I was visiting the outer banks and went for a day trip to Ocracoke island and must have picked up a free publication (newspaper) while there because I read it and there was an article inside about Patricia Huston-Holm and her being a journalist snd something about her meeting someone on the ferry to or from Ocracoke snd I guess she’s going to be writing some kind of story which I’d be interested to read but since that paper got thrown out I can’t remember what she was going to be writing about.
However. In this article, it mentioned that she wrote “Shattered - True Story of an American Teenager”, and it interested me so I ordered it on the spot.
I’m enjoying it. The shattered person is Holly. She was 17 in 1997 when she was thrown from a car one night in March. Quadriplegic as a result. Terrible accident!
I’m only on page 72.
Sometimes when people write about what happened to somebody, I wonder how or why they include little things like what the person was thinking about while they were driving or in a tanning bed,
When she interviewed Holly, did she ask Holly what she might have been thinking about or did Patricia just make it up because it makes the story more personal?
Other than me wondering these things, I like the story.
and I wonder what’s going to happen. Will Holly walk again?
What’s her life like now?
I recommend this book for anyone interested in such subject matter.
Thank you
