This is another outstanding book by Nida (co-authored by Tabor). I highly recommend it, even for those who are not Bible translators. Every student of the Scriptures can greatly benefit from a close reading of this text. There is some redundancy from Nida's Towards a Science of Translating (1964), but it is still, IMHO, worth reading them both. Though now over 40 years old, it still has much to teach us.
It was an immense help in the days when I was working with various Bible translations in three languages, and it left me with valuable, lasting perspective on how language works. (I have never studied semantics or linguistics.)
