Excellent memoirs

A fantastic insight into the bravery and intelligence of Thomas Clarke, the first signatory of the Proclamation of Independence posted on the GPO in Dublin during the uprising for Irish freedom in 1916. Despite the best efforts of the British state to try and break him with their barbaric penal system he never loses the convictions or spirit that kept him fighting for Irish independence until the same state finally murdered him .
He tells his story without any hint of bitterness or self pity. A must read for anyone interested in Irish history or the movement for Irish freedom.
He truly was a bold Fenian man and his courage and tenacity is still an inspiration to anyone fighting oppression today.
