2.5 ale niech będzie, ale to naprawdę naciągana opinia.
Generalnie chyba jednak sobie daruję ten reread, bo to co w mojej głowie jest dużo lepsze niż to co na papierze, bo jest jeszcze przykryte kocykiem nostalgii.
Anachronizmy są naprawdę nieznośne, szczególnie w budowie bohaterów, Sol jest trochę mniej złożona niż zapamiętałam, chociaż i tak jest to naprawdę niezła postać (absolutnie uwielbiam scenę z widłami) i cała książka jest zaskakująco nieromansowa.
NATOMIAST Margit Sandemo naprawdę nie lubi grubych ludzi (a kobiet to już w ogóle) i wszystko co najgorsze robią nalane, obrośnięte tłuszczem, leniwe, spasione baby -_- Dochodzimy do momentu, kiedy Sol wróciwszy z Danii oznajmia Silje, że powinna przestać jest ciastka na miodzie, BO SIĘ ROBI GRUBA, a ona się wystarczająco napatrzyła na grube kobiety w Kopenhadze. WHAT IS MORE xD to że Sol w ogóle musi uciekać i się ukrywać, że w ogóle zaczyna być ścigana jako czarownica dzieje się dlatego, że wściekła rzuciła jakiejś kobiecie, żeby spadły z niej ubrania i "pokazały wszystkim ludziom ten cały tłuszcz i to jaka jest gruba", no borze szumiący, jest to żenujące xD

First Book: 4.5 stars
Buddy read with the MacHalo group! (Kind of, seeing as only Shelly read it and I didn't even read it at the same time) A for effort?
Set in Norway, Sweden, and Copenhagen (so far), this series follows the family descended from The Ice People- a people cursed by their ancestor who made a deal with the devil. Those born with powers feel inclined towards evil, though some have resisted. This installment follows Sol, a twenty-year old witch who certainly has no interest in doing good, and is actively seeking Satan.
I really liked this one, surprisingly. 3.5! I adored the first book in the series, despite the writing/translation being a little bit staccato. I really disliked the second book and began to think the first was a fluke, but this one was enjoyable in the same way, if a little less interesting. A bit smuttier though ;) I can still see why these have been the bestselling Nordic books since the 80's.
Book 3/47. I'll read the next one to get a better idea of whether or not I actually like this series, but I don't see myself reading all 47 books. That said, it has inspired me to look into reading more Nordic authors.

I cried an entire night because of the goddamn ending. Warning - strong attachment to the wonderful characters and a slightly sadist streak in the writer. I wouldn't recommend a heartbreaking book like this one to anyone. It was great.

Trzeci tom Sagi o Ludziach Lodu przechodzi na następne pokolenie. Tym razem zostawiamy w spokoju Tengela i Slije, żeby dożyli swoich ostatnich dni, a fabuła skupia się na Sol oraz Liv. Mamy 1599 rok, Sol ma 20 lat, Liv 16. Pierwsza decyduje się na podróż do Danii, by odwiedzić swojego przyrodniego brata Daga oraz chce powrócić do swoich magicznych zdolności, wynikających z dziedzictwa i je rozwijać. Natomiast druga zostaje wydana za mąż i zagłębiamy się w jej pożycie małżeńskie.
Polubiłam ten tom, bo opisane wydarzenia były bardzo dynamiczne, narracja przechodziła z jednej kobiety na drugą i autorka nie dawała mi szansy na to, żebym zaczęła się nudzić. Niestety dosyć mocno denerwowała mnie postawa Liv, która była bardzo bierna oraz dała sobie wejść na głowę teściowej, a jeszcze bardziej mężowi. Sol jest bardzo specyficzną osobą i trzeba to po prostu zaakceptować, bo inaczej można ten tom spisać na straty. Jeśli chodzi o zakończenie to było ono poniekąd do przewidzenia, ale i tak trochę szkoda, że to się wydarzyło.
Pozostaje mi iść do kolejnej części.

…unfortunately, I decided to put this series down for a while, ehem, after all it is over forty books in this series. I mostly skimmed read this book and it was an okay read. I did like reading more about Sol and that ending had me sad af. Maybe finish reading this series in the future? Maybe. We will see. I have a lot of books to read at the moment, so yeah.

Jestem pod ogromnym wrażeniem, jak ogromne dziury czasowe są pomiędzy każdym tomem i jak bardzo ma to sens. Czasami aż się wzdrygam, niektóre sceny są tak bardzo na nie, ale całość strasznie wciąga.

Na tyle lekkie, że można czytać jednym okiem, więc w sam raz na pandemię. Bardzo obiecujący początek z morderczą, samolubną Sol skłonną do czarnej magii i niezobowiązujących kontaktów towarzyskich. Niestety, autorka wszystkie co mroczniejsze rzeczy ostatecznie poszarza, a antybohaterkę spotyka coś w rodzaju kary. Szkoda, bo mogło być bardziej dziwnie i oryginalnie.
Najlepsze momenty: mężczyźni mówiący Sol, że jest taka delikatna i wewnętrzny monolog Sol w klimacie "wow, czego się o sobie samej nie dowiaduję".

This series changed my life back in the 90's. I was almost a teenager, and this series, this book in particular, changed my view on life. Sol was my first favourite heroine, I still love her. This series was written in the 1980's, so urban fantasy was not a thing then, but this series might have been one of the first uf series in history. Maybe it can be labeled as PNR. Not very graphic sex scenes and characters are sometimes annoyingly innocent. Sometimes some ofthe characters are bit Mary Sueish (Sol definitely is not) and very very Christian, but this series is not a praise to the Christian god, it just is set in 16th century (and religion was a big thing back then) and continues all the way to 1960's (47 books!)
I have read this series in finnish like million times and now it is available as audio book(s) at my audiobook stream service, in English! And the narrator is great! I was so happy to find out this.

Pierwsze dwie książki z tej sagi przeczytałam jeszcze w podstawowce/gimnazjum i patrząc na niektóre sceny nie powinnam tego wtedy czytać xd. Nie jest to wybitna książka, ale bawiłam się świetnie, więc spełnia swoją rolę, moim celem książkowym na życie jest skończenie całej serii. O tej sadze przypomniala mi starsza pani z wakacji, ktora kazdego dnia popijala drineczki nad basenem i czytala kolejną Ludzi lodu. Bardzo chcialabym nią być.

Plejedatteren ('The Foster Daughter') starts of about 5 years after the events of Heksejagten and it is Sol Angelika's story. I've always loved her, for all her flaws and deepseated problems, she's very difficult not to love. Maybe because she loves so much herself, especially her family. But the curse of the Ice People hangs over her head and no matter how she tries, she can't find peace or calm in the normal world. She's driven by her own instinct to use magic, for better or worse - often the latter. But she's still a good person, the story very clearly illustrates how she loves her adopted family, her brothers and sister, and strangers like the helpless little Swedish girl Meta, whom she saves from an awful fate.
Sol Angelika is probably my favourite heroine ever, when I think about it. Which is why this is one of my favourite books of the series. In reality, I ought to give all the other 5-starred books 4 stars, so this could get 5, but that's a detail.
Like the first two books, the narrative's strength is the setting. Like me, Sol seems to have an affinity for forests and trees and as such, she spends an awful large part of the book in a forest in Sweden. And Sandemo's descriptions are so beautiful in their sort of creepy serenity. Which is very telling for this book, it's a little less of a lovestory and more of an adventure, or a desperate, restless search for adventure. The fantasic elements are brought more into it, quite naturally given Sol's abilities and inability to not use her gifts. But it is also more of a family's story, or saga, now that we've moved on to the next generation. The pace is high, but the events are enthralling and there's quite a few turns and surprises.
The family has yet to decide to actively try to end the curse, right now they're still trying to live with it, without getting hunted down and accused of witchcraft. While this book mainly follows Sol's adventures now that she's grown up, it also follows her little sister, Liv, as her life changes from a happy childhood at Lindealléen to that of a married woman. The two stories of course intertwine.
This book always leaves me breathless, because of the ending. I will give no spoilers, but I'll admit that it is a bit of a cliffhanger - one that always makes me want to open up book 4, Arvingen ('The Heir') right away to get the answer to the last question.

"Otchłań" znacząco odbiega od fabuły dwóch poprzednich części. Zamienia się z tajemniczo - romantycznej w ociekającą seksem opowieść o młodej czarownicy szukającej uniesień i wrażeń.
Do tego dochodzi kolejna wyrwa czasowa między "#2 Polowanie na czarownice" a "#3 Otchłań".
Cała książka jest jednak spójna i dość przyjemnie się ją czyta, oprócz końcówki, która zdecydowanie mnie zirytowała.
W mojej osobistej ocenie 5/10.

It feels like she found her footing now. The author is clear and precise, inviting me to a fantastic journey across Scandinavia a long time ago. How horrible life must have been for women then. How horrible it still is. I feel so much sympathy for the main character as she struggles. She remains a strong-willed, freedom-loving spirit throughout the story, and it's wonderfully told in all its horror.
