About the author

Yana Toboso (枢 やな Toboso Yana) is a female Japanese manga artist born in Warabi, Saitama Prefecture, Japan and currently resides in Yokohama. She is best known for Black Butler (黒執事 Kuroshitsuji), a popular shonen manga series.

She has also written yaoi under the pen name Yanao Rock (簗緒ろく).

Appearance
Yana Toboso draws herself as a devil with a black body and horns, a white head, and a pointed tail. She has never uploaded a picture of herself, so her actual appearance is unknown.

What the fuck was this volume? I'm pissed off. So pissed off at this volume. Why? Because of Elizabeth. She's the most fucking irritating character ever. First she intentionally follows Ciel into a dangerous situation, then refuses to go to safety because in doing so she won't look CUTE anymore and lastly she almost DIED because SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DEFEND HERSELF because she wanted to look cute and innocent to Ciel.

Why the fuck would you want to die looking cute instead of choosing to live? Are you kidding me? The situation was that Lizzy had to crawl through a air duct to escape from FLESH EATING ZOMBIES but when Ciel tells Lizzy she has to take off her skirts to fit inside what does she say? "NO. I DON'T WANT TO. I WANT TO LOOK CUTE FOR CIEL UNTIL THE END."

At this point I was so annoyed at her actions. I never liked Lizzy, she was annoying and is such a brat. I don't even know why Ciel or her parents don't discipline her =="

I just can't. The stupidity is too high. She's too dependant on Ciel for happiness. Like she needs his approval or acceptance. She treats him badly and disregards HIS feelings. Like what, he won't wear clothes she picked out so she gets all upset and cries and destroy the things that she didn't buy.

Goddddjjdjdjs I can't take her bratty behavior anymore, if she doesn't move away or die in this manga I'm going to lose my mind.

Oh. My. God. What a ride! I don't think I can explain with words how much I absolutely LOVED this volume. This arc is just amazing! And I love how the characters are growing. I mean, look at Snake. Look at ELIZABETH.

Plus, I was so surprised by all the gore and horrible stuff happening in here. I mean, Black Butler has never been shy of blood and murder, but this volume was pure gore. And I loved it!

You know what? Zombies on the totally-not-Titanic isn't the stupidest Titanic-themed book I've ever read.

I do wonder why all of the male zombies are fully clothed in evening wear and the female zombies are in Victorian undies, though...

همین چند ساعت پیش این جلد رو تموم کردم و باید بگم تا به الآن بهترین بود! خیلی اتفاقای خنده دار اتفاق افتاد و خیلی هیجان و خشانت (به قول دوستان) و اتفاقای غیر منتظره داشت! تو دو فصل آخر جلد قبلی این صحنه ی زیبا رو داشتیم که سیل (Ciel) خیلی شیک مجبور میشه این حرکت رو بزنه! =))

و حتی فکرشم نمیکرد که دوباره مجبور بشه این حرکت رو تکرار کنه. و اینجا بود که تو این جلد مردم از خنده!!!

و خب برای مدتی برگردیم به اتفاقای اصلی که افتاد... خب این سری داستان از این قراره که توی یک کشتی خیلی خفن و اینا هستن و یه یارویی که ادعا داره میتونه مرده رو زنده کنه! و سیل و سباستین مخفیانه با همون حرکت قشنگ وارد جلسه میشن. و اینجا چی داریم؟ هیولای فرانکنشتاین! خب البته نه هیولایی که توی کتاب اصلی فرانکنشتاین بود... در واقع زامبی! یه مرده ی متحرک که هیچ عقل سلیمی نداره و خب می دونید که زامبیا دیگه چطورن؟ :| خلاصه... نیگذره تا اینکه به طور خیلی اتفاقی کشتی پر از گله (؟؟) های زامبی میشه و مردم بدبختن که برای نجات جونشون این ور اون ور میرن و دم به دقه یکی یکی میمیرن! :دی و این وسط دو تا شینیگامی داریم که خیلی شیک دارن کارشون رو انجام میدن :| :

=))))))))))) اصلا من عاشق گرل (Grell) هستم! یعنی کل اتفاقای کتاب یه طرف، این هم یه طرف. خیلی خوب بود/هست خدایی! :))

و خب در این اثناء که این کشتی داره با گله های زامبی ها دست و پنجه نرم میکنه، مانگاکا با خودش فکر کرده که چه بهتر میشه یه فاجعه ی دیگه اضافه کنه! و کار باسی جون (همون سباستین منظورمه) و بقیه رو سخت تر کنه! بــــــــــــــــــــــــــــوم!!! کشتی با یک کوه یخ برخورد میکنه، و صرف نظر از اون عکس بالا فیلم تایتانیک داریم! :)) شاید فکر کنین چه چیز مسخره ایه که ماجرای فرانکنشتاین رو با تایتانیک قاطی کرده، ولی خب این چیزیه که باعث شد من بیش از پیش از این داستان (Arc یا هرچی که میگن) خوشم بیاد! :دی واقعا دم مانگاکا گرم! *-*

و در پایان... یک اتفاق غیر منتظره داریم. البته برای من با تشکر از جست و جو های پیشینم اسپویل شده بود ولی خب نمیدونستم اینطوری اتفاق میفته! در نتیجه برام غیر قابل باور و تعجب آور و خفن‌انگیزناک (!!) بود! عکساشو با یه توضیح کوتاه میذارم. قبل از اون...

خب همونطور که اول گفتم خیلی از این جلد راضی بودم. نقاشی زد و خورد ها و اینا همه چــــــــــــی عالی بود! کاملا میشد هیجان رو حس کرد! کلا هرچی بگم کم گفتم. مخصوصا در مورد اتفاق آخر. که باعث شد بیش از پیش از الیزابت خوشم بیاد!

گاهی اوقات آدما اون چیزی که نشون میدن نیستن...

و به خاطر حمایت از جون کسی که دوستش دارن، خودشون رو پنهان میکنن، مگر اینکه مجبور بشن و خود واقعی شون رو نشون بدن! :)

Black Butler, Vol. 12 is creeptastic! This action-packed volume is what would happen if the The Walking Dead invaded the Titanic. The story picks up immediately where the last volume left off and we discover the abomination lurking below deck.

Flesh-eating corpses!!


Thankfully, Yana Toboso, is brilliant at balancing the grotesque with the hilarious with just the perfect amount of eye candy thrown in to keep a girl happy. Sebastian is all kinds of awesome as he takes down the hordes of flesh-eaters. Not only do we have the pleasure of seeing Sebastian demolishing corpses, but we also get the added bonus of not one, but two, shinigami entering the fray.

To keep things from getting too macabre - silly Phoenix salutations.


Eye candy. Dripping wet Sebastian. Mmm....


Well, I'll be damned. The ending totally threw me for a loop. So unexpected. I have to say, even though I've never been a fan of Elizabeth, I felt pleasantly surprised and couldn't help cheering her on.

Go on with yo badass self, Lizzie!




As always, the art is exceptional. Leave it to Yana Toboso to draw beautifully gothic zombies. I think it's a feat only she could accomplish.

I love when this series takes a darker turn, especially because Sebastian usually needs to unleash his ninja skills on the baddies. The surprising ending has me really curious to find out what happens next. Can't wait for the next volume!

Punaise mais c'est ça que nous voulons! Une Elizabeth reine du maniement de l'épée!

Je suis contente de ce tome. Il est vraiment excellent. Je l'ai dévoré en un rien de temps.
Il est génial parce qu'il remet sur le devant de la scène des personnages comme Grell et Snake tout en s'appropriant une histoire connue de tous.

Un remix du Titanic avec des zombies? Je signe pour!

#12 Black Butler series - Manga

First Read: 1/21/15

Aboard the maiden voyage of the luxury passenger liner, Sebastian and Ciel infiltrate the meeting of the secret society responsible for raising the dead. To their horror, the cargo hold is filled with a huge horde of the undead, which become free to roam and attack the passengers.

Two Grim Reapers appear, one with the regular model Deathscythe, the second Reaper with a turbo-charged version. ;-) One Reaper, Mister Sutcliff, has an ongoing major crush on Sebastian and flirts shamelessly with the chagrined butler, as they fight for their lives against the zombies.

Amid the gruesome zombie attacks, Lizzie's family fights fiercely. The giddy ♥✿❀♥♥!! Elizabeth♥✿❀♥♥!! drops her silly, girly persona, and reveals herself to be fearsome and deadly with a sword to save Ciel.

Yana Toboso raises the stakes, as the Titanic-inspired plot includes a collision with an iceberg and a sinking ship, amid the desperate battle against the hordes of zombies.

A fabulously fun read!

Book of Atlantic is now picking up speed in the way of lore for some characters. I really loved how everything is drawn in this manga volume and you can see the improvement! I think Book of Atlantic is gonna be my second favorite arc.

Possibly one of the best volumes in the series. This one had everything! Action, horror, nail biting suspense, emotional impact, humour, and last but not least, a huge unexpected twist that even I didn't see coming. My heart leapt with joy in the exact same moment my jaw dropped.
Nice to see the reapers back in action, always a good time when one of them (or two!) show up. It's impossible not to enjoy their blasé attitude surrounding death. Ronald Knox's carefree tone to the book adds something interesting to the mix as well. Would love to see more of him in the future. I also really enjoy the little bits with Snake, who I feel is a lovely little addition to Ciel's odd (and oddly charming) cast of servants. I think there is a fair amount of potential for his character to develop.
The take on the 'Titanic' is rather amusing, and was one I expected to see. I love how the series picks up bits and pieces of history and incorporates their 'truths' into the fictional world of Black Butler.
The art work, as usual, is gorgeous as always, albeit a bit more macabre than previous volumes considering this one has a lot of the 'living' dead roaming around and eating people.
All in all, this volume has set the pace and the bar for future volumes in the series. I look forward to the next addition!

ادامه ی داستان زامبی ها. خیلی جالبه دیدن سباستین وقتی داره از تمام توانش استفاده می کنه و انگار هر لحظه ممکنه کم بیاره :D شیل دوباره وارد عمل شد! می دونم نمی شه از شیل توقع داشت به کسی جز ملکه اهمیت بده ولی بازم وقتی دیدم همه آدمای در خطر رو ول کرد و فقط از اطرافیان خودش محافظت کرد ازش نا امید شدم :|

+ و الیزابت!! عالی بود O.o
+ اون حرکت ققنوس که شیل و سباستین مجبور شدن انجام بدن... O.o عالی بود!! خیلی خندیدم سرش :))

از اون صحنه ی "ققنوس" بگذریم، این صحنه محشر بود :))

Another awesome read! Really can see the eliments of the story being transferred to the movie from the manga. The creators stuck pretty close to the storyline, with the only differences being perhaps character design and dialogue. But, other than that, the movie and the manga are very similar.

I love how the author bought eliments of the titanic into this lol. And Grell, where would the storyline be without him haha. It's awesome that Lizzy got a better feature, and this storyline allowed her to show her true colours.

This book features only part of the movies plot from the time the zombies came to life in the secret Phoenix meeting to the time that Lizzy showcased her true colours. So the movie is centred around several volumes overall.

Looking forward to reading the next instalment.

The voyage across the Atlantic continues as the wonderful Black Butler and his charge, the Earl of Phantomhive try to infiltrate the inner working of the mysterious group, The Phoenix, who have recently created a rather - uh - unfortunate situation on board a luxury cruise line ship.

But who doesn't love a story that features zombies!!!!!!!!

Bring 'em on! Along with complications from the arrival of grim reapers who are intent of taking advantage of the situation, our Black Butler is having a hard time keeping his charge safe. Good thing he has back up ..... in the form of ..............the Earl's betrothed?

Oooooooo! This is a good issue!

Ce tome est pour moi le meilleur de la série et de loin. On retrouve enfin les shinigamis absent depuis l'arc du cirque. Le duo de Grell et Ronaldest juste à mourir de rire, ça fait vraiment du bien d'avoir un tome aussi drôle depuis longtemps. Les femmes sont vraiment badass, Elisabeth est la plus grande découverte et je ne suis pas deçu de découvrir qu'elle a énormément de courage, je l'apprécie encore plus.
C'est toujours un plaisir de lire les passages avec Snake qui est l'un de mes personnages préféré.

Ahh the continuation of the Book of Atlantic arc! Things are getting weird in this Titanic x Zombie arc, but in a fun way. I remember when I read Elizabeth's big "reveal" at the end of the volume I was shocked just as all of you were. I was stunned she could actually fight given how I was often annoyed by her. Still am annoyed with her sometimes, but it is nice to know she could hold her own in an actual fight. Very interesting volume!
