Each episode is about 30 pages long and provides a satisfying story you can read in a single sitting, with a plot and characters you can follow as the series continues.
This story is a bit like Sex and the City but more real. Unlike the women in Sex and the City, as I read it I found myself identifying with characters and seeing my friends in them too. It was so true to life and well written.
Not Yet 40 is hilarious! It's Chick Lit but better. You don't have the cheesy romance crap or the overly perfect women in their overly perfect friendships and relationships. There's sex, there's swearing (a lot of swearing), and women who come off as oh so real!
This is just the first installment and I am definitely looking forward to reading more! One of the most enjoyable reads I've had in awhile. Highly recommended!
I swear, it's like the author knows my previous exes! I could see so much of my past relationships in this book. I'd love to have coffee with the author sometime, it sounds like we've had some common experiences!
I was a little disappointed by the ending, but it will be fun to see just how it pans out later. All in all, an enjoyable read!
To say that this book is interesting just does not sum it up. This book is by far more than just interesting it is about life that all women have faced. Please be aware that this review may contain spoilers. I was given a free copy of this book for review. This review is my honest opinion and does not reflect being given the free book.
This book starts out interesting and juicy with Jessica having sex with her boyfriend. Jessica's boyfriend is a medical doctor who likes to use medical terms for describing anything related to the body.
Maria is a lawyer with a 3 year old daughter. Maria has a problem with her language and it has rubbed off on her daughter, Isabella.
Susan works at a consulting firm and is best friends with Keith (who is homosexual). They use to work together but now Keith works for a rival agency.
Actually all the characters in this book are best friends. This book is suppose to be published in settlements or as the publisher stated episode's. I will admit that I am looking forward to the next episode. I rate this book as 4 star's.

Not yet 40 is the first installment in a new series about a set of 30-somethings in Boston. The "episode" is short enough to be read in one sitting. It starts the story of Jessica, Maria, Susan, and Keith, a group of friends going through the trials and tribulations of life. It talks about relationships, dating, single parenthood, sexual orientation, and the ability of friends to see each other through life.
The series has the potential to be funny and interesting. Three concerns. First, this episode starts off with a graphic sexual scene. That is not my taste of reading. The detailed description is not necessary. Second, one of the characters is described as having "foul" mouth. Again, the language is not to my taste. Third, this episode just introduces a story. It will be interesting to see if the characters and story line develop more fully as the series progresses. Hopefully, it will. The potential is there.

This is episode 1 of a Chick-Lit series. It more of a short story. I got a nice feel for the characters and found them very likable. I'm not sure why it is just one episode. Maybe because the author wanted to see if the interest is there to finish it? Hard to say, but I was disappointed to see it end, as I wanted more of the story!
There's Jessica, an overweight lawyer, who is completely bored with her overweight doctor boyfriend of 8 months. Maria is a fellow lawyer, a single mother who's 3 year old gets kicked out of a private preschool for following in her mother's footsteps of cursing like a sailor. Susan, a consultant who can't seem to meet the right man. When she thinks she has, he's stolen away by her best friend, Kevin. Turns out her blind date is gay!
It was a fun, light read. It reminded me a little of Sex in the City and is just as fun. This first chapter has me eager awaiting more.
Although I ended up liking this witty chick lit beginning of a series, I will say that it will be offensive to a lot of people due to the filthy language (of one character-well more than one if you count her daughter!) as well as the sexually explicit scene that starts the book.
If you can get past that (?) then you'll find it's a quick and light read. I was sort of disappointed that it was so short and the 2nd one hasn't been published yet. :)
I got this as a free sample and thought it was okay. It was very light reading, which can be a lot of fun, but I didn't feel like I got enough out of the story to care about any of the characters just yet. I'll be interested to see what the second section is like and if there is a chance to connect to the characters or at least feel something for them.
This is the first couple of chapters or installments to a longer book and it's quite good so far, very funny. It's a chicklit type book about several friends, all very different and all looking for love.
I received a free coupon to give this book a look.
I used to read books similar to this as a teenager. And look, there is now a gossipy, girly book for my age! A delicious, fun, brainless read that made me want to see the next installment!
This is the story of 3 ladies (Kaylee, Susan, and Maria) in the mid to late thirties and the trials they have with dating, career, and family. Each of the women is interesting in their own, but together make a fun group to learn about. Can't wait to read episode 2.

I was very disappointed to find this book started with a very descriptive sex scene. In most cases I really prefer to not read such decriptive material. Though the book may be interesting I have chose not to read it because of its sexual content.
Even though this was a quick read, I did get engrossed with what was happening to each character throughout the book. I don't have a favorite character yet, but I'm sure that they will all be as "interesting" in the next episode as they were in this one, and I can't wait to read it.
