Wisconsin natives, Ana Leigh and her husband, Don, have three children and five grandchildren. From the time of the publication of her novel, LOVE'S LONG JOURNEY, by Leisure Books in 1981, Ana successfully juggled her time between her chosen career and her hobby of writing, until she officially retired in September of '94 to devote more time to her "hobby." In the past she has been a theater cashier (who married the boss,) the head of an accounting department, a corporate officer, and the only female on the Board of Directors of an engineering firm.

This best selling author (New York Times and USA Today bestsellers lists) received a Romantic Times Career Achievement Award nomination for Storyteller of the Year in 1991, the BOOKRAK 1995-1996 Best Selling Author Award for her May release, THE MACKENZIES: LUKE, the Romantic Times 1995-1996 Career Achievement Award for Western Historical Romance, and the Romantic Times 1996-1997 Career Achievement Award for Historical Storyteller of the Year. Ana still considers her proudest achievement as that of homemaker.

What chaos and unfortunately, what a disappointment! Granted my expectations may have been too high for A Question Of Honor as its predecessor These Hallowed Hills is my favourite romance novel of all-time, but still, I expected far more.

The angst between Matthew and Raven felt forced from the start and had a general feeling of immaturity. It lacked that charged push/pull we all love in these stories. It felt like Leigh was trying too hard to sell that these two were destiny from page three. She didn't provide the nurturing she gave in book one of the series that made it so lush, full and captivating a love story. Add in a change of setting from Scotland to early Colonial America with a violent subplot regarding the conflict between the Puritans and the Native Americans, a majority of the book left me with the feeling that it was more important to Leigh that the reader realize how thoroughly she had researched her background material than the actual romance at the centre of it all.

And while Book 2 was a huge let-down, I do plan to complete the series, if only out of respect to the original super-couple, Robert and Elizabeth.

I loved reading about Robert and Elizabeth Kirkland's daughter. The Kirkland chronicles were the first Historical romance series I had ever read.
