It just so happens that terrifyingly interesting things and peoples can not so easily be stumbled upon in the Amazon rainforest. Dr. Elizabeth DeMarco was seeking any plant that may assist her in her attempts to find a cure for cancer. Dr. Logan Spencer was looking for his lover who has been missing for two years, Dr. Elizabeth DeMarco. What they both have inadvertently discovered perhaps could be a cure for many ailments and will most likely be the death of both of them.
Liz and Logan have many regrets. They would both like to change the events that separated them to begin with. Once reunited in the Amazon’s medical facility they both decide that they need to escape so that they can move past their regrets and go forth towards a happier life with each other. There’s just one problem. A mythical force that they lack the ability to manipulate holds them captive. Time is growing very short for Logan and the Amazon’s plans for him.
Amazon Heat is an exciting novella, telling the story of two doctors/lovers trying to escape the nefarious plans of a secret Amazon civilization. The Amazon women want their secret to remain hidden from the rest of the world. They cannot allow anyone who knows of them to ever leave their secret society.
This is an exciting short story. A woman doctor goes into the Amazon to search for a plant that she believes can cure cancer, breaking her lover's heart as she does so as he wants her to stay behind in the States and marry him. She is saved from a group of drug smugglers intent on rape by a group of Amazon warriors. However, the Amazons keep her captive for 2 years, wanting her medical expertise for their own gain.
During that time, he man is searching for her. The Amazons find him too and intend to keep him as a stud. After all, as the Amazon queen says, "He is male, is he not? Males rut." LOL
An enjoyable quick fantasy romance of two reunited lovers. Dr Elizabeth DeMarco is captured by a secret all female tribe deep in the Amazon jungle. The magical tribal women can harness the energy from the jungle, and have healing powers modern civilization would kill for. After two years in captivity working as a doctor and scientist with the tribe, her former love Logan Spenser is delivered to the tribe nearly dead. Elizabeth and Logan work to survive and escape, and possibly provide the world with a solution for curing cancer.
I downloaded this as an audiobook, and enjoyed the narration too. It was a light PNR kind of read, good to kill time while driving and shopping. There was a good steamy scene as well. It reminded me of a Harlequin Blaze but at a novella length. Enjoy.
Whoa! What an adventure in just 20,000 words. This is a quick, emphasis on quick there, little novella.
Elizabeth went into the amazon trying to find a cure for cancer. Instead she found a band of guerrillas who kidnapped her. When a lost Amazon tribe swoops in to kill her captors, she thinks that she is saved, but she quickly finds that this may not be the salvation that she was hoping for.
Logan has spent the last two years combing the amazon trying to find any trace of Elizabeth. He cannot accept that she is dead. In a freak accident, he too is captured by the Amazon tribe, but is now slated to become the tribe's sperm donor...whether he wants to or not.
This entire book has a huge sense of adventure to it. The feel of it reminds me so much of the movie Romancing the Stone. Elizabeth and Logan are both medical researchers and scientists, but they both feel so deeply towards each other. Logan has never given up on the hope for Liz's survival. On the other hand, it was just simply bad timing when Liz left to head into the amazon. It was sudden and she left things badly with Logan which she has always regretted. Honestly, neither one ever thought that they would get the chance to see the other again. That distance and regret has made their passion even hotter once they find each other again.
There were so many little things about this book that I liked: *the magical valley which the Amazon's live...seriously mystical *Logan- yum, 6'4" of muscular yumminess with a heart of gold. The fact that he never gave up on finding Liz after two years...awww. *Mari- the Amazon slave. I love her and her loyalty to Liz
The book was somewhat abrupt in its ending, but it definitely made it seem like there are more books to come in this series. I, for one, am very excited about that prospect, because I did enjoy this one!
I decided to read this one because I thought the blurb sounded a little crazy and fun:

But unfortunately, the blurb turned out to be more fun than the actual book. Since the blurb sets up the book pretty well, let me tell you why I didn’t enjoy this one very much.
First of all, the world is not explained very thoroughly. I wanted to know more about this all-female tribe and their magical powers. But we never get specific details. Elizabeth is held captive by these magical Amazon women, who have deep ties to the rainforest where they live (behind a secret veil). When we first see Elizabeth with the Amazons, she seems excited and happy to be researching a cure for the disease that is making these Amazon women sick. They happen to have a secret waterfall that heals injuries but it won’t heal whatever genetic disease that is targeting this group of women. She is concerned that if she can’t cure this disease, the entire clan will vanish. But then once Logan is captured by this same group, and brought back to where Elizabeth is staying, she decides she wants to escape. We are told she has never stopped watching and learning for a way to finally escape, and in the end it happens kind of easily.
Logan and Elizabeth’s reunion didn’t feel dramatic enough either. Logan has been searching for Elizabeth for two years, has no idea if she is even alive, then ends up injured so bad he gets cured from a waterfall and is reunited with Elizabeth and it felt like a very lackluster scene.
I wanted the entire story to be more over-the-top and crazy. Instead it falls flat and is on the boring side. It is a very short book, so it reads quickly. I finished and wanted more.
Elizabeth DeMarco is a research botonist who's soul purpose for being in the Amazon jungle was to try and find plant life that would garner the cure for cancer. She's left everything and everyone behind in hopes of saving others like she couldn't save her mother or sister. The cause is noble, but even from the very beginning seemed a little shortsighted.
When the Amazon warriors rescue her from a kidnapping attempt, she figures she's been saved. She didn't know that she was just in another form of kidnapping. She never attempts to escape, just keeps going on doing her research, blah, blah, blah.
It's not until her jilted lover/boyfriend, Logan Spencer, is brought into the Amazon Valley that Elizabeth develops a sense of needing to run away from the Amazons. Suddenly, the possibility of Logan being gang raped by a bunch of crazy women has lit a fire under Elizabeth to get the hell out of Dodge.
Logan is one of those men that we all hope our significant others will be should some dyer situation come up where we're missing. He never gave up looking for Elizabeth. She broke his heart and left him, but he takes every opportunity to trudge through the Amazon jungle looking for her. Despite the anger he felt when she left him, he still knew that Elizabeth was the one for him and just about sprayed her with his desire. Logan was hot, I'm just not sure Elizabeth was the the one for him.
A lot is crammed into this short read. While the premise of the storyline is promising, I just couldn't get past my dislike of Elizabeth to fully enjoy what was happening.
There is unfinished business between Dr. Elizabeth DeMarco and Professor Logan Spencer. That is where Amazon Heat begins. From there the reader is taken on an exciting journey through the mysterious and magical terrain of the Brazilian Amazon as lovelorn Logan searches tirelessly for the woman that left him behind. This is the perfect lazy Sunday afternoon read. The unshakeable bond between Logan and Liz will warm your heart and the action scenes will have your eyes glued to the page, wondering what will happen next. The first short story in a series, I only wish it had been longer and offered the reader more details of the protagonists' backgrounds and past relationship. That aside, a recommended read for those lovers of love stories with eyebrow-raising intrigue! :)
I've heard that only people with no imagination don't like to read. But even with a limitless amount of imagination, this story is so full of so many clichés that it's tedious to read. The characters seem shallow with no other emotions but love and desire contrasted by the Amazons who are moody and deadly and cold. Never do they actually seem to /feel/ anything even in life threatening situations but a puppy love for one another. Even though it is fantastical fiction, the story and characters lack any credibility. There are many cringe-worthy moments considering the actual writing, such as "Dur" and the pronoun "one" being used poorly in the same sentence. With predictable plot twists and cheesy lines, Amazon Heat is a rather short book but it is definitely long enough.
I think that this story was pretty complete considering it's length. There were one or two plot threads that the authors left dangling and an obvious set up for a second book that never came. This novella is a reunited lovers trope and I found that the romance between the main characters was believable. The supernatural aspects of the story were completely unique. They were something new and fresh for my PNR loving butt.
I liked the narrator. I enjoyed her using an accent for the Amazons. However I would have preferred her to use a more defining voice for the male character. Her pace was rather good and she was able to put some emotion into her performance.
For a short story, this book was full of adventure, danger, romance and more. One short sex scene, but it fit well with the story line. The author did a good job explaining the scene settings, the Amazon people and the danger that Beth and Logan found themselves. I round this story to be a nice, short adventure, with suspense some magic and a little romance thrown in. I absolutely love the cover of this book! I'd definitely try the book just by looking at the cover!

This was a very short story so I will keep my review short. I liked this story it was pretty good. Very different from Melinda’s other books. But still good. My only complain would be that because it was so short I felt like there were some things missing. Some questions left unanswered. But Melinda did leave the story open to continue in this world.

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.
The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this book.
If anything, this story was too short. I enjoyed the Amazons subplot, and it was obvious the authors had done their research on this legendary tribe of women. The romance was sweet and rewarding. I'm hoping Mari gets her own story soon.
This was a short, fantasy filled, action packed, romance of two reunited lovers. I totally enjoyed this story. The story line was great and the author packed alot into this short. I wish it had been longer.
what a cool story. I loved it. well written with great characters and a good storyline. the characters fit really well together to make this story buy it you will love it
More a novella than a novel, it was quick, silly, and fun. If you're looking for any depth at all, skip this one, but for me it was a fun way to fill an hour.
