A treatise on the role of design in modern society. The writing needs better proofreading and editing, but his arguments are insightful. I especially liked his chapters on Environments, Identities, and Systems.

Nice little book on design theory. The geologic/alluvial analogy to design styles, practices and values is really helpful. Very nice "Further reading" section, got a few hints to other lesser known books.
