The last of seven brand new 39 Clues stories, with an explosive secret revealed!
The holidays can be hard for any family, but they're particularly tough for the Cahills. Amy Cahill is exhausted from her training. Dan can't forget the tragedies he witnessed on the Clue hunt. Ian and Natalie Kabra are trying to enjoy the London festivities, but it's hard without their parents. Even superstar Jonah Wizard is having trouble getting into the holiday spirit. Amy knows there's danger on the horizon, but there's no reason they shouldn't enjoy themselves while they can. Taking advantage of their new fortune, Amy and Dan book a private plane and jet off to fetch the other Cahills for a New Years none of them will ever forget.
Fireworks. Clifford Riley really chose a great title for a really great short story.
Plot Summary:
The story revolves around Amy, fifteen months after the Clue Hunt. She was on her mansion in Attleboro and was preparing for the next Vesper attack.
After Dan's car accident, she called for a family meeting. Ian and Natalie are in London, Hamilton on Switzerland, Jonah in New York preparing for his World Tour and Sinead was with her. Amy, being the leader of the most powerful family in the world assigned different jobs to her Cahill relatives and everything didn't go well.
Everyone signed out and Sinead even banged the door on her way out. It didn't turn out well as Amy planned. And New Year's Eve is tomorrow... Amy finally thought of a way to make her and her fellow relatives happy and was rushed about it.
Jonah was currently on his rehearsal preparing for his World Tour. He had been rehearsing for many days already and he could barely eat and rest. And then, through the megaphone the director suddenly said, "Do the Chicken Dance."
Jonah couldn't believe that his director will make him do it but he obeyed and started doing the chicken dance. Everyone started laughing and the lights started to dim. He was surprised to see Amy and Dan laughing so hard. He asked what they were doing there and where was his director but Amy said that he went out to get his breakfast and he'll go with them.
Jonah hesitated since his World Tour will start soon but Amy finally convinced him using the Chicken Dance tape as a blackmail.
Ian and Natalie were on their way to the London Tower. Their mother, Isabel Kabra always bring them to that tower during holidays. It doesn't mean that she had disowned them they're not going to continue the old Lucian tradition.
When they were inside, the light suddenly turned off and they were plunged into darkness. Natalie started shaking, obviously scared and a voice suddenly spoke that they should be silent once the lights will turn on.
When the lights were on they saw Amy and Dan. Natalie asked, "What are you doing here?" And then Dan said, "To kidnap you."
Hamilton with the Holt family were ice climbing. They planned on breaking the record. But then when they were near on the top they saw some people were already there.
He got confused for he and his family didn't encounter other ice climbers. Just when he reached the top did he saw that it was Amy, Dan and Jonah with Ian and Natalie in the helicopter.
Amy talked to Eisenhower to borrow Ham for awhile and will be returned the next morning because they have an urgent agenda. Eisenhower agreed and Ham joined the group.
The Eiffel tower loomed below them as they went down the helicopter. Amy then prayed that her plan will work out for it is easier to plan an agenda other than a party.
She then opened her arms and faced her cousins who were confused. "Tonight's agenda is something of the utmost importance," she began. "More important than anything we've talked about before. So important, in fact, that it's the only thing on the agenda. Tonight's objective: HAVE FUN. Let the games begin!" Instantly heat lamps were perched overhead and waiters emerged carrying trays of appetizer and sparkling cider. Everyone started to have fun.
Amy motioned for Natalie to follow her and gave everyone their suits. A tux for Ian, black-and-white tracksuit for Ham, T-shirt that looks like a tux for Dan, leather suit for Jonah and ball gowns for the girls.
The girls went to the bathroom and change. Amy went out wearing a red velvet gown that made Natalie's expression morphed with shock.
After that, they went back outside and everyone else were already neatly changed. And when Ian saw Amy he stopped mid-sentence, his jaw slightly open! ((AMIAN alert! Amian alert!)) Gah! Amian deserves more romantic moment! Not just in two sentences!
Jonah was on the deejay booth, enjoying his self with music and feeling free for once without the cameras on him.
Ham was on the Wii, busy playing bowling and Dan was back on his self.
Over all, Amy's plan worked out and everyone joined their time. They even have New Year resolutions. And they all watched the sun rise above the Eiffel tower.
While the Cahills were busy having fun, midnight struck on the Rosenbloom house back in Boston. They were all sad and the house draped with cloaks of darkness. Ten year old Atticus couldn't sleep for he was having nightmares. Nobody said a word.
In the shadows, a figure slid off the house and was revealed to be the killer of Astrid Rosenbloom. His next target was Atticus, the last guardian alive. It was Vesper One. And his resolution? World Domination.
Conclusion:
I truly enjoyed this short story and is a really great grand finale for the Rapid Fire series and is perfect for New Year. Clifford Riley did great not only to this short story but to the others as well. A great author indeed.

I believe this book shows, better than the Cahills vs Vespers series, just how much all of the Cahill children had to deal with after the end of the Clue Hunt. It's easier to remember with Dan, Natalie and Holt twins just how young they are. But their older siblings are not much older. They're all still very much children, with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Jake and Atticus will soon find out just how much they lost and why. I hope they all have some happy times before that has to happen.
Nossa, ver esses acontecimentos assim depois de tudo que aconteceu dá uma quentinho tão bom no coração. A Amy fez absolutamente tudo e foi bom demais ver eles todos tão felizinhos
This one felt so nice- it's a great ending for this mini series. Amy wants to be a good leader and wants to make sure the members of her family are prepared against Vespers but throughout this book she realizes she needs to lighten up and also make sure that they are relaxing and having fun so she organises a new year's eve celebration for all the kids - and it's a nice and warm cute family orianted short story. It's pretty nice compared to all the fast paced action packed books in this series.
It started off sad (and man do I feel sorry for Amy and Dan who are both crazy overwhelmed and terrified) then it got upbeat and happy with lots of family feel good moments (I particularly loved Jonah's ) and then What a sucky way for it to end. 3 stars.
This was a sweet ending to this little series, however, I do think it was the weakest of them all. The only parts that made it seem like it was a 39 clues book was the very last page and Amy delegating tasks
It’s funny how even in this short novella, there is still time to make a comment at the unspoken love between Amy and Ian. Even though they’re cousins. What the heck.
- Amy can’t believe what her life has become - Boxing training - Dan is learning to drive - Crashes into a tree - Amy starts everyone on training activities. No one is haply about it but also doesn’t know any better plan - Natalie is sad that they’re alone - Amy and dan are “getting the band back together” - Go to paris for the night - The man watching the roosenblooms put a poison in astrid’s book

This final book in the Rapid Fire mini series begins with Dan messing up big time. Next, Amy is trying to get the family to agree to a training schedule and roles and responsibilities. Finally something unexpected - Dan and Amy pull it together and work as a team to pull off a surprise for New Year's Eve. But the book ends with a sinister warning. So beware.
I love the original 39 Clues books, and have on my short list to read the second series The Cahills vs. Vespers, but this short series released between December 25th and December 31st 2011 really caught my attention. 7 Days 7 Short Stories each give us part of a clue and more background information on some of the characters from the books. The short stories are more than worth the price of $0.99 each.
Read the review and with links to other reviews of books in the 39 Clues series on my blog Book Reviews and More.
The reason I didn't liked this book too much is that it starts discussing only on one particular issue. Anyways, Amy returns home after suffering deep exhaustion from her previous journey, while Ian and Natalie celebrate a religious festival in England. Without their parents, it was hard for them to held such a special event; at the same time, Dan kept thinking about the tragedies in the past. At the end of the book, Amy and Dan attain fortune, and bought a jet plane to visit the other cahills. Again, I disliked this book not only for what I said earlier, but also the transition from the beginning to the end was mostly abstruse.
I enjoyed this a great deal. You get to see more of the bonding between the younger Cahill generation. Finally they start getting along. However, not everything is calm, because it never is with the Vespers around. My confusion is that the preview advertised a big surprise, but I wasn't really surprised by anything in this book. I enjoyed these seven books a great deal and would strongly recommend them to anyone who has read the 39 Clues series.
2020: The last little bit was depressing, and a tad disjointed, though I can see why it's important. But the rest of the story was about letting loose and having fun, and bonding within the Cahill family. I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't five stars like I thought last time around.
Small, simple things count like having clean fun with your family especially when your lives have been one danger to another continuously and one of the most evil person in the world is planning to end your lives...
Loved this book, the Cahill kids were just simply kids (even only for a few hours) enjoying the company of their cousins and friends.
All work no play and no one to support in what she was doing just because they don`t know what dangerous secret she was hiding from them to keep them safe and happy at the moment... i really pitied Amy and i wished the Cahill`s were nicer to her... but at the end i`m glad she knew how to loosened up and have fun with them at New Year`s Eve
I was hoping for a larger secret at the end of this mini series but I had already pieced that development together. This series was fun, but not necessary. I would still recommend this to series followers.
I was devastated when I read that the Rapid Fire books would be ebooks because I didn't have an ereader at the time. The first thing I did when I bought my Kindle was buy these books too. I love them!
No great revelations in this series, but you get a look inside the head of each major character and get more background on the beginnings of the Clue Hunt.
Not a bad story, considering it's not even from one of the actual authors of the series. But I liked the New Years party gone wrong, it was a fun read.
