For a layperson like myself this commentary offers a perfect balance of explication/insight and application. If I could own only one Bible commentary it would be this one.
Wow! An incredible tool! A must have for serious students. Wiersbe has a fantastic reputaion as a pastor. Hunt down some of his sermons. This book as well as the OT version is powerful, insightful, and not some flake-job bunch of air-head opinions. Clear, very well organized and laid out on each page, and across the board a good investment.
For devotional, initial sermon prep, application, ideas, Wiersbe is a must. He can summarize without trivializing or ignoring the text of Scripture. I end up saying, "how does ge do it?"
