A great intro to how houses are built. Doesn't assume any prior knowledge and goes incredibly in-depth from sourcing of materials, their physical properties, how they fit together to make a house, and the ecosystem of service providers, financiers, suppliers needed to build a house. A bit dry at times, but the author does a good job of moving things along and providing lots of pictures. The pictures don't work very well on the Kindle version though.
