake can’t get ahold of atticus OR dan - Dan broke a window to call the police - Atticus took precautions to lure the burglar to a specific part of the house but the moonlight shone through so he could see Atticus - Fight the burglars in a home alone meets hunger games sort of way - Jake shows up at the end

This felt a bit too much like Home alone - but I liked the friendship between Atticus and Dan and I loved that this book focused a bit more on the Guardians and the danger they are in. I also liked how action packed this short story was but I just wish that it was a bit longer because Guardians come from seemingly nowhere and they are not explored enough - they seem like they were tacked on to drag the story along through the next 100000 books they produced.
Woaha, Dan's on fire. And this was very Home Alone. I would've liked to have more of a resolution, but it was an action packed little novella. 3 stars.
Dan has developed a close friendship with Atticus Rosenbloom. Dan is spending the evening with Atticus, while Atticus's older brother Jake is at a track meet and his parents have gone to New York to see medical specialists. But soon the boys realize the house is under attack and in a style similar to the Home Alone Movies, they prepare to defend it. Dan, because of his recent training, has some ideas and the battle begins.
This story was interesting in that it shows us a serious side of Dan that we often do not get to see. Maybe always being next to his sister, he often seems to play the goof or fool in contrast to her stoic nature. But alone we see in him what Grace saw in him before the Hunt begin. We also learn that the Vespers are working on an accelerated time line and have to wonder if they caused Dr. Rosenbloom's mysterious illness.
I love the original 39 Clues books, and have on my short list to read the second series The Cahills vs. Vespers, but this short series released between December 25th and December 31st 2011 really caught my attention. 7 Days 7 Short Stories each give us part of a clue and more background information on some of the characters from the books. The short stories are more than worth the price of $0.99 each.

Dan's and Atticus' POV! A year after the clue hunt and the Vesper's are still there! I love Atticus, he's so cute! This book is so interesting and very fast-paced! I love the humor and the plot! I love 39 Clues!
I was devastated when I read that the Rapid Fire books would be ebooks because I didn't have an ereader at the time. The first thing I did when I bought my Kindle was buy these books too. I love them!
Like the others in the Rapid Fire series, this was so good. I read this book nonstop like I did the others. I really enjoyed reading it and I cannot wait to read the last book in this series.
