Summary (for the whole manga): Amano Ichigo is offered to attend St. Marie Academy, a school dedicated to educate potential patissieres. At first, no one has faith in Ichigo, the so-called student who was scouted by Henry-sensei (great grandson of the Marie Lucas, founder of the academy). After befriending the Sweet Princes trio, partnering with sweets spirits, and going through challenges and competitions, Ichigo finally sees herself baking cakes that can make people happy.
Review: It's a cute manga with a simple story line. Since it's a shoujo manga intended for young girls, this manga is not so complex with its characters and plot. Light read too.
I liked it- mainly due to my interest in food. The drawing is plain but the author clearly has a distinctive style that makes it easy for people to recognize that it is hers. The storyline at least deals with some professional topics, even though the overall plot rings the typical shojo manga.
So far, while the main character, Ichigo has given a better impression that most shojo manga characters for the first volume so I'd be looking forward for the next.
Though the story is targeted for younger children, I enjoyed it and besides, the food makes my mouth water. It's surprising that all the characters seem fit.
Gaah! I envy Ichigo-chan... i want to have that kind of talent too! :P hahaha i've actually read this story before but i forgot where i stopped so i'm gonna read it all over again. XD haha! If only sweets fairies were real. It would be awesome. Damn. I really like this manga. I've watched the 1st and 2nd season of the Anime too! ♡
It's got the same vibe as Kitchen Princess, however, I am thoroughly enjoying this! I think this manga is more focused on the cooking and not so much on her life. I love her hard-working nature. Very inspiring!
I saw this as an anime when I was younger. I really enjoyed it, I love that it's a typical shoujo manga. I always enjoyed these "Ichigo" type of girls and "Kashino" type of tsundere guys. It's an awesome read! I also love that this manga have trivias about making cakes and our favorite desserts.
10 volumes read, 12 volumes total. I will not read volumes 11-12, since they're nearly impossible to find.
I didn't expect this to be such a page-turner! The sweets competition was so fun to read, and the romance was very cute too. The characters were really tropey, but I came to enjoy them a lot! I loved Ichigo and Kashino. Too bad I wouldn't be able to read about their wedding in Vol. 12.
It was a bit boring. Our main character is at a school and we only see her bake/cook. Sure, the book is about becoming a patissiere, but I would just love to see her in other situations too. Like during a class, see how she does there. Or when she is having a free day, see her shopping or being with friends (and no not the Genius Group). It became a bit boring and I also see what I dropped the manga. I love cakes, I love baking, but for something to be ONLY about that and nothing more... no thank you.
And add to that, we barely have any backstory on Ichigo. She just can taste cake and magically know what it is and where it is from. She is hard-working, sees fairies, and well that is it. I would love to know about her family, her life before the school, how she has gotten such a refined knowledge on cakes. Maybe we will get that later, but I wish they had done it in this volume. I didn't connect with Ichigo, while I think I would have done that if I had known her story.
Then we have various boys (all of course bishies), though I didn't like them all. Especially that Chocolate Loving Guy (sorry, I didn't like him so I am not going to remember his name). I hated him and his Oh look I am sooooo fabulous and everyone sucks attitude. He warms up to Ichigo a bit at the end of this volume, but sorry I don't like him and never will.
Of course, as is with most of these manga (though normal books also have it), we have a couple of jealous girls who do anything to take Ichigo down. *rolls eyes*So cliché.
All in all, I am not sure if I want to read it further. If we get some backstory, sure, but otherwise I am out. I am not going to read 10+ volumes about baking, baking, hot boys with crap attitude, fantasy elements, some more baking.
Všechny obálky vypadají překrásně, kouzelně a mají svůj osobitý styl a šarm.
I read this book later after finding Kitchen princess and after reading it watched the anime. The story to me was fun and seeing the characters change over the whole series was great
