Ganta and Senji find themselves alone fighting the Red Man, will the survive the experience? Meanwhile, possible the final pieces of Ganta and Shiro's pasts are revealed with Ganta's mother's backstory! It's so difficult to even get enthused with these endgame volumes when, like throughout the series, it is so hard to determine what is exactly going on during combat! Another One Star (3 out of 12) for a volume in this series!

I have read lots of dark things, but this made me sick to my stomach...
The revelations are shocking, though, like what I expected.

Why? Why you did that horrible thing to Shiro? It is torturing, sad and scary! (((
Now we have seen what happened before great Tokyo earthquake and how Red Man created. It was really heartbreaking... To see Shiro and Ganta like that. ..
Hope Senji, Shiro and Ganta wouldn't die. I love them all.

This is probably my favorite volume of the series. We get Shiro backstory, which is just fucking heartbreaking. I had an idea but seeing it, ugh, makes you feel for this girl. On top of that Shinji get's to shine and my oh my, does he. Not only his he badass but heartfelt moments that makes you go "NOOOOOOO!" and overall a great ending. The pacing, comedy, drama all hit in this volume. This is leading to a very satisfying finale.

Nothing interesting about this volume to be honest....their whole backstory felt cheap and forced in the last minute.

A very dark and dreary manga that takes on a whole new meaning to action. Deadman Wonderland raises the bar for dystopian manga in my opinion and I like it! Some scenes made my stomach roll (which is difficult to do) so this isn't for the faint of heart and really not recommended for those under 16. Otherwise definitely read it if you think you can stomach the blood and limbs flying everywhere. But I definitely dive into this kickass story. You will be rooting for every character as they fight for their lives!

With Volume 11, we finally get the full story of Shiro and the Wretched Egg. It's expectedly twisted and sad. Senji, meanwhile, fights a bitter battle to the death, taking out the twins and Toto - but at a huge cost.

Story: Ganta has been captured and imprisoned. He is to be used as a body for which Hagire Rinichirou will assume and overwrite his memories. Ganta will remember what happened with Shiro and their shared history together - and then his mind will be completely destroyed. Senji, meanwhile, is badly injured but decides to fight on to free Ganta - the kid he has come to respect. As the group in the submarine and Ganta come to understand all that happened to Shiro (and why Ganta purposely wiped her from his memory one night), the horror may just sink them all.

There are quite a few revelations and, of course, some great battles as Senji armors up higher and higher, against all odds. We also get more background on the mysterious twins and a lot of pathos from Ganta's mother as she watches in horror what is happening to Shiro but has to accept Hagire's mad and vicious experiments.

We still don't know what happened to Ganta's mother. That Hagire took over Toto and wants to do the same to Ganta is enough to keep both Senji and Ganta fighting for their freedom to the bitter end. But who will survive? Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

We seem to finally have all the answers and yet there are 2 more volumes to go. SPOILERS AHEAD Ganta's memory was apparently wiped which is why he couldn't remember much about Shiro, at least at will. Rinichiro Hagire is perhaps the most cruel character I've ever had the displeasure of learning about and what he makes Shiro and so many others go through is absolutely devastating. This one had a lot of backstory which means that I could finally empathise with Ganta and some other characters for the very first time. Senji is still as cool as ever and he does his utmost to protect Ganta and the main character of course reciprocates this intention. Hagire's main goal was to transfer his mind into Ganta's erasing the protagonist's entire identity in the process in order to have all the branches of sin and perhaps become the most formidable human being on the planet. Shiro is basically the Deadpool of Deadman Wonderland and was the one who metaphorically birthed all the branches of sin users. She's I suppose the trunk from which all the branches stemmed and evolved individual abilities, not equally powerful, all using blood. Not quite sure what's left to say although I do expect a resolution where Shiro, Ganta, Hagire, Senji, and Ganta's mom are involved. I'm glad to see that this is one of the only series which I've ever read that features a character who is a crossdresser and perhaps the closest representation of a gender fluid or trans person.

Volume 11 covers chapters 45-48

Ganta makes a plea deal with Woodpecker, agreeing to go back to the Wonderland to spare his friends' lives. After being captured, he learns how Shiro developed a split personality, the mastermind Woodpecker’s intentions and the inner workings of his own powers. Crow infiltrates to bust out his friend, and the two fight hard to get back to their crew.

Best volume so far. Shiro’s backstory is incredibly dark and sad. I really feel for her now. Ganta subconsciously erased his own memories of their childhood together because he couldn’t handle the trauma of what happened between them. I can’t say I blame either one for how their minds were broken after being treated like inhuman lab rats. Maybe Ganta can actually get through to her now that he understands her and himself better.

In Ganta’s moment of greatest weakness, Crow busts in to rescue him from the Woodpecker so he can confront Shiro. Crow really gets his chance to shine as he puts up an insane fight against Woodpecker and his puppet minions. Looks like it could possibly be the end of my favorite character in the series. If so, he went down like a real hero. I hope he lives to help Ganta in the real final battle.

Great backstories, battles and character development in this volume.

Loved this volume! The flashbacks were included in such a unique way, and there was some great art compared to the rest of the series. Everything feels like it has more weight to it now, and although not much has changed and I still think it's a bit formulaic, this volume succeeded in being both impactful and relevant to the story and characters moving forward. I loved seeing the way Ganta and Shiro have evolved from their past selves, and the spotlight on childhood trauma and the ways in which kids cope with it was well done.

All of the random background snippets of Ganta’s life and relationship with Shiro finally make sense. We understand the Branch of Sin and The Wretched Egg. I know Ganta’s mother shows signs of remorse and isn’t as insane as Rinichirō, but she is still just as to blame for the torture and traume Ganta and Shiro had gone through. I hate last minute solutions to things because it feels lazy, but I am glad Ganta stepped in right as Shinji was about to die. I’m too emotionally connected to that one eyed man.

I'm definitely enjoying the third and final arc of DW. Putting aside the horror and action of the previous two arcs, we are starting to discover some of the mysteries of Shiro's unfortunate past and how Ganta's mother participated in provoking the Tokyo earthquake 10 years ago.

Toto wants to unleash Shiro's powers at all costs and thus ensues a gruelsome battle against the handful of Deadmen that want to finish the horror.

Well worth your time.

In this edition of Deadman Wonderland, we begin to get more of the background of Ganta, Shiro and the foundation of the Deadman Wonderland. In the last book, Ganta was told to talk to the Wretched Egg when they fought. That opens the story. The artwork is interesting and the story is moving well.

FINALLY some decent back story. Oh my freaking god.
This is probably the best volume of the entire series so far. I'm finally starting to understand it, although that's a shame because there's only two volumes left.

Poor Shiro! :(
I mentioned something about this before but because I thought it again while reading this volume: there's some nice use of perspectives and different "camera angles", it's really well drawn in that regard.

I always add an additional star when Crow gets to be a badass, I can't help it.
Talk about making a monster, as Shiro's past makes your stomach turn. Once again, man messing with medicine and science he shouldn't. Not to mention body snatching! The finale is ramping up!

This was such a good volume of Deadman Wonderland! The art and characters were great as usual, but the story in Volume 11 was especially great.
