James Rogan was born to a single mother cocktail waitress who later raised her four children on welfare and food stamps, and who ended up as a convicted felon. His bartender father abandoned his mother and him before his birth. In 1998, as a Republican member of the House Judiciary Committee, his colleagues selected him to help lead the impeachment and prosecution of President Bill Clinton-the same Arkansas lawyer who advised him to go into law and politics two decades earlier.Rough Edges is a rarity among Washington tales. Judge Rogan is a law professor of mine. He is literally one of the best, if not THE best professor I've ever had. The man is truly amazing. And the book is a great biography.

Fascinating story of rise of Jim Rohan from illegitimacy and welfare and high school dropout to California state Republican leader, congressman and judge. Has both touching and laugh-out-loud stories and feels like someone speaking from his heart, not in what will sell books. A few unexpected copy errors doesn’t take away from the inspirational final product.
