Nicholas White was once a carefree self-styled computer geek. One fateful evening, he receives a phone call from his younger sister, an FBI Agent; computers are involved with a horrific crime, and no one in the office has the expertise to handle it. Nicholas flies in to assist.... and enters a circle of Hell no rational person could ever conceive of.
That one incident leads Nicholas down a different path than the one he had planned, taking him all over the world, working computer crime cases deemed too hot for regular law enforcement agencies to handle.
There's a report card from my third grade teacher that reads "William is happiest when left on his own with a book." After way too many years to count, nothing has really changed.
Spider's Overture is not my usual genre, but I found myself unable to put it down.
The hero, Nicolas White, is sort of the James Bond of computer nerds. By that, I mean he's a debonair ladies' man who can hack into any computer. His work for law enforcement takes him into the dark world of child predators where his faith in humanity is tested. Nicolas's adventures are repellant, fascinating, haunting and heartbreaking.
There's just enough detail on the computer hacking for it to be interesting but not so much it's overwhelming. The criminal investigation details are tastefully done and not offensive at all. I can't wait to read the sequel to this novella (Spider's Dance).
I thoroughly enjoyed this series of books. The characters were witty, engaging and compelling. These books were hard to put down. I am hoping Will Graham will publish more novels.
I was not prepared for the gut wrenching emotional ride this story took me on. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Great storyline! The characters are so real you feel like you know them. The crime such a horrifying reality it's every parents worst nightmare. Nicholas' strength and courage through it all has stolen a piece of my heart and I can't wait to read more! Don't miss this one!
