Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Getting the guy next door in your bed isn’t always the easiest thing for a girl to do, especially when she believes that he doesn’t see her as a woman at all. For Hope, being in love with Ethan St. Claire is something that she has been fighting for as long as she can remember, and yet she can’t help but notice a change in him that is making it harder to resist taking what he seems to be offering. Will taking the one night stand be everything that she needs to banish him from her dreams or will she end up only wanting more in the end that she thinks he wants to give her?
Ethan St. Claire wants Hope in a way that he knows he shouldn’t. She has to be the most delicious woman that he has ever seen and yet she doesn’t seem to notice that she makes it hard for him with just a look. The time has come for her to come to heel or else. Ethan is willing to do anything to make Hope his, even making her darkest fantasy come true, but in doing this will he gain the love of the woman who has had his heart or just more memories to heat his empty bed after she is gone?
Having never read anything from Scarlett Sanderson before, I can say that she is a wonderful author that in a short number of pages really made the story come to life for Hope, Ethan and Dominic. These characters were not only lively on the page, but would make great sequels in the future for readers like me that would love to know more about each of them. If you are looking for a quick read that is sure to short circuit your e-reader during the sex scenes than this is the story for you, it would definitely make a great addition to anyone’s collection of books.

Review: I'm starting to think there needs to be two categories of 5 flame erotica. Some people might like this style of book, but it's not for me. I decided to check out some reviews for this and found only ratings without comments, so I can't tell why they liked it. I was really looking forward to this quickie. Two alpha-male mechanics and a school teacher… great premise. Just not well done.
The language is graphic and raunchy, which isn't always bad; but it's also repetitive, crass, and boring. The story was inconsistent with actions, buildup/flow, and characters. The characters are supposed to be old friends, but I didn't see it or feel anything deeper between them. There is a threesome encounter, but Dominic was just a handy male outline with a quick, unimaginative role. I'm not against erotica without the chemistry and emotions, but this was just unimpressive in romance or the attempt at hot sex.

Since this was a Quickie (and it was super short), we jump right into the sex with this one. But I think the author does a pretty good job of describing the attraction between the two. We know they've been friends for a very long time. We know Hope has pined for Ethan since they were young, but Hope was the studious sort and Ethan was a bad boy and she would have never made a move on him. She moved away for a while, but she's back in town now, and Ethan believes it's time for them both to finally get what they want.
And while they're getting what they want, Ethan coaxes another one of Hope's fantasies from her: two men. And not just any two men. Ethan and his best friend Dominic. So, for Christmas, Ethan makes that happen for her.
Like I said, very short but sweet. I like friends-to-lovers, and this was a good one.

I love when the nerd gets the hottie! This is a friends-turned-lovers short story with steamy sex scenes that will have you squirming in your seat. Hope has a fantasy about being with two men at once so for Christmas Ethan makes that happen. Dominic was pretty much just a tool in the fantasy with no emotional connection beyond simple friendship, but he did his job well.
This is a very short, very yummy read. It’s nothing special, it’s not a knock your socks off read, it’s just a good get your motor running little story.

This was a cute, short story. It had a friends-to-lovers theme, which I love. Hope and Ethan have been friends since high school, but she was a geek and he was a typical bad boy. They were both attracted to each other but never made the move to more. Now Hope has moved back to town and Ethan decides it's time to take their relationship to the next level. I recommend this to anyone who likes friends-to-lovers and threesomes (m/f/m, not permanent).

I thought this quickie was super hot. I loved Ethan and Dominic. And yeah, Hope was ok too. I really liked all the sexual tension. And when Ethan and Hope got together it was hot. I was a little disappointed when the three of them hooked up though. After all the build up, I thought it would have been scorchin', but it was just ok to me. I loved the rest of this short though. So, I'm giving it a 4.

Hope is a school teacher who secretly desires her friend, Ethan... AND his friend Dominic. :) Overall a cute story. Not the best friends to lovers I have ever read, but still decent. Dominic comes into the story later and adds a little spice with some menage action. Without the menage at the end the whole book would have fell flat.
