Tessa, the youngest Spencer sister--and the most impulsive--rushes into the Mount Ridge crisis center bent on saving her brother-in-law. She's ready to handle Brent's abductor, with or without help. What she's not ready to handle is the effect policeman, Colin Phillips, has on her. Romance is the last thing on Tessa's mind. She longs for the adventure and fast-pace of New York City, not being tied to Mount Ridge and a man who insists she shouldn't be so impetuous. After all "independent spirit" is what Tessa does best!
Colin transferred from the police force in Atlanta in order to find closure after the brutal murder of his younger sister. He wants a nice, safe future, not one filled with caring and worrying about another impulsive woman. His sister was naïve and unpredictable, and while Colin is drawn to Tessa's spunk and vitality, her willingness to rush into danger scares him. No way could he cope with another devastating loss. His heart must remain closed where Tessa is concerned.
But God has His own plans...and His own way of changing hearts and cultivating love.

This was more about faith as a man learns to trust in God again after losing his sister. Tessa wonders if home really is where the heart is. I think this was my favorite of the series.
I have to say that I love the White Rose Publishing books as they all in their own way are amazing reads. This is the second book I have read in the Sweet Treats Series , reading and reviewing Grace's Gold. The Sweet Treats series follows the story of four sisters , their trials and triumphs, the obstacles that they have to overcome in order to settle down and find happiness. Tessa's Teacakes follows Tessa, the baby of the four sisters. The novel starts with Tessa working at their family bakery "Sweet Treats" when she hears sirens heading towards the Crisis Center in which her brother-in-law Brent - Grace's Husband ( from Grace's Gold) is caught in a hostage situation with an angry husband whose wife had been recieving counselling from the Crisis Center. Tessa , not one to stay in the crowd - rushes into help finding herself in the arms of Colin Phillips - the new police officer . Is it love at first sight ? Over the next few days, we read as Tessa and Colin start to have dinner together and become closer but Tessa is harbouring a secret - she is planning very shortly to move and escape to New York. Can Colin persuade her to stay and be with him or will she miss her chance at love in pursuit of her dreams ? Find out in this Sweet Treats of a novel by Mary Manners and to make it extra special, whilst reading it go and make yourself a cup of tea and a teacake to go side by side with the story.
This has been such a awesome, sweet series! It has been so good to see how each sister ends up in life after the loss of their parents. Tessa is the youngest of them. So she was being raised by the other 3 sisters. She has had enough of what everyone else wants for her. She got a job offer she is ready to leave now to go and leave in the big city in New York. Can she follow through with her plans? Will something else come in to her plans or a person? Great novella.
The story is a good read, but I found the flow of the story to jumpy. I liked the characters a lot and plot was engaging, but it tried to get to another part of the story to quickly, which made it awkward for me.
Tessa's Teacakes is the third short romance in the Sweet Treats Bakery series written by author Mary Manners. Four sisters own a bakery after their parents die.
So far this has been my favorite in this series. A perfectly lovely novella that entertains as much as it reminds us that maybe where we started is exactly where we need to be.
