Brief overview of graphic design. Chapters on what graphic design is about, typography, color, grids, image selection (layout) and promotional materials. This book includes fitting photographs that exemplify what the author is trying to explain. The first part of the book was better than the second half. The second half focuses on online aspects of designs (websites, blogs, e-zines...), most of the information is already outdated. Good introduction, but not enough for a thorough understanding.
This book has a ton of good information about graphic design, but feels a bit more advanced than an "idiot's guide. ... "
Also, I would think a book about graphic design would have a much better looking cover than this. This is probably the worst looking cover I have seen for a book about graphic design.
Was expecting something that delved more into the technology involved with graphic design. I wanted to know more about specific software and how to use it. Ths book is not that useful.
An excellent overview and introduction to the whole concept of graphic design. Exactly what I was looking for. it was well organized and easy to read and understand.
