Clown Through Mask: The Pioneering Work of Richard Pochinko as Practiced by Sue Morrison (Hardback) - Common

Rate this book
Richard Pochinko (1946–89) played a pioneering role in North American clown theater through the creation of an original pedagogy synthesizing modern European and indigenous Native American techniques. In Clown Through Mask, Veronica Coburn and onetime Pochinko apprentice Sue Morrison lay out the methodology of the Pochinko style of clowning and offer a bold philosophical framework for its interpretation. Morrison is today a leading teacher of Pochinko’s Clown through Mask technique and this book extends significantly the literature on this underdocumented form of theater.

It's an interesting look at a different way to clown, though through theatre. I guess I expected more and apparently you have to take a class in it to really appreciate it, I have it on kindle because I did not feel the need to pay too much for something I might not actually enjoy.

If you are interested in clowning though I would seriously consider reading it as some information and a different perspective is nice to have. I also very much enjoyed the chapters dealing with first nation clowning, first nation healing and the ceremony.
