Ladykiller

Rate this book
This crime-thriller-horror takes you on a graphically violent journey through the eyes of a sexually depraved and mentally unsound individual. He's a serial predator but throughout the story of his exploits you'll either grow to sympathize with "Brian," or despise him for succumbing to his twisted urges. From the beginning, the dark and sinister side of sexuality is made an apparent influence with "Brian" having some mommy-issues that verge on the perverse and criminal -- how far does his perversion take him when the murders begin? How long does he stay "mommy's boy," before things take a turn for the most macabre? The narrator opens your eyes to the innermost thoughts and emotions that drive what society labels a "sociopath" or "cold-blooded-killer." He walks you through the motions of thought as he commits the most devious and violent of crimes against the women unfortunate enough to strike his fancy.Ladykiller is not for the weak -- not for the sheepish -- not for the faint-of-heart.**cover photo Pink Sherbet Photography ( from kilderkin on Nov. 30, 2011 : ***** Intense page turner. Let me get the gripes out of the way first. This isn't a very violent or graphic novel at all. I have read books that were so violent blood and guts should have been spewing from the pages. At the most Ladykiller is a bit creepy an given its subject matter it should be a little creepy.

The formatting on the Kindle edition was just a bit off and would randomly start a new paragraph whenever it felt like it and that threw off the flow of the story a little. My last gripe is that it was a bit too short. I wish it had been longer.

That being said Ladykiller puts you inside the head of a serial killer. Brian has some serious issues and they all stem from his mother. The story is quite easy to follow and provides a nice little twist at the end.

Chelsea Hoffman has written the kind of book I enjoy. It's all about pacing and atmosphere. Brian is a character we despise but we can see why he's turned out the way he has. I was hoping for more violence but the violence we do have just shows us how far gone Brian really is. Ladykiller is a short read but one I highly recommend.

Awful, the only way anyone gave this book 5 stars is if it was the author herself or her friends. I recommend avoiding.
