Janiece Hawkins never thought she'd find herself facing a love triangle. More than that; a love triangle with a married man. KP, the man of her dreams swept her completely off her feet before telling her he was married with two kids. Too deep in love to let go, she became accustom to being KP's other woman and didn't have a problem with her role as KP's mistress until she met Isaiah. Isaiah ready to commit and make Janiece his, he stops at nothing to win her over, even though Janiece is stuck on KP. Things spiral out of control when KP decides it's time to leave Kimberly, his wife to be with Janiece. Drama kicks into high gear when Isaiah fights to have Janiece and Kimberly also fights to keep KP. The ultimate decision has to be made by Janiece. Who will she run to when she is ready to love?

I really don't know where to start with this review. I hate to use this word again because I used it in the last review of an Anna Black book, but the heroine Janiece was just so pathetic. I really wanted to throw up while reading about the way she was behaving at times. The way she was fawning over this married man K.P. was just really despicable. She finally grew a backbone and kicked him to the curb 2 chapters before the end of the book, but it was just too little too late for me. In the beginning I did think K.P. was just a dog, but after his situation was explained I could understand where he was coming from, but it still didn’t make his actions inexcusable. I would have rated this book lower, but everything going on was just such a mess that I just couldn’t stop reading it for the life of me. K.P.’s wack job of a wife did provide a lot of comic relief. Her rants really had me laughing throughout the book. Janiece’s sister really served as a positive light in the book because she was the voice of reason for her sister. She always had a lot of good advice for her, and stood by her side even though she didn’t always agree with what she was doing.
My advice for Anna Black is to please write a book with a strong black female lead. This is the 2nd book that I have read from you and both leads I have described with the word pathetic, and it is really disappointing. Although this is fiction, these women are certainly not any woman that I would want to call a friend in real life. Although the drama is entertaining, and you can’t turn away from the train wreck, it is not something that I want to read repeatedly. I always like to give authors a chance and I will read you next book, but if it is more of the same it will probably be my last.
BRIEF SUMMARY Janiece is in a love triangle with KP, who is married, and Isaiah, an army man who is looking for the right woman. With issues that are growing beyond Janiece's control, she has to decide whom she will chose.
THOUGHTS
This was a dysfunctional soap opera that was morally messed up on so many levels but entertaining as well. I also have to say that I was so into the story, that Janiece's character actually frustrated me to the point where I felt that I wanted to shake her silly. I think all the characters really challenge me in this book while I was reading it.
Janiece has been with KP for 5 years as a mistress, as one would say, and wants him to leave his wife to start a life with her. Her decisions along the way have her confused about her choices. I was all for Janiece but sometimes I felt as frustrated as sister, Janelle. KP is married and feels he has married his wife for the wrong reasons. In the beginning, I wanted to choke KP. He had some Jedi mind trick he would use on Janice. He had her twisted from the side, the front, and the back. Until you read more about him in depth, he was a charmer, then I didn't feel like choking him anymore. After hitting the slums with KP for a while, Janiece meets Isaiah. Isaiah was fine, the author didn't even have to describe him to me, his first encounter with Janiece, he had me at Hi. Then there is the psycho and demented wife of KP, Kimberly. You cannot talk or reason with crazy and that she was.
As the story progressed, Janiece's dilemma had a few twist and turns, with a sprinkle of karma in there. You were definitely kept on your toes with whom she chooses in the end. I think this was a good story, but if you are looking for that sweet, boy meets girl, morally nice read, this is not the story for you. However, if you’re just looking for a laid back story to read and entertain you, this is it.
Storyline: GOOD Intimacy: GOOD Enjoyment: GOOD kindle length: 4105
This read was not as great as " Now you want to come back" but its a very good read, I loved the ending. Keep up the Great Work, Anna Black, I'm on to the next one
So far I'm enjoying the story line. Drama at its best. Finally finished and Ms. Black blowed me away with this book. Definetly a good read. Now I'm going to read part 2.
OMG!!!! THIS WAS SO GOOD BUT I COULD HAVE BEAT THE HELL OUT OF KIMBERLY MY DAMN SELF.KP WAS SO WRONG TO HAVE JAI ON HOLD FOR SO LONG BUT JAI HAD TO LEARN THE HARD WAY CAN'T WAIT TILL PART 2.
This Book Got 3 Stars From Me, Because How Pathetic Janiece Behaved From Beginning To End. I Screamed “Stupid” So Many Times That I Completely Lost Count. Janiece Knew Exactly What She Wanted, But Couldn’t Bring Herself To Say It Aloud. Janiece Had Been Having An Affair With Married K.P For 5 Years. Believing & Accepting Any & Everything That K.P Tells Her. She Finds Herself Caught Between Trying To Remain True To “Married” K.P & Dating Next Door Neighbor Fine Ass Army Brother. She Basically Used Isaiah To Try & Get Passed K.P, But It Didn’t Work. I Wasn’t Team K.P At All, But Everything He Told Janiece About Leaving His Crazy Ass Wife Came To Pass, Because He Finally Did. In Some Ways Janiece Was Already Over K.P, Because Isaiah Was Invading Her Brain Everytime She Was With K.P. She Knew Exactly What She Wanted, But Kept Telling K.P & Isaiah The Same Lie. “I Need More Time, I Need More Time.” Thank Goodness Janiece Had A Sister To Be A Good Sound Board, & Be Honest About Her Dating A Married Man. Janelle Didn’t Like K.P But Put Up With Because Of Her Sister. I Honestly Feel That Janelle Took K.P Crazy Wife More Serious Than Janiece Did. For Good Reason Though. Janiece Honestly Pissed Me Off So Bad The Last Hour Of This Book To Where I Don’t Want To Even Read The Second Book. It’s A No For Me. Definitely Need More Books Of Women Standing In Their Worth & Not Taking Any Shit.
The only reason I didn’t DNF this, was because by the time I realized this was all there was, I was too far in. And after that you gone get what’s coming to you.
I rolled my eyes so many times I thought they would roll right out of my head. I like mess like the next person but this wasn’t even good mess. Janiece and I would have fallen out so long ago. 5 years!!! Being a mistress and content to be one is one thing (crazy but you comfortable). Being a mistress for 5 years and crying to sleep every night is loser behavior. Starting faithful and loyal to a man who can’t by definition and action be faithful to you is wild 😩.
If you looked in the dictionary for flip flopping ass b****, you’d see Janiece’s picture crying over KP while hugging Isaiah and looking 👀 over her shoulder. Cause damn. “I didn’t even think of KP once today” proceeds to pursue Isaiah. Then thinks of KP. Cuts off Isaiah, “I haven’t thought of Isaiah once.” Then proceeds to tell everyone she’s not over KP while slobbing down Isaiah.
The amount of ping ponging that was going on had me tired.
The only person I kinda felt bad for in this story was Janelle. She didn’t deserve that. Me and my sister would not be cool after that🤷🏾♀️!
This book started kinda slow, but it quickly got very good!!!…The foolishness was real!!!…KP was ready to switch things up, but Janiece realized she was worth more than being the side chick to someone else husband!!!…I was so happy for her and Isiah and was excited to see what was to become of them 2!!!… Kimberly was a sick woman out here on the loose!!!…She didn’t want KP, but she didn’t want another woman to have him, all the while she had a whole man on the side too!!!… The fact that Kimberly decided that assaulting someone was the way to go, knowing that KP had moved on with his life, she knew where he was, but her misdirected anger has landed her behind bars!!!…
This book was a lot. Love triangles on top of love triangles. KP married to Kimberly and cheating with Janiece. Kimberly cheating with Rodney. Janiece seeing both KP and Isaiah. Janice was sooooo annoying. By the time she chose a man I no longer cared who she ended up with. Kimberly was crazy. KP was not a catch. And the narrator's voice was too mature for these characters.
My co-worker suggested that I read this book - I normally do not ready romance books but this one kept me turning the pages - But definitely a must read. i couldn’t put it down and was totally surprised how it ended. Cannot wait for part 2 of this book.
This book was typical...then it was not. Okay let me state the obvious and work backwards. I gave this book 5 stars because it was an enjoyable read overall. It had all the components of drama, hot mess, suspense, audacity, and a smorgasbord of other things happening all at once. The story was easy to follow and kept me engaged. My OCD was mildly activated with a few misppelled words but I was able to stay focused on my reading. Now, I struggled with the story itself. I have a bias...while I realize it is a story, it disturbed me...probably because it hit too close to home...this is someone's story so I found myself getting emotionally involved in the story to a degree. The whole married man thing is taboo. I can't even begin to engage in a conversation on this right here, it's too much. The book definitely brings out the complexities of such relationships, especially if there are children involved. I read most of the time with my jaw on the floor. It was most unbelievable how things were happening. We all say what we wouldn't allow to happen. We all would like to think we are stronger and we would like to honor covenant...I am hoping there is a sequel to this book as I would like to see what happens to Kimberly, the kids, etc. I did not like how it ended. I really wanted some more POW to come to Kimberly after all of her shenanigans.
I really enjoyed this story....It was pretty good and realistic..This story reminded me of so many females I know...Weak and strong...Some of the things Janiece did was a little stupid but hey...She did fall under a category where she did not know her worth..but she did triumph...It may be crazy to say...but I was actually rooting for her and KP....Yes he was a married man... and he should not have been cheating on his wife..but KP and Janiece relationship was just so intriguing to me...I felt, yes he did string her along...but his home front was destined to be a disaster from day one...He definitely should not have gotten married to kimberly if he did not love her...Which Kim did not really want him anyway...So I don't see what the big deal was...I was a little sadden at how Janice cut KP off...I felt it was a little harsh just because she met Isaiah...KP was never really harsh with her...He was always up front...she could've stepped years ago...As far as Isaiah...He was ok...He did not really scream sexy to me like KP...I think she will go back to KP...I'm hoping...but who knows what Mrs. Black has up her sleeve coming in book 2 "Who Do I Run To Now"...I can't wait....
When I think of this book, I automatically think of the old SWV song. Its a true saying for Janiece, a full-figured diva who is in limbo and doesn't know who she can run to..when she needs love. For years she has been creeping on the low as a mistress. But what happens when a new love is on the horizon and her heart fights to not only keep it flourishing but keep her past situation intact? Throw in a crazed wife and you got yourself a drama-filled plot.
I gave it 4.5 stars:
As always, I enjoyed this read by Anna Black. The plot was well developed and I like the fact that the characters don't just fall in love in two weeks. The book actually has time lapses that shows time is passing. I like that because I hate when a character falls in love with a stranger..in three days, lol. Though the ending gave some closure, it seemed a bit rushed. Like there is always a lot of detail throughout the book which resulted in a long read but when it got to the end..its like bam, and over. Nonetheless, it was a good read.
This is my first book by Anna Black and I must say that I truly enjoyed it. Janiece was true to the character she was written as. At first I couldn't stand K.P., but after reading his situation I was actually cheering for him and Janiece to have a happily ever after. I liked Isaiah, but there was something about him that didn't sit too well with me and I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was something. Kimberly was a hot, spoiled mess. She was so smart until she was dumb as a box of rocks. I mean honestly, leaving evidence like hateful letters, and voice mails incriminating yourself if just bananas.
The book ended a little to abruptly for me and didn't seem as though it served its full potential. K.P. seemed to have just faded into the abyss without a fight seems off considering his nature through out the book. Then Isiah and Janiece mmm ... I don't know. I hope there's a sequel to finish this story off right.
I'm looking forward to reading other works from Anna Black.
Aaaaw sh*t--this is what I'm talkin' 'bout!!! Wow, what a love triangle. What's weird is I usually don't read these types of books, but I have to say Anna Black got some skills. This was really, really good!
Janiece was your typical side-piece woman--wanting her married lover to leave his wife and kids, so she could have him all to herself. His lies and promises was really getting on her nerves, but she hung in there for many years. But what is a side-piece woman 'sposed to do?
Never in Janiece's wildest imagination did she ever think she could actually get her "own" man, and God has a way of answering prayers, which he did, but not without complications. Throw in the very sexy Isaiah, and we got a damn good story. The love scenes were awesome and the story has so many twists and turns and keeps the reader guessing as to who will Janiece run too? You have to read to find out! Damn this book was sizzlin'!
I really enjoyed another title I read by Anna Black and picked this one up as soon as I finished “Now You Wanna Come Back”. I did not enjoy this title as much as I did the others. The ending was too abruptly and there was something missing, I did not feel any depth to the characters particularly the main character Janiece. I have “Who Do I Run to Now” I hope I like that one better.
So Anna Black has done it again with this new series!!!!!! I loved the new characters and the new drama.I even mad me think about my own relationship im in lol.I just wished that she realize what she had sooner than wasting precious time. Its ok we live and learn.Great Job can wait to start two.
I just could not understand Janiece's character, but I guess that there are several Janiece's out there in real life. She, in my opinion, was truly pathetic, and I honestly didn't want her to have a happy ending.
I disliked this story line from the beginning but I stuck it out. I thought it would take a turn for the better but it did not. I have to say, it kept me interested enough to read it completely. No, I will not be reading the follow up.
This was a good read... It was a very typical storyline that did not surprise me at all. Girl meets boy ... boy is married; they enter into a relationship for 5 years. When he finally decides to leave his wife, girl has fallen in love with another boy ... so typical!
Anna Black has turn out to be in my top 5 favorite Authors her ability to tell a story is nothing short of amazing I literally want to read every book she has ever written
This was my first time reading Anna Black. I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were somewhat realistic. The story sucked you in and made you want to fast forward to the end. Great read!
